...to feel slightly nauseous at all these cutsey mothers' day offerings?

So, my DSs have never been the most artistically minded of kids. although I appreciated their cards this morning, I know they were created under threat of losing screens for a week and involved, Oh at least 30 seconds effort. AIBU to wish these enforced acts of cloying devotion could be done away with?

My most precious artistic offering remains a rare picture I was presented with one day after school when my DS2 was in Year 1. mummy! He exclaimed joyously. I've drawn you the Grim Reaper!

AIBU to wish there would never ever be another Mother's Day thread again?

MrsFionaCharming · 15/03/2015 22:06

AIBU to think that if you can't say something nice, you should just leave the thread rather than policing what other people want to post about?

tootired love the Grim Reaper!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 15/03/2015 22:11

There should be a nice hideable Mother's Day topic. There should also be a Mother's Day button on facebook that hides/deletes any post containing any reference to the day.

On the plus side, that is the very best Mother's Day grim reaper I have ever seen.

thelittlebooktroll · 15/03/2015 22:12

Best Mother's Day drawing I have ever seen. Love it!!

LineRunner · 15/03/2015 22:13

Is that the Christmas shepherd looking for mother's day?

tootiredtothinkofafunnyname · 15/03/2015 22:14

PelvicFCR - great idea, and to go off topic within seconds, what else would it be great to be able to filter out from view? My vote would go do any mention of Christmas outside December.

Yabu. I did not have to enforce anything. My kids made me a card on moonpig and youngest made one at school. I did not get a present and I didn't expect one but friends of mine have and I'm pleased for them.

If you have to force your children to make you a card then don't bother. But don't start getting negative about the whole thing because other people's kids could be bothered.

The best thing about today has been no cooking.

Charlotte3333 · 15/03/2015 22:16

Haha best Mothers Day thread so far!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/03/2015 22:21

Brilliant picture, tootired's son! I have spent a lot of the last few days looking at pictures that Terry Pratchett fans have drawn of Death, and I reckon your son's picture is up there with the best of them!

tootiredtothinkofafunnyname · 15/03/2015 22:27

Butterfly you know I am secretly very jealous [ envy ] ... It must be wonderful if your kids are naturally creative and embrace such opportunities, but for those that are not it all becomes a bit stressful.

Yanbu. I love the grim reaper. I got star wars stick characters one mothers day.

To be fair mine wanted to take me for a carvery today..(preens)
Mums ate free, kids were a pound each. Ds's are 11,9&6. Classy my lot are. Dh went deaf. I cooked.

AwfulBeryl · 15/03/2015 22:28

Grin brilliant picture.

ghostyslovesheep · 15/03/2015 22:29

My middle child likes to make me alternative cards - the school are not so keen but she's managed twice - this year was supposed to be a cute hand span thing - she adapted it well

the other is from 2013 - last year her teacher told her off and made her do flowers Hmm

Great drawing tootired My son sent me a text, daughter a humorous (in joke type thing) e card & text. Both at uni, so this is just fine. My B day only two weeks ago, so I'm not bothered with MD
I spent the day filling out Form E (divorce-related financial form for them that don't know) Smile

tootiredtothinkofafunnyname · 15/03/2015 22:29

SDTGis as a Prachett fan it was an especially welcome offering. Out of shot sadly, but he also managed to draw in all the metatarsals.

Ghostly - genius cards! This post was actually inspired by a card that popped into my Facebook newstream when my friend's DS had drawn her a bottle of booze, with the inscription 'happy whatever day mum - love J -ps I did this for lego. top marks for honesty.

She's given me permission to share her card - she's feeling too technologically challenged to do it herself.

Ds made the card at school. He has recently learned the phrase 'bend over backward' and so he filled in the blank after 'Thank you, Mummy, for ' with 'bend over backward'. Dh finds it hilarious.

While dh was out getting me a coffee, ds loaned me his favorite stuffed animal. Then disappeared for a while to write me a note: 'hapee mufvers da i hop yu njoed hollin pUP'

I was actually offered my first ever breakfast in bed (dh brought a bacon roll with the coffee) but i figured i would be the one to have to get the crumbs out, or worse, so I ate in the kitchen.

ghostyslovesheep · 15/03/2015 22:40

I love that boys honesty!!! Grin

tootiredtothinkofafunnyname · 15/03/2015 22:47

Momagain1 breakfast in bed is a terrible tradition - with you 100% on the crumbs issue.

I love that! I knew it was the Grim Reaper (or D'eath) before I read the post!

We didn't all get to spend any time together today (had a meal together yesterday).

I got cutesy (actually lovely) hand made card and gift from DC2 and bought-with-own-earnings card and gift from DC1...and not to be outdone, the cat watched and took all this in and fetched me in an almost deal mouse! HmmShockGrin

PeaceOfWildThings · 15/03/2015 22:49

^almost dead mouse.
