I'm re-reading the books for the millionth time. I'm on Anne's House of Dreams.

Need to order the DVDs.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 21:24

And I am watching Jane Eyre (2011 Michael Fassbender) version right now with a glass of red so mothers day is on!

I love Daddy Long Legs too. Jean Webster was an amazing woman. The other books aren't as good imo.
I like it when Daddy/Master Jervie/ Mr Smith says, 'my dear little Judy, didn't you realise?' My dds don't like it as much as I do. Or any American 1900s girls' literature. Such a great genre.

My so called life...... Loved it. Jared leto Wink

PrimalLass · 14/03/2015 21:45

PrimalLass · 14/03/2015 21:46

As in I agree, not 'I know, duh'

krustyem · 14/03/2015 21:50

I couldn't believe it when they axed it and left it on her starting to have feelings for Brian.... Bloody Brian over catalano??? I think not

LaurieMarlow · 14/03/2015 21:52

Sounds like bliss. The miniseries is fabulous and Megan Follows was born to play Anne.

I love the whole series. Rilla of Ingleside is properly devastating though. Broke my heart when I was a child.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 21:53

God yes that was an outrage ... Jared leto so pretty [sigh]

Doesn't he look at bit trampy these days though?

OP posts:
krustyem · 14/03/2015 21:55

I'd still take him looking trampy and even a bit smelly Hmm

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 22:11

You can get it on DVD? I MUST have it!!!!

bluelamp · 14/03/2015 22:28

I spent my birthday watching The Nutcracker with my daughters. We had a great time. Your plan is equally good. Never seen the show but loved the books.

JT05 · 15/03/2015 00:32

For those who want another weepy to watch - the Elizabeth Taylor version of Little Women.

DontForgetTheLightAlesLawrence · 15/03/2015 00:38

You are not being unreasonable at all.

What a fabulous way to spend MD.

You've got me all nostalgic now.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 15/03/2015 00:45

YANBU. I have the DVDs - cannot wait until DD is old enough to watch and appreciate it.

Gilbert Blythe is the man of my dreams. Jonathon Crombie was perfectly cast, as was Megan Follows.

roomforimprovement · 15/03/2015 01:02

Hmm. My only reservation would be that I would prefer them to read the books before watching the tv series. DD1 has read them all, but my younger DCs haven't and I somehow feel I'd prefer them to enjoy the books first. Is that odd?!

IrmaGuard · 15/03/2015 01:05

Oh God, when Matthew died... I don't think I've ever cried so much over a tv show. And when Matthew (with help) bought the dress with the puffy sleeves... I'm welling up now.

molyholy · 15/03/2015 01:12

Wow op. You just took me back! I watched it religiously. Fond memories xx x

AnneEyhtMeyer · 15/03/2015 01:28

I have just received a load of travel brochures from PEI tourist office. I just have to persuade DH now, who just doesn't understand.

Kampeki · 15/03/2015 01:32

Yanbu, I love Anne of Green Gables. We're working our way through Little House on the Prairie at the moment. :)
