The 1985 mini series of course.

Is that the one with Jonathan Crombie (I think that's his name) as Gilbert Blythe? If so, then YANBU and would not be so to want to watch it every day for the rest of your life.

AndiRee · 14/03/2015 20:52

What a fantastic idea. I wonder if my girls would be up for that.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 20:52

Of course Grin and yes I was a bit in love with him to but forgot until now.

But if they hate it Sad and they may just be too young... But I just sat through a monster high film with them...

Is it on the telly or do you have a DVD? I remember reading the books as a child and would love a reminder.

Isyourclockorange · 14/03/2015 20:58

He's 48 now! I did not just Google him

shouldbeasize10 · 14/03/2015 20:59

That's my dream mother's day!!!!

How old are they?

Mine's only 5. Give it 3 years and we'll be doing the same. Brilliant idea OP!

krustyem · 14/03/2015 21:01

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 21:01

I loved the books I still remember when my younger sister read the first book and came downstairs sobbing because Matthew had died (as a horrible 16 yo I may have taken the piss at the time Blush).

wondeful idea, I loved that mini series too, as well as Anastia...

makeminea6x · 14/03/2015 21:07

Apparently this is a thing - I'm taking my mum to see the play of it tomorrow! We both love it. My DD is too little yet but one day...

wearymum200 · 14/03/2015 21:08

Sounds like my perfect Mother's Day too. Think Dd still a bit young (6), tho' she did ask to watch Sound of Music with me today Grin

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 21:09

Oh I didn't know there was a play. Have fun.

'Raggletaggle gypsies' - possibly the best bit of the sequel.

basgetti · 14/03/2015 21:12

I spent last saturday afternoon in bed watching this with baby asleep on me. Gilbert Blythe is still the most gorgeous man I've ever seen.

AvaCrowder · 14/03/2015 21:13

I love all the Anne books. I read them now probably about every two years, right up to Rilla of Ingleside. My dh always asks me why I'm crying and I try to explain, soppy old sod I must be.

sconeswithcream · 14/03/2015 21:13

yanbu. amazing series. I walked down the aisle to the theme tune!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 21:15

I should read them again and my secret shame book daddy long legs (very dodgy sugar daddy tale but as an adolescent I loved it)

HermioneWeasley · 14/03/2015 21:16

Absolutely not U. Insist on it. And if they won't watch it with you, demand they being you chocolate digestives and keep the noise down so you can enjoy it.

The Megan Follows TV series, yes?

FunkyPeacock · 14/03/2015 21:17

Sounds perfect

I love the books and the TV version

Isyourclockorange · 14/03/2015 21:19

Ah, Scones, that's lovely.

UnidentifiedSighingObject · 14/03/2015 21:20

This is a fantastic plan. DD is too young by miles, but I have the DVD box set and the video version so that's tomorrow evening sorted the second DD's head hits the pillow!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/03/2015 21:21

Megan fellows yes ... I am glad ianbu Grin
