Some one stole my boots!

Went to the gym this morning.

My boots wouldn't fit in a normal locker, and I didn't want to use a disabled persons locker.

So put them under the bench, after seeing a few other ladies do the same with theirs.

Came back. GONE.

Someone stole my brand new 48hour old boots.

I'm gutted.

I know I shouldn't take stuff thats valuable.

But AIBU to think it's not okay to just take someone elses stuff?

Any luck with speaking to the manager OP?

BeeRayKay · 13/03/2015 16:38

Well, spoke to the manager on duty last night who asked me to call back today. There response was "it's implied in the use of the locker room that all articles are left at the owners risk."

I feel stupid bothering the police with this....it's a pair of boots. But on the other hand, thats why scum get away with it, because of lack of reporting.

Definitely report to the police. If there was no space what should you have done, gone to reception?

Report it.
Don't let scum get away with it and don't let the manager fob you
Off!
I'm very sorry for your loss, some people are despicable x

I'd say a good solicitor would write a letter stating that there is a world of difference between actual notification and implied notification in relation to the use of lockers.
I hope you do report it.
The fact that you said there are no notices on the walls stating that belongings are left at the owners risk and that they recommend the use of lockers for storage while using the gym then I think you might have a good case to get replacements.

Why don't you do up a notice and post it in the changing room with a picture of the boots saying that these were stolen in the past fortnight and that you're making people aware of belongings being taken. Also if anyone has any information in relation to the boots, they can leave it at reception (or return the boots there).
