To feel sorry for Catherine DoC or anyone, pregnant or not having 220 stalkers and think she chose her position and still has the choice to withdraw from being HRH?

She has hardly done many engagements since becoming Her Royal Highness. It's one excuse after another. I would just live a quiet life with her DH and DC if I were her. Give the job to someone who wants it.

I really don't get your title...

BarbarianMum · 05/03/2015 14:40

I think what she's been doing with her time is called "ensuring the royal succession", which definately counts as a royal duty (if you believe in all that guff).

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 05/03/2015 14:43
Hmm

She's producing an heir and a spare right now

squoosh · 05/03/2015 14:43

Your thread title is confusing. She has 220 stalkers?

TheIronGnome · 05/03/2015 14:47

What are you on?!

JoanHicksonMIfive · 05/03/2015 14:48

Yes according to an article I read earlier.

What are you on?

Poor cow's only just stopped throwing up, hasn't she...?

AgathaF · 05/03/2015 14:49

She chose the life she lives. She was with William for years before they married, so she knew what she was getting into.

EponasWildDaughter · 05/03/2015 14:51

I wonder what would happen if she just decided not to do the royal engagement thing any more, and just lived like a SAHM?

Would her popularity fall?

How many people feel that her going out, snipping ribbons on opening days and meeting and greeting the great-unwashed makes her, or any royal, 'worth' having?

Why shouldn't she just swan about in the royal residences looking after her DCs? Popping up for a photo once in a blue moon?

Genuine Qs. I'm on the fence.

Totality22 · 05/03/2015 14:52

I'm not a mind reader OP. So linking the article you read would be useful.

Grumpyoldblonde · 05/03/2015 14:52

I've not heard her complain about her position, not sure what the thread is about?

EveBoswell · 05/03/2015 14:54

Just because what the Duchess of Cambridge does is not in the newspapers or on television doesn't mean that she does nothing.

squoosh · 05/03/2015 14:55

I think it would be very hard for her if she had a change of heart and wanted to retreat from public life. I think there is now an expectation that she is a public figure with a duty to shake the hands of foreign dignitaries, accept bouquets from children and cut ribbons etc. Isn't this why they had a long relationship before getting engaged, so she'd be fully aware of what her life as a royal would entail?

I think the public would have little tolerance for a royal who was seen to not be making an effort to earn their crust.

Chillyegg · 05/03/2015 14:56

I don't understand your title...

I feel sorry for the lass I'm around the same due date as good old Kate and I can't be bothered brushing my hair most days... She has to shower and EVERYTHING and be in the public eye. She can't get preggo rage. If she gets the farts she can't just let one out.
She can't just walk to the shop and buy 2 packs of mini eggs a sandwich some quavers and a bottle of vimto in her joggers like I just did

Yeah she knew what she was getting into

livingzuid · 05/03/2015 14:59

Are you for real? She is pregnant ff s. And she had HG. Her first priority is the health and safety of her baby. Once she was over her birth with George she was out and about same as always. YABVVVVU.

squoosh · 05/03/2015 15:03

Don't the newspapers publish the number of appointments each royal manages in a year? Even the royals I don't know from Adam are expected to get out there and clock up the appearances at village fetes and so on.

specialsubject · 05/03/2015 15:05

I imagine this is why she and William split up for some time. Very difficult choice to marry into this.

jealousy is a playground emotion and achieves nothing.

ajandjjmum · 05/03/2015 15:14

I think she seems to do a great job. And I suspect William is a much happier man that he would have been had he been married off to an aristocrat, and their offspring been brought up by nannies.

sonjadog · 05/03/2015 15:21

Arvet heir children not being brought up by nannies? I find it unlikely they don't have a nanny.

SwirlyThingAlert · 05/03/2015 15:23

Thank Gawd it's not just me. I was reading the title thinking "what the hell are you on about?!" Grin

She has 220 stalkers? Nooo idea what else you're on about

HatieKokpins · 05/03/2015 15:30

I'll have a pint of whatever the OP is on, please. It looks like it was the gooooooood stuff.

HerRoyalNotness · 05/03/2015 15:31

So you re saying that by virtue of her choice of DH, it's ok that she has stalkers and that she should withdraw from public life if she doesn't like it?

Mmmmmm, okay Hmm

Or the staplers could fuck the fuck off and leave her be preferably at HMs pleasure

HerRoyalNotness · 05/03/2015 15:32

Yes those staplers, pointless bastard things just waiting to stab you

stalkers autocorrect thank you

BarbarianMum · 05/03/2015 15:33

Whatchildren sonjadog ? She has one child. And yes I'm sure she has a nanny because, when not laid out flat with HG, she's a working mother.

I'm pretty anti-monarchy and even I can't understand why this poor woman is being attacked for not doing enough.

ajandjjmum · 05/03/2015 15:35

Bit of a difference in having a nanny to help a working mum, as opposed to a team of four to look after the little ones, except for the half hour pre supper that they spend with their parents!
