To ask what was that worst wedding gift you received? (lighthearted)

Yes, yes, yes, we must be grateful for all gifts, etc., BUT - what was the worst gift?

I don't know why I suddenly thought of this because I got married ten years ago! But the worst gift we received on the day was a box of chocolates. That were an old brand, five years out of date and hadn't even been manufactured for three years.

(The gift-giver was not old, ill, infirm, poor or mentally unwell. They were well known for being mean - in fact in our family they were known as Meano Mary. And she certainly lived up to her name that day.)

mil best friend made us a cross stitch tapastry with the dates of our wedding and our names

It is in the attic until I am able to appreciate the hard work that went into it

We got a tenner in a card from a couple who I'd met once very briefly before - friends of my PIL. Dh was pissed off as he thought they were so cheap - I thought it was funny and a random figure - these folk are very well off (obv. as they never spend any money!)

Also got a cheque from DH's friend and his wife made out to Mr & Mrs Steve Ember which of course was an account that didn't exist.

Not me, but my brother and his wife received a beautiful portrait from her dad... Of her dad... In royal ceremonial clothing. They opened it with us there and we weren't sure wether it was a Polish tradition or a joke.
Turned out It was a joke. It was bloody funny and strange!

My sister gave us a spliff - not joking.

Still annoys me now Grin

The gift of nothing from DH aunt who had only been invited to the evening do but turned up to the reception and asked me in the receiving line had I ordered her a gluten free meal?!!! Hmm

ExH's best man (who always came across as lovely) gave us an ELC "Doctors & Nurses" toy case with contents. We worked for the NHS and he thought we'd want to spend our evenings as we spent our working hour's! !

A pink knitted Barbie-type doll loo roll cover, complete with loo roll from Dh's aunt who adored his ex-gf.
