To ask, Do you eat in bed?

... and if so, what do you eat?

For the past several months, I've noticed that as soon as my head hits the pillow I'm suddenly starving. Even if I've eaten a proper dinner, I sometimes wake up ravenous in the night. Then if I don't get up and seek out food, I'll just lie awake for ages. What is up with this?

I've mentioned it to colleagues and a couple have confessed to keeping chocolate bars or crisps by the bed for midnight munchies or coming downstairs for cereal in the wee hours of the morning. Is this something that happens to lots of people?

Bearcatt · 25/02/2015 21:49

No. Never.
Don't ever want a cup of tea or coffee in bed in the morning.

PurpleSwift · 25/02/2015 21:49

Yes, I always take my porridge back to bed with a big mug of coffee.

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2015 21:50

I never eat in bed.

I used to get ravenously hungry in the night when I was breastfeeding & I'd go to the kitchen for a big bowl of weetabix, but I've not been hungry in the night since.

Maybe try a snack before bed?

Koalafications · 25/02/2015 21:50

Oh no. Absolutely not. Think of the crumbs!

HappyHippyChick · 25/02/2015 21:51

No, I never eat in bed either. It wouldn't occur to me to!

MelanieCheeks · 25/02/2015 21:51

No, but dh does and I get really annoyed by it-the noise of chewing while I'm trying to sleep, the crumbs, the effect on teeth....

Topseyt · 25/02/2015 21:51

Not here. The occasional cup of tea in bed on a Saturday or Sunday morning, but not food.

wartsnall · 25/02/2015 21:52

No but I've found hidden biscuit wrappers under my husband's side of the bed after he's consumed beers!

MumSnotBU · 25/02/2015 21:52

I also have hot milk in bed before I nod off.

CalicoBlue · 25/02/2015 21:53

I never eat in bed.

I do have a friend whose Friday night treat is a curry and film in bed. She will also bring a kebab home after a night out and eat it in bed. The thought of the smell of curry or kebab in the bedroom makes me feel sick.

FunkyPeacock · 25/02/2015 21:53

No

StarCrash · 25/02/2015 21:53

I've been known to eat a kabab in bed after a night out, back in my student days but I've never eaten anything between the hours of going to sleep and the morning, even when pregnant.
I'd happily eat breakfast in bed if someone made it for me but I'm not one to leave my bed. Easter eggs in bed are standard.

usualsuspect333 · 25/02/2015 21:53

I sometimes take to my bed with my kindle a cup of tea and some snacks.

PtolemysNeedle · 25/02/2015 21:53

I don't think it's normal to wake up so hungry you have to eat in the middle of the night.

It is definitely not right to eat in bed.

Yellowbird54321 · 25/02/2015 21:54

Don't have a stash of munchies by the bed or anything, but the odd early night with coffee and toast is an occasional (and pleasurable) occurrence Wink

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 25/02/2015 21:54

No, I never eat in bed at night and wouldn't dream of getting up to eat after going to bed.

DH brings me toast and coffee at the weekend whilst I stay in be , is that okay?
