to laugh at this second-hand wedding drama?

It's second hand because it's actually happening to someone I know vaguely on FB who is in America.

She is getting married! And man, does everybody need to know about it! So far she's had:

An engagement shower (which seemed to be a party just for her thrown by her mother)

An engagement party (for the couple and potential invites to the wedding)

A wedding shower (same again?)

A bachelorette party (hen do)

Sent out save the dates (which I'd never heard of before her fb post about "looking out for them"), invitations, RSVP cards. And on and on.

Many many public dramas on the way, including rants about the fact that some people RSVP'd "sorry I can't attend" AFTER getting their save the date cards - she sent the save the dates SEVENTEEN MONTHS before the wedding. I'm sure most people had lost them by the time the correct year rolled around!

Anyway the wedding is this weekend (yay! An end to it all!). This week's FB drama is that people are cancelling last minute. She posted a screen grab of a text convo today though that has had me scraping my chin all day (my jaw is on the floor). It said:

Friend: Wanted to warn you hun, I won't be able to make it on Saturday. I'm so sorry. I'll call you tonight.
Bride: You know what, DON'T call me. You're the second to do this. So sick of selfish people wrecking my special day.
Friend: Mum died this morning.

Bride is on FB asking her friend list AIBU to think that "if her mum died on Monday then she could totally attend a wedding on Saturday".

Amazing.

And before anyone says it, yes I know I should unfollow/unfriend but I am shamefully addicted to this stuff... Blush

Surprised nobody's posted this one yet

AlfAlf · 25/02/2015 22:14

Aw :( the other bridezilla thread's gone poof!

Catsize · 25/02/2015 22:23

She needs a COLD shower.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/02/2015 22:35

Is it just me or does that wedding seem to be like a funeral?

KKCupCake · 25/02/2015 22:39

Here for the ride, so entertaining!

nickelbarapasaurus · 25/02/2015 22:49

MNHQ have deleted the van accident bridezilla thread "it seemed too button pushy to be true" - i don't care if it were true or not! I liked it! Shock

Spadequeen · 25/02/2015 23:26

What was the gist of the deleted thread?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/02/2015 23:30

Spade, poster was having a shit year, got hit by van and needs physio and such, because of this she can no longer attend friends wedding because they can afford it, after that she got text from people being shit about it.

Cooki3Monst3r · 25/02/2015 23:33

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Shock

What are you doing?! You'll get this one deleted! Sad

kitchentableagain · 25/02/2015 23:39

I'm amazed they deleted that and not this. This doesn't seem even remotely likely to be true to me and it's on my FB feed!

Cooki3Monst3r · 25/02/2015 23:43

Maybe it's on the MNHQ FB feed too.

BigBeads · 25/02/2015 23:47

This is always how I imagined Regina George's wedding would go. We could all cobble a script together and flog it as Mean Girls 2. Stripper/guest role going to LiLo natch.

AnnieHoo · 25/02/2015 23:54

This is gold. OP can you see anyone else in the wedding party's fb pages?

Spadequeen · 25/02/2015 23:57

Thanks tali

SlightlyJaded · 26/02/2015 00:49

Where is OP though? We need to know if she has made contact with BZ. Time is short and our bride has wedding-puppies to book, ice sculptures that need carving and goodness knows what.

OP, if we're not too late, it might be worth adding that the best wedding-puppies are trained to walk in sync and in time to the music. She should check before she books that they are proper 'marching puppies' rather than the slightly cheaper generic wedding ones.

I will never ever understand Bridezillas, weddings are supposed to be one of those beautiful forever moments. People that make such a big deal about these things need their heads screwing on properly.

raspberrywhitechocolate · 26/02/2015 01:40

BigBeads there is already a Mean Girls 2! it's shit

Thumbwitch · 26/02/2015 01:44

4 Weddings was on in Australia too (Aussie version). My out and out favourite was the one where the best man dressed as Gollum. It's the looks on the other brides' faces that cracks me up the most!

ZingNinjaRoll · 26/02/2015 02:12

Am I to late to mark my place?
I think not.

musicalendorphins2 · 26/02/2015 03:51

OMFG! That Gollen at the wedding is the worst thing I have ever seen. Talk about making a mockery of a wedding and upstaging the bride! Did the bride know this was going to happen?

musicalendorphins2 · 26/02/2015 03:52

*Gollum.

GrinAndTonic · 26/02/2015 03:59

I had people not turn up to my wedding.
Person 1- went to a music festival instead and put it on Facebook.
Cousin 1- decided to stay home and shag her boyfriend.
Cousin 2 - refused to come as I did not allow children at the event. It was a creek side reception. The potential for chaos and drowning was high.
Cousin 3- refused to come as they don't allow their pfb yo have babysitters. Pfb was 5 at the time.
Person 2- her mum nearly died. I was amazed she even called to congratulate me and then apologised. I was not expecting that.
Person 3- was actively pushing a small person out her fanjo unexpectedly two weeks early. She was upset at missing the wedding as she had bought a fab maternity cocktail dress Grin

Thumbwitch · 26/02/2015 04:25

Do you know, musical, I can't remember! I think so, because they were both massive LOTR fans. She thought it was great anyway, it was just the other 3! Grin

G&T - your cousins! Shock Do you still bother with them? I wouldn't!

musicalendorphins2 · 26/02/2015 06:05

At least it wasn't the groom rocking up as Gollum... or the bride!
Think I need to re watch it. Grin

kitchentableagain · 26/02/2015 07:21

Gollum! That was awesome, especially that at least one of the guest brides obviously had zero clue what he was supposed to be/the reference. Massive LOL!

I don't get the whole "beautiful forever moments" thing. For me it's signing a legal contract. That's it.

grin&tonic when did you get married? I have never had a wedding but I've thrown lots of other events and I honestly can't recall who didn't turn up and why. Even for the fairly recent things!
