to laugh at this second-hand wedding drama?

It's second hand because it's actually happening to someone I know vaguely on FB who is in America.

She is getting married! And man, does everybody need to know about it! So far she's had:

An engagement shower (which seemed to be a party just for her thrown by her mother)

An engagement party (for the couple and potential invites to the wedding)

A wedding shower (same again?)

A bachelorette party (hen do)

Sent out save the dates (which I'd never heard of before her fb post about "looking out for them"), invitations, RSVP cards. And on and on.

Many many public dramas on the way, including rants about the fact that some people RSVP'd "sorry I can't attend" AFTER getting their save the date cards - she sent the save the dates SEVENTEEN MONTHS before the wedding. I'm sure most people had lost them by the time the correct year rolled around!

Anyway the wedding is this weekend (yay! An end to it all!). This week's FB drama is that people are cancelling last minute. She posted a screen grab of a text convo today though that has had me scraping my chin all day (my jaw is on the floor). It said:

Friend: Wanted to warn you hun, I won't be able to make it on Saturday. I'm so sorry. I'll call you tonight.
Bride: You know what, DON'T call me. You're the second to do this. So sick of selfish people wrecking my special day.
Friend: Mum died this morning.

Bride is on FB asking her friend list AIBU to think that "if her mum died on Monday then she could totally attend a wedding on Saturday".

Amazing.

And before anyone says it, yes I know I should unfollow/unfriend but I am shamefully addicted to this stuff... Blush

I think wedding alley cats would be better. Much more chaotic, snarly and unfriendly - much like the bride. Grin

SlightlyJaded · 25/02/2015 17:11

I think she meant breasts. Puppies is American slang for boobs.

But me? I definitely meant 16 Labrador puppies. Grin

Thumbwitch · 25/02/2015 17:26

Wedding puppies - and advance on bachelorette party puppies (that was in Bridesmaids, wasn't it? Some such film anyway)

The thread I linked to a long way upthread, about another Bridezilla, has just taken a turn for the more dramatic and I take back any conciliatory comments I made about the Bridezilla before - she is JUST as fucking batshit as this one!

SquareTheCircle · 25/02/2015 17:28

Bang on the money there, Jaded the labradors would be preferable, but couldn't pass up the opportunity for a cheap --cocktail–– shot

kitchentableagain · 25/02/2015 17:31

Didn't some sleb somewhere once give live kittens as favours? I'm sure I read that somewhere. I'm sure this BZ will have put the work in to create a useful momento of their shitfest special day. Engraved bullets?

Today has been relatively quiet, but apparently i missed some action because my RL friend (who had unfollowed BZ but after my questions went and checked her out) messaged me: "OMFG the stripper is apparently an invited guest did you see!?" I can't see anything about ot on the wall now though. Her most recent post is a picture of a --swollen looking- hand with sparkly engagement ring with the caption "aching to be together with my partner, only three days to go!". Dunno if she means the ring or her. If it's her then I suggest that she has gout.

This thread destroyed any hope I had of doing a full day's work. Is there any way of getting a message to the poor bereaved friend to tell her that there's 356 women (and counting) rooting for her? My mouth actually fell open when I read that text exchange.

Thumbwitch · 25/02/2015 17:49

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2317026-just-told-my-friend-to-f-off Linking again for any latecomers to the thread - it's outrageous!

Pokeymont · 25/02/2015 18:48

OP, I'm really curious which state this wedding is taking place in? It sounds so mid west to me Wink

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 25/02/2015 18:49

Good lord

Tunna · 25/02/2015 19:31

I know of one bridezilla who, along with her mother, had the most outrageous requests. It was many years ago but it caused my friends mum ( the future MIL) numerous ulcers from biting her tongue so much, including approval over what colour outfit she was going to wear (it had to complement and not clash with either her or her mothers dress).

On the morning of the wedding friends mum turned up only to be bawled out by the bride that the dress was not the dusky pink she was promised, but more rose which was too close her own mums lavender affair. She then proceeded to get the photographer to take a test picture of the mums and run down to the local photo shop to get it developed so she could be confident that they would be okay on the official wedding pictures.

Inertia · 25/02/2015 19:49

Oh god yes, she must have wedding puppies- that is GENIUS!

DontGotoRoehampton · 25/02/2015 19:50

I am hooked on a French reality TV show where there are four brides and they go to each others' wedding and give them mark out of 20, winner to receives a honeymoon. Uber-Bridezillas all, and bitchiness off the scale - fab to watch Grin

sunnydayinmay · 25/02/2015 20:04

Wonderful thread. Obviously marking place for more updates. Grin

Me too Grin

NorksAreMessy · 25/02/2015 21:58

jaded whatever your profession IRL, you need to immediately ensign and become an OTT wedding planner. You clearly have an aptitude for the absurd and dramatic.
More please....

NorksAreMessy · 25/02/2015 21:59

REsign, not Ensign (Wesley Crusher)

I was wondering the same thing, possibly Chicago area. But then again it sounds almost textbook Brooklyn/Bronx or Texas Bridezilla, too.
