E.g. :-
"I cook from scratch" - I hate "from scratch". We used to say "everything was homemade".

And those of you who state "homemade potato wedges" Hmm? ...yeah, I'm impressed. So that would be some potatoes shoved in the oven then?

Fucking stealthy driers. I shall hang my smalls on the radiators.

I remember a thread not do long ago which accused those of us who dried inside of causing lung disorders

TSSDNCOP · 22/02/2015 22:42

You are the reason they won't be able to light Vegas tonight Wind.

One of my friends was once telling another friend about my awesome new set of kitchen knives. Friend 2 said "that will help TSS pierce the film on the microwave meals better". Cheeky truthful mare.

I tumble dry almost everything. But I don't own a car and I've never flown, so I reckon that evens out my carbon footprint.

I'm not the world's best mum (except to my kids) and I've probably committed every sin mumsnet has decreed, but I've raised two kids to be great adults and hopefully the other two will follow suit. And that's all that matters really isn't it?

kickassangel · 22/02/2015 22:47

how much energy do irons consume? and the TV which has to be on?

i tumble dry everything in winter. it's been around -25C for most of the week. Can you imagine what would happen to my smalls if I tried hanging them out in those temperatures?

Passmethecrisps · 22/02/2015 22:48

She sounds a keeper tss

MetallicBeige · 22/02/2015 22:55

Hmm Polar bears are the least of your worries TSSDNCOP, I'm going to extrapolate wildly and suggest that you might have even bought him a 'Get Well' balloon, or even a birthday balloon at some point in his life? If you did that you are responsible for the helium shortage and my Nan couldn't have her knee MRI done because of people like you buying up all the balloons and using all of the helium. And as for an iPad?! Slavepad more like, do you know how they are made?

Of course my iPad is a special one made from foraged nuts n bolts it's 100% organic and fair trade.

TSSDNCOP · 22/02/2015 23:00

Ah you still had the prototype crafted by St Steve of Jobs Metallic

You're second post made me nose my grape juice. I am not sure whether I should even confess this, so fast will my soul teleport to Hell. But fuck it here goes.

I have bought the DC a giant orange balloon so the he can be James of the Giant Peach on World Book Day.

Stares into the abyss of the end of the world.

Whatever Mumcredits I accumulated by purée ing organic carrots has just been proper fucked Sad

WindMeUpAndLetMeGo · 22/02/2015 23:05

I tumble everything and iron nothing unless it's smart shirts!!! I have a car and use it everyday - bloody global warnings a load of balls anyway

MetallicBeige · 22/02/2015 23:05

Wink Knew it! My heart aches when I spot another helium abuser. I am sat here shaking and crying at your blatant disregard for the planet. Tut! some people.

WindMeUpAndLetMeGo · 22/02/2015 23:06

Global warning?!?! Good old auto correct!

TSSDNCOP · 22/02/2015 23:15

It's vaynights though surely if it's for World Book Day that we're supposed to be earnestly weaving a home made costume for.

Roobix04 · 22/02/2015 23:50

I'd tumble dry everything if I had one! My mum washed some of dd's stuff and it felt amazing. The next time I put her in some of my none tumble dried pleb shit it felt like I was rubbing sand paper on my baby girl!

kickassangel · 23/02/2015 00:01

I absolutely love when I have the washing machine and the tumble drier and the dishwasher going. All hat work being done while I sit here on the iPad. Result!

Topseyt · 23/02/2015 02:22

Some people seem to spend a huge amount of time and energy being devastated and upset about spurious trash - like a child playing quietly on an iPad or phone while their parents eat a meal in peace instead of interacting with them every available second.

KatieScarlettreregged · 23/02/2015 07:48

I love my tumble dryer. It stops when the clothes are dry enough to fold and put away, fluffs up my towels and sings me a tune when it's finished. If I miss the song of dryness, it gives my clothes another shoogle every few mins so they stay uncreased and hangable. Magic.
Then there's the dishwasher. Cleans everything silently, dries up and summons me with a gentle beep.
Sigh Smile

treaclesoda · 23/02/2015 07:50

Katie what sort of magical tumble dryer is that? I might be needing a new one soon and that one sounds like it's just the ticket. Will I have to sell a kidney to afford one like that?

KatieScarlettreregged · 23/02/2015 08:02

Nono no kidney selling required (though I would if I had to). It's an LG 7k sensor (condenser) dryer. Bought it yonks ago. Think you can get something similar nowadays for about £200. I bought that one by accident as it was silver and had a utility room theme going Hmm

WindMeUpAndLetMeGo · 23/02/2015 08:26

Treacle mine does sensor drying too and it's Hoover it think - no tunes though, think I've been robbed!!

treaclesoda · 23/02/2015 08:30

Mine lives in the garage so I suppose I wouldn't hear the tune of dryness anyway Grin But sensor dryer sounds like the way to go. My dryer is ancient, can't believe it's still going.

TheCuntOfMonteCristo · 23/02/2015 08:39

Our house feels weirdly too quiet if the tumble drying isn't quietly murmuring in the background. I find its noise very soothing.

And it makes our towels feel like miniature fluffy clouds and all our clothes feel very snuggly.

What's not to like Hmm

TheCuntOfMonteCristo · 23/02/2015 08:43

I recently washed DD's cuddly polar bear and then tumble dried it to make it all soft and fluffy again.

So QED tumble dryers are actually good for polar bears.

bigbluestars · 23/02/2015 08:44

I must be in the minority as I don't like tumble driers. I have had one, but got rid.
I think they damage clothes, leaves them smelling rubbery, and are costly to run.
I dry my clothes outside- all year long. I live in a place surrounded by ancient woodland, the air is clean and fresh, my clothes come in smelling of fresh air.
Tumble drying can't beat that.

TheCuntOfMonteCristo · 23/02/2015 08:47

They might smell like fresh air bigbluestar but I bet they feel like sand paper.

If ever I line dry the DC's clothes they toddle (stiffly) around afterwards looking like they're in little straight jackets.
