J'Accuse... I do not believe a sizeable minority on here when they say "I blah blah blah"

E.g. :-
"I cook from scratch" - I hate "from scratch". We used to say "everything was homemade".

And those of you who state "homemade potato wedges" Hmm? ...yeah, I'm impressed. So that would be some potatoes shoved in the oven then?

I find that I roll my eyes a lot at some of the posts I read. But to try not to be judgymum, and if I do respond to someone's question I try and do it with empathy and not making them feel a fucking twat of a parent like some nm's do!

mrsmugoo · 22/02/2015 10:53

One thing that really irritates me is when people add the word "fresh" in front of bloody everything

"For breakfast we had fresh coffee and fresh fruit"

"Freshly ground pepper"

What, as opposed to mouldy??

PacificDogwood · 22/02/2015 10:54

Well, with that kind of attitude you can just feck right off, Talc Grin

How is that for hating for ya, hm??

MargotLovedTom · 22/02/2015 10:54

Thank you KatieScarlett that's good to hear Wink.

WannabeLaraCroft · 22/02/2015 10:55

Margot - you get me. Wink

Salmotrutta · 22/02/2015 10:55

Aw Talc - you are so right.

I shall try to think of the haters.

I've just looked at the Baby Led weaning Fb group. Someone was asking for a recipe for a sugar free birthday cake for their little one! Shock Another person put a photo up of the purple sweet potato cake they made for their's!

Whats wrong with a piece of real cake on your birthday, ffs?

Casimir · 22/02/2015 10:58

So what is the barest minimum you can do to qualify for being 'pleased with self'? Boil water? make anything hot? plantseedgrowvegetablespeelsliceboileat.

Salmotrutta · 22/02/2015 10:59

Gawd yeah! That whole "fresh" thing.

"We had a "freshly prepared pizza with homemade wedges" for lunch"

Me, I went down the pub for lunch and ate their freshly prepared stuff.

OP posts:
Salmotrutta · 22/02/2015 11:01

Obviously I haven't been down the pub yet just in case anyone thinks otherwise!

And as for the rollies?
I admire DH for his parsimony as it means I have more money to spend on crap I like. Like Greggs sandwiches, takeaway and Starfucks.
Oh and before any judgy von holier-than-thou tightens their sphincter...

We are very educated and not at all poor.

Purple Sweet Potato cake #pushes slab of devils food chocolate cake away in honor of such a cake#

PacificDogwood · 22/02/2015 11:03

I am quite please with myself an I've done nothing but MN all morning. And washed a yogurt pot for DS4
He is going through an artistic phase which involved cardboard, Pritt stick, sellotape (that's my part - I am the sellotape ripper offer), string and various things then to be suspended from our light fittings.

Does that make me an Arts and Crafts mum?

TalcAndTurnips · 22/02/2015 11:04

Yes! Thank you Pacific - just a light slap there and I feel better already.

I've heard that there is a bit of a handbagging brewing over in Arts & Crafts, where posters cannot see eye-to-eye over iron-on hemming products. I'm off to observe and lob in the occasional hand grenade to keep things humming along.

PacificDogwood · 22/02/2015 11:05

Delighted to have been of service, Talc

KatieScarlettreregged · 22/02/2015 11:05

Fuck off pacific with your stealth boasty arty mum bollocks.

A real mum would have no idea of what their DC made until they came across the glue encrusted brush stuck to your pants under the brown leather sofa... Blush

Mrsfrumble · 22/02/2015 11:06

I was once on a "when to ditch the buggy thread" with a poster who claimed that her just-turned-2 year old walked 5 miles a day. Apparently letting them ride in a pushchair after 2 was just lazy, regardless of your circumstances.

I suspect it was bullshit.

PacificDogwood · 22/02/2015 11:06

"Iron-on hemming" Shock - the lazy slatterns!!

TalcAndTurnips · 22/02/2015 11:06

Amazing Arts & Crafts x-post. First ever Shock

PacificDogwood · 22/02/2015 11:07

Katie, I can not confirm nor deny that I have some familiarity with the scenario you describe… Shock

KatieScarlettreregged · 22/02/2015 11:09

Explaining that to the kids was such a special day...

Little fuckers still bring it up. Usually in public Blush

lucymam · 22/02/2015 11:10

My mother had to walk 4 miles overall to the shops and back with me and my sister when we were 3/4 years old. She says it was hell.

passthewineplz · 22/02/2015 11:13

Baby wearing might have been an idea for your mum Lucy - she could have wobbled like a wheebl to the shops Wink

lucymam · 22/02/2015 11:15

Or even better, a car.

passthewineplz · 22/02/2015 11:16

Haha! I tried walking to the shops once, never again....
