To feel giddily excited about giving my daughter this gift

My DD has always had whatever I could provide....sometimes more than her friends sometimes less.

But she's never had a decent phone not the be all and end all i know, but phones are pretty important to teenagers aren't they?

By the way this isn't a stealth boast or anything like that.

She's always had hand me downs or second hand ones.On the only occasion she had a new one from a shop it wasnt a very good one.The one she has at the moment is one off ebay she bought with her money.

So last weekend a relative said she could have her old iPhone which was very kind of her and she dropped it off on Saturday but its scratched badly and the screen is smashed right across.

I think the relative was thinking she could get a new case and repair the screen but to be honest I was gutted when I saw the state of it....she accepted it and was grateful and Is talking about doing extra hours at work to pay for it to be repaired. But was so excited she rushed home to get the phone and her face when she saw it broke my heart.Shes not deprived or anything she has a kindle fire and a lovely bedroom but a nice phone just hasn't been on my list of priorities.

So I've bit the bullet and bought her anew iPhone 6. A gold one its bloody lovely! I'm going to give it her tomorrow and make out its a little valentines gift!

She's 17 by the way. She'll never in a million years expect one.

Come back tomorrow and tell us how loudly she squealed!

HexBramble · 13/02/2015 17:05

AAAHHH so sweet that you're this excited.

Let us know her reaction.

Wenglish · 13/02/2015 17:11

What a lovely mum you are!

BrowersBlues · 13/02/2015 17:16

Aah that is so sweet! I am dying to hear about her reaction. Its not easy rearing teenagers and you have obviously stuck by her through thick and thin. Well done you!

AWhistlingWoman · 13/02/2015 17:17

I feel excited too! And I don't even know your DD!

I'm sure she'll be absolutely thrilled.

MrsTawdry · 13/02/2015 17:19

Hooray! So pleased for you and DD.

Get it insured.

Haggismcbaggis · 13/02/2015 17:20

That's so sweet! She will love it I am sure. I have a clear belkin film on the screen on mine and a clear plastic bumper case so you can still see the golden loveliness.

She's very lucky to have such a thoughtful Mum.

wheresthelight · 13/02/2015 17:20

Awww that's amazing!! your daughter is very lucky and has an amazing mum!!!

grocklebox · 13/02/2015 17:20

Hide it inside a chocolate box or something!

Fluffyears · 13/02/2015 17:25

Aw lol belt she sounds a fan girl when you said she was gracious about a wrecked phone and decided she'd work hard to pay for repairs. You have raised a good one there you should be so proud and she will be over the moon about the phone.

grumbleina · 13/02/2015 17:28

This is adorable. Second the vote to come back with a full description of the joy.

There's something extra wonderful about presents like this when it's not a birthday or christmas. One of those things you remember forever I think. And your excitement is lovely too - you both get to be happy!

Mrsjayy · 13/02/2015 17:30

Och thats lovely she will be chuffed to bits make sure you get it insured though

Nocturne123 · 13/02/2015 17:36

Smile Lovely . My mum did this to me with a pair of trainers once and I was over the moon

shoofly · 13/02/2015 17:41

Sniff... I appear to have something in my eye (& am clearly hormonal!) - that is just so lovely! She sounds like a great kid and you sound like a lovely mum

Everythingwillbeok · 13/02/2015 17:42

Thankyou so much for all your lovely responses.

I've not told anyone only you lot! DP would have talked me out of it I know he would....but it felt right and the right time too, she's old enough now to look after it as well.

To everyone who's mentioned insurance thankyou, I've insured it this morning.
