AIBU to have bought ferrero rochers for the builders?

My wife asked me to get a "treat" for the builders doing our extension as it's Friday. I bought ferrero rochers. Apparently that's not appropriate and i should have bought biscuits or a cake. WTF is she on about??

HAHAHA! I would've laughed my head off if DH bought Ferrero Rochers for the builders. He wouldn't see anything wrong with it either!

Perhaps not the most appropriate treat. I agree with your wife that a cake or biscuits may be more of standard fare.

Did they eat them?

Moonraker37 · 13/02/2015 12:25

I'm sure they will love a bit of choc... They are 'seen' as a somewhat romantic gift though, a naff one! Don't worry about it. Sure they won't give it a second thought.

youngestisapyscho · 13/02/2015 12:26

They are not naff... I love them!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/02/2015 12:26

YABVU

Ferrero Rocher are lady chocolates. You should have bought them some Yorkies, proper mans chocolate, or perhaps Snickers.

Grin Grin

I love this! Did you arrange them in a pyramid?

Sallycinnamum · 13/02/2015 12:27

Brilliant! Thanks for making me properly laugh on what has been a decidedly crap morning so far.

Sallycinnamum · 13/02/2015 12:28

Arf at the pyramid! I bet the builders thought they were doing work at the presidential palace.

SunnyBaudelaire · 13/02/2015 12:29

yes a pyramid on a plate, and take them out to the builders holding the plate with one hand from beneath, purring about the ambassadors party?

lucky builders, I am sure they loved them.

Sallycinnamum · 13/02/2015 12:30

They will be expecting their tea in bone china cups now OP.

TheMaddHugger · 13/02/2015 12:30

Love it. Hey, Chocolate is always good

And my Hubs stealthy stealing of my Roche chocs proves they are a hit

morethanpotatoprints · 13/02/2015 12:30

I usually make them bacon sarnies and a cuppa. Grin

Oh, very funny, that's made my day. ha ha ha ha.

GoooRooo · 13/02/2015 12:30

"Ah Mr McColonel, you are spoiling us"

JudgeRinderSays · 13/02/2015 12:31

Depends if you are an ambassador

ArcheryAnnie · 13/02/2015 12:31

That's fantastic, McColonel. With those chocolates you will really be spoiling them.

(Sorry, it had to be done.)

I think you did a nice thing, and the builders will be happy. (And I don't think they are seen as a romantic choc, just a mid-priced choc suitable for group consumption. My DS - who perhaps is as carefree about weird social norms as you - chose them as the treat he took in for his mates at school when it was his birthday. I was only surprised the school let them in, as nuts.)

That's so funny. Let us know what the builders thought of it.

When I asked my dh to do the same, he came back with a selection of mini Danish pastries. The builders loved them.

UptheChimney · 13/02/2015 12:40

I bought chocolate biscuits (their favourites were Penguins) all the time for my builders a few years ago. If I'd seen Ferrero Rochers on sale,. IO'd have bought those too!

I think I really wanted them to move in & just look after me & DS. THey were lovely people, my builders, and did a total renovation around us, at a fairly stressful time for my DS. I think he enjoyed trying to 'help' them as a break from studies (university resits) and they were very tolerant.

McColonel · 13/02/2015 13:25

Good idea abput the pyramid, but no, just left them by the kettle.

They haven't had any yet. I've had 3 of them. ..

ywbvvvu

building is hard work they need bacon sarnies tea on tap and entire packets of biscuits.

MrsCakesPrecognition · 13/02/2015 13:31

I think I'd have bought a bag of doughnuts. Or Celebrations. But not nut-encrusted gold balls. Too much.

stubbornstains · 13/02/2015 13:31

YABVU. Save the Ferrero Rocher for next time you have the ambassadors in Grin.

squoosh · 13/02/2015 13:33

You should probably tell them that the romantic chocs are for them, they are probably politely assuming that they're not theirs to scoff.

Legwarmersforboys · 13/02/2015 13:37

Makes me want to be a builder

londonrach · 13/02/2015 13:42

I love them!!!!!!! Can i be your builder...

chocolatereindeer · 13/02/2015 13:43

Oh please please arrange in a pyramid as others have suggested Grin
