Dh is complaining that I did miso soup for dinner. It contains a bunch of spring onions, garlic, ginger, two big sweet potatoes, chilli, 2 cups of peas, a bunch of coriander, seaweed, 100g of ground up seasme and a big spoon full of fresh live miso. That's a complete meal right?

Would do me just fine.

WhataMistakeaToMakea · 12/02/2015 20:59

Thanks stealth....sounds interesting

Itsallabitwoowoo · 12/02/2015 21:00

On a 2 day of 5/2 yes, any other day no.

magrate · 12/02/2015 21:01

Stealth why did my comment raise an eyebrow?

Would fill me up but my 6' 7"BF wouldn't be full at all so I'd add noodles - why is that weird?

puzzledemployer · 12/02/2015 21:23

Not much of a main meal then. to maintain same weight/health, on average a man needs 2500 calories a day, and a woman 2000. If dinner is the main meal of the day, this isn't enough. If eating this for dinner, a man would then need 1400 calories for each of breakfast and lunch.

puzzledemployer · 12/02/2015 21:25

sorry, got that wrong, would need 900 calories again for each of breakfast and lunch.

Stealthpolarbear · 12/02/2015 21:26

Queen you weren't talking about you and your dp. As other have said lots of women would need more.
Puzzled that doesn't add up!!

Stealthpolarbear · 12/02/2015 21:27

x post

QueenBean · 12/02/2015 21:32

Erm, thanks for x-raying my post but yes, I was talking about myself. That's why I said "I".

icelollycraving · 12/02/2015 21:35

What does miso soup actually taste of? I've wondered actually for sometime in a vague way.

Opopanax · 12/02/2015 21:37

The first time you eat it, it tastes of NOT FOOD.

After that, it's quite nice.

I think this meal sounds fine. Anyone who is hungry after can surely have some bread and butter or toast or fruit or something?

Stealthpolarbear · 12/02/2015 21:39

"a boy"
Not
"My partner"

Stealthpolarbear · 12/02/2015 21:41

I've had it once so it's worth trying agin?

QueenBean · 12/02/2015 21:43

I use "a boy" in place of "a boyfriend" / "a boy who's a friend"

Not sure why its matters but yes, if I was cooking for any man I'd add more food in to a meal

HollyBdenum · 12/02/2015 21:43

Elledouble's version with tofu would be a meal, but I'd add more green veg and some tofu/fish/chicken before I would consider the OP's version a proper meal.

ouryve · 12/02/2015 21:45

I'm struggling to count to 5, there.

I'd find it rather strange with the sweet potato in, to be honest, but I would find that filling and would happily have it for a light meal.

Stealthpolarbear · 12/02/2015 21:45

Ok anD It probably doesn't
But some women like food too. Some women are bigger than some men.

Aeroflotgirl · 12/02/2015 21:46

No not enough for dinner, would have to be with something else.

peacefuleasyfeeling · 12/02/2015 21:47

Sounds gorgeous. We often have a soup as a main course for dinner. Two big sweet potatoes, two cups of peas and mushrooms for chrissakes. Stuffed.

FitzgeraldProtagonist · 12/02/2015 21:47

Love miso soup (sweet potato?) but is a low
cal dish. DH would be hungry.
So would I but am on diet so would be happy with it

QueenBean · 12/02/2015 21:47

Yes SOME women do but I was talking about me only and I would be happy with that meal but would add more for a man

I wasn't talking about other women, they can and have commented for themselves

Really don't understand why you care about my dining habits so much

Stealthpolarbear · 12/02/2015 21:49

Just leave it I really don't

QueenBean · 12/02/2015 21:51

Ok. So weird.... Hmm

Erm, 1400 + 1400 + 700 = 3500.

3 meals of 700 calories plus a few extras eg milk in drinks, light snack if going a long time between meals etc would easily reach a man's calorie requirements.

Some of the meat and 2 veg type meals I serve DH are only about 500 calories. I must be a really bad wife.
