to not want to be on reality tv?

My work are being filmed for a behind the scenes documentary about the staff. I'm amazed that nearly everyone has agreed to take part, and I'm being treated as unreasonable for dodging the cameras. (If you watch a show soon, and see a montage of a heavily pregnant woman stropping away out of shot, that's me Blush)

Series two filming is starting soon... Am I really BU not to take part? Would you all want to be on the show?

Can't imagine anything worse. I can't cope with FB even .
I'm with you.

TywysogesGymraeg · 10/02/2015 23:16

There's no way I'd consent to it either.

Loula117 · 10/02/2015 23:16

Not unreasonable at all! I would hate this. It's not what you signed up for when you took the job, no reason why you should have to take part as long as you're not stopping anyone else from getting their 5 minutes of fame!

GoingToBedfordshire · 10/02/2015 23:16

Of course YANBU! Sounds like my worst nightmare.

JollyFrog · 10/02/2015 23:16

One born every minute was filmed where I work. They had fixed and roaming cameras and were always in the bloody way but despite me always thinking I was bound to be caught on camera, I never was thank goodness!

sarascompact · 10/02/2015 23:17

Ugh. YANBU and I can't imagine why anyone would think differently. I hope your employers are accepting of your feelings.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/02/2015 23:17

Yanbu! What show is it? Please tell us!

SetTheWorldOnFire · 10/02/2015 23:17

Most of these shows seem to be about making people look stupid or generally vile, I don't know why anyone does take part, although from the fact your work are on to series 2, perhaps this isn't the case... or perhaps your colleagues just don't care.

I would never agree to be on a show like this, well done for standing up for yourself and not doing it because everyone else is.

BehindEveryCloud · 10/02/2015 23:18

YANBU. Definitely wouldn't consent to this either - many reasons but mainly because I would like to work without a camera in my face waiting for me to slip up so they can broadcast on national tv.

CuddlesfromChickens · 10/02/2015 23:18

Not unreasonable at all. He'll would freeze over before I'd willing participate in reality TV.

HowCanIMissYouIfYouWontGoAway · 10/02/2015 23:19

God no, I would HATE this. I have no desire at all to be on tv. It's really very intrusive.

BehindEveryCloud · 10/02/2015 23:20

Oh, if it's a hospital documentary, be careful. I know people who didn't consent but still ended up in shots as cameras are everywhere...

Please tell us the programme! and kiss your anonymity goodbyeGrin

Moltenpink · 10/02/2015 23:21

Thanks! Without wanting to out myself, it's one of the hotel ones. I'm really worried they're going to stitch us up and make it look like fawlty towers Grin

I'm in a managerial position and have missed important meetings because of it, I don't want my fifteen minutes if fame just yet!

FightOrFlight · 10/02/2015 23:22

Is it the call centre one?

FightOrFlight · 10/02/2015 23:22

cross post Blush

WaroftheRoses · 10/02/2015 23:23

My DH business was approached to be filmed for a series, it may have given them great publicity and more business but they were all against it! YANBU!

giraffesNeedBigPoloNecks · 10/02/2015 23:24

No way - I would ened up crying at peoples bitchy comments on twitter

BehindEveryCloud · 10/02/2015 23:25

OP thanks for telling us, I'm so nosey that it would've really bugged me when I should be sleeping Flowers

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/02/2015 23:25

Just tell them to sod off! Think I know what hotel show you mean, will be looking out for the back of a pregnant lady next series Grin

CocktailQueen · 10/02/2015 23:25

Fuck, no! Why? Worst nightmare.

TiredButFine · 10/02/2015 23:29

This happened to em a few years back...I made it clear that I did not want to be filmed at all and would not sign a disclaimer. I still ended up in a "cut away" shot.
Fast forward to the tv show...a customer was complaining and I was shown backing away.
This was made up of a shot I caught of them filming me ("we were just setting up the camera and testing it out")where I'd stepped back to get out of the camera's way, in June, and a customer complaining in September. Of course no-one watching would know that there was 3 months between me stepping backwards and the angry customer, it looks like I'm backing away from the customer.
The show still gets re-run from time to time and people say they saw me on tv (people who know me well, I don't get stopped on the street!)
Stay well out of it is my advice

HicDraconis · 10/02/2015 23:32

YANBU - I'd hate it and I'd refuse too. Can't think of anything worse.

HicDraconis · 10/02/2015 23:33

Actually that's bollocks, I can think of many many worse things. However I'd still hate it, I'd still refuse to be a part of it and you are still NBU :)

BlessedAndGr8fulNoInLaws4Xmas · 10/02/2015 23:34

YANBU ... I wouldn't do it.

ouryve · 10/02/2015 23:34

They should blur your face out if you don't consent.
