Genuine question - who reported the parents house money thread, and why?

Hullygully · 06/02/2015 13:26

Genuinely baffled. People who reported it, why did you?

It wasn't rude to anyone, it didn't get nasty, and it was quite a thought-provoking scenario.

It was I - I'm sparticus!

Heels99 · 06/02/2015 13:28

Troll

IceBeing · 06/02/2015 13:30

who you calling a troll?

Hullygully · 06/02/2015 13:30

Spartacus, dear Ice.

So is that a thing now?

I keep seeing threads being deleted. Is it a thing that people think troll! Bingo! and try and get stuff deleted?

OP posts:
sebsmummy1 · 06/02/2015 13:30

You did! You forgot due to your age Blush

sebsmummy1 · 06/02/2015 13:31

I bet it was Perez and his bloody rule book.

Hullygully · 06/02/2015 13:31

haha only too plausible...

However, is it a thing? Has it become embedded in the culture?

OP posts:
Hullygully · 06/02/2015 13:32

It hardly seems worth going on any thread. They all get zapped, even the most innocuous.

OP posts:
Behooven · 06/02/2015 13:33

Perhaps it was the 'grandads medal' troll again?

windchime · 06/02/2015 13:33

Did any part of the thread mention the McCanns? MNHQ always delete those threads in fear of being sued

scousadelic · 06/02/2015 13:36

I find this all a bit confusing.
If there is an interesting discussion going on, people are learning from each other and there is no nastiness (or not much anyway), does the OP really matter?

Trolls are only an issue to me when they are vindictive and unpleasant. That OP seemed a bit entitled and goady but it was an interesting thread so I don't care if it was posted from under a bridge somewhere and do wonder why anyone would bother reporting it

Rule book syndrome imo

BOFster · 06/02/2015 13:37

Do you mean this one? Confused

MorrisZapp · 06/02/2015 13:37

If you read a thread that makes you think 'omg that's OUTRAGEOUS!!' Then I'd tread with extreme caution.

Lots of people know exactly what pisses MNers off, and write carefully constructed 'hot button' threads to get loads of reaction.

I find them quite obvious but my little note of caution gets lost in the horrified responses.

whattodoowiththeleftoverturkey · 06/02/2015 13:40

its still there Confused

Hullygully · 06/02/2015 13:40

Yes boffy

and what scousadelic said.

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 06/02/2015 13:49

The nature and style of the OP's replies made it pretty clear they were just out for a wind up, I thought. Sad bastards about atm, that's for sure.

mrsmootoo · 06/02/2015 13:52

What was parents house money thread about?

MagpieCursedTea · 06/02/2015 14:03

That link says it's been deleted. What was it about?

IceBeing · 06/02/2015 15:07

hully eye fort thay didnt ave spelyng bak in them dais?

Also I didn't really report the thread...I thought it was quite interesting in fact.

firesidechat · 06/02/2015 16:09

Do MN delete a thread just because someone reported it? I have reported a couple of threads in the past that stayed around, so I suspect MN knew what they were doing.

Hullygully · 06/02/2015 16:11

I will never understand this mania for reporting...

No Ice, I know you didn't.

OP posts:
partypigeon · 06/02/2015 16:15

Was that the poster who was going to ask her parents to "unlock the value" of their house? I thought that was a lovely euphemism, I'm going to see if mine fancy unlocking the value of their car so we can get a new one

Hullygully · 06/02/2015 16:15

that made me larf party

OP posts:
YouTheCat · 06/02/2015 16:35

It's been like Troll Central round here this week.

Maybe the powers that be are getting trigger happy?

ImperialBlether · 06/02/2015 17:01

I used to unlock the value of my children's piggybanks. Should I be reported?
