Just because you are used to the smell, doesn't mean it doesn't smell. Even if you spray everything in fabreeze it just smells like fabreeze with a hint of dog.

Oh well, my house (and DH and I) stink of smoke and dog......all the more reason not to throw dinner parties

OP YABU. Pets do not necessarily make a home smell. People who don't clean up after them allow it to smell.

Smokers on the other hand. Stink. MIL always stinks of fags. Even though i have never seen her smoke. Her clothes and car too. Even her poor dog.

Not all pet homes smell, especially cat ones if the litter tray is in the garage or outside. Dog ones tend to more because dogs don't clean themselves as cats do but still not all do. Smokers houses will always smell while they smoke inside, that clings.

My friend suffers the same delusion on her house, however hers smells strongly of feet.

I smoke and don't smell of it. No idea why. My hairdresser didn't know I smoked, neither did my personal trainer and I sit about a foot away from a colleague who hates the smell of smoke who says I don't smell of it

I still don't see the point of this thread. I used to smoke outside and I wasn't 'delusional' - I was well aware that I smelt of smoke when I came back inside. However, the house never smelt of smoke and people couldn't believe it when I said I had the occasional cigarette.
Op, smokers and pet owners aren't delusional. Handing you a great big grip and hoping that you find yourself something useful to focus on.

I think it sometimes depends on the brand of cigarettes.

I have two colleagues who smoke - one you can smell as soon as she comes in but the other I can't detect it on her at all. Both have had a cigarette just before coming into the office.

I have a cat and my house absolutely does not smell like cat whatsoever.

I think house only smells if cat not neutered and you don't clean & air house regularly.

Who fucking cares, if it's not your house why would you give one?
