It's not just creme eggs, they've changed the chocolate for caramel eggs as well. Is nothing sacred?!

I work for Mondelez International.

Kraft Foods is a seperate entity and trades on the US Stock Exchange as such.

It's just a bit annoying to see people say they're going to complain to Kraft. It would be much better if people really feel strongly that they could complain to the correct people.

wowfudge · 29/01/2015 17:38

Can you explain then - I've googled this and the likes of Bloomberg, etc all state that Mondelez is the new name for Kraft Foods, Inc. Btw I work in the secretariat of a UK plc so I thought I had a handle on it having looked into it. Now I am just confused Confused.

wowfudge · 29/01/2015 17:43

Ah hang on - Mondelez is the new name for Kraft's snack business. It's US grocery business is still called Kraft. I should have read more closely!

So Cadbury lovers, write to Mondelez!

wowfudge · 29/01/2015 17:44

Sorry - the U.S. grocery business was spun off so is not now part of the same company, but has kept the Kraft name.

SwedishEdith · 29/01/2015 17:50

Oh, Mondelez is no good! I was just about to say how much I liked the name WitchKraft Angry Sad

Anyway, I've not bought any Cadbury's since, ooo, the first thread about boycotting them.

And they're not allowed to ship it to the US any more. I say the Americans should be very happy about that now.

Marmite27 · 29/01/2015 18:01

I put half a bag of mini eggs in the bin yesterday - they were disgusting.

I will not be buying anymore of their substandard palm oil crap!

BerniceBroadside · 29/01/2015 18:02

I have complained (via the cadburys website) and am STILL WAITING for a response several weeks later.

I also note that they continue to ignore the multiple comments on their official Facebook pages regarding their piss poor products.

AWholeLottaNosy · 29/01/2015 18:10

So what about this MN chocolate factory then?? I actually have a friend that makes chocolate. Don't think they would be cheap tho...

Another question, if Cadbury's ( or whatever name they are now), are using cheaper ingredients because the price of cocoa has gone up, who would be prepared to pay more for decent chocolate ( or, the Cadbury's chocolate we used to know and love?)

AimlesslyPurposeful · 29/01/2015 18:20

I would rather pay a little more for something I really really enjoy than pay less for something I don't. It's a bit of a false economy otherwise.

I think of chocolate as a treat and not something to have every day (I do have chocolate every day Blush ) and a treat should be thoroughly enjoyable not "Ok but not as nice as it used to be".

AimlesslyPurposeful · 29/01/2015 18:34

Thinking of pricing...

Take Cadbury's mini eggs as an example. How much is a small packet? 70p? If the price suddenly went up to 95p I'd probably pay it but I'd be aware that there had been a steep price increase and curb how often I bought them.

MooMaid · 29/01/2015 18:41

What chocolate do people recommend from Aldi then? I shop there but haven't tried the chocolate so suggestions would be great!

AWholeLottaNosy · 29/01/2015 18:42

Personally I'd rather pay more... If the products were good quality and the same size. I tend to go for Hotel Chocolat now as the chocs are delicious and I only eat it as an occasional treat. I love the fact that because they use real ingredients that they have lots of sales because the sell by date is a few months rather than a few years! However
many people have said that their quality is going down too, so maybe it will suffer the same fate as Cadbury. Sad

marshmallowpies · 29/01/2015 18:45

Smarties used to make mini eggs of a similar size to Cadbury ones which would be in the shops around Easter time - might be ok for Easter nest cakes if they are still around? Or milky bar eggs though that might be a bit sickly for all tastes. (I luuuuurve white chocolate personally).

Luckily for me I'm sorted for Easter: DH going to a conference in Belgium the week beforehand. Leonidas for me! Smile

HappyAgainOneDay · 29/01/2015 18:47

I buy Aldi's Choceur chocolate. It's far better and cheaper than 'Cadbury's'. It's no longer Cadbury's so let's start to call it Kraft - that's what it is.

AWholeLottaNosy · 29/01/2015 18:53

Sad Cadbury doesn't really exist anymore. Was a big part of my childhood. I remember having a bad feeling when Kraft bought Cadbury's and remember thinking, this won't be the same anymore. Apparently a lot of British food products are now owned by multinational corporations now.

Good motivation to buy local - if you can!

SquinkiesRule · 29/01/2015 18:55

I want in on the new factory I can smell it now. Grin
My Mum lived in Birmingham when she was a child she loved going to Bournville, not only did the place smell delicious she said she wanted to wear a Chocolate brown school blazer like the kids she saw there.

zukiecat · 29/01/2015 18:57

I think Creme Eggs taste the best they have ever done, I always liked them, but they seem more chocolately and sweeter now,

Only thing I don't like is that they now come in boxes of 5 rather than 6, what's that all about?

Agree with the rest of Cadbury's being rubbish though, luckily Galaxy has always been my favourite chocolate.

Moniker1 · 29/01/2015 18:58

To go against the grain here, I tried and enjoyed some ordinary Cadbury's milk chocolate, thought it was better then before, a bit softer and, maybe, meltier.

Not sure what it was, I'd only bought it to ice some cup cakes, but found the bar delicious and have bought more since, possibly it's less sweet. But it's difficult to be sure.

AimlesslyPurposeful · 29/01/2015 19:33

"Boxes of five [eggs]"

Five? The world has turned on its head!

bobbyjoe · 29/01/2015 20:40

Even if the odd thing hasn't been tampered with I'm so wary about Kraft has done with the recipe I'm questioning everything I eat that's Cadbury's and not really enjoying any of it with complete confidence. Kraft has ruined this company. I'm actually quite upset. It might seem strange but chocolate is one of life's little pleasures and I really liked Dairy Milk in the old days. A cheap treat, yet now I taste things and they're slimy or over sweet or something indefinable. Plus the texture has changed.

I know it's Nestlé's but I had a Toffee Crisp the other day. Pack of 3. Threw two away which is unheard of for me. The base part was just slime. Made of palm oil of course and since then and reading about some orang-utans in the newpaper I'm going to be more vigilant about products with palm oil in.

I hope Cadbury go broke. I wish we'd all boycott it and their profits sink and them maybe Kraft will realise what it's done. I hope it's then held up in talks in business in what not to do - i.e. don't listen to your customer.

GatoradeMeBitch · 29/01/2015 20:47

Moniker1 That is weird! I don't agree that it's meltier though. I used to do that thing of letting a bar of Dairy Milk melt between my thighs (a wrapped bar of course) while watching TV then eating it when it had melted. It doesn't really do that anymore. It goes soft but stays solid, it's odd.

Do you like soya? I wonder if people who prefer soya over dairy might like it, it has a similar aftertaste.

Or are you American? Apologies to Americans but Hersheys is horrible tasting, like 'new Cadbury's' so are all the other palm oil chocolate bars. But people raised on that shite think it's good... Kids who grow up on 'Crapbury's' will like it, because they don't really have anything better to compare to.

whatmess · 29/01/2015 20:48

So I didn't care when they changed the creme eggs, but I just bought some mini eggs and they are horrible. Soooo not okay!

Bakeoffcakes · 29/01/2015 21:18

Creme eggs used to be my favourite.

I bought one last week and it had the most disgusting after taste Angry

I'm sticking to Frys chocolate creme from now on.

lightbulbsarehot · 29/01/2015 21:19

Yuck

AimlesslyPurposeful · 29/01/2015 21:34

Re Nestlé - Do they make Yorkie Bars?

A few weeks ago I bought a biscuit and raisin Yorkie (Purple wrapper) and the first bite tasted, well, not nice. Had another bite and again it wasn't nice. I put the remainder of the bar in the bin outside the shop. The taste just wasn't worth the calories.

I used to love the purple Yorkie. I put my dislike down to tastes changing as we age but now wonder if Yorkie has been tampered with too? Are Nestlé doing a Cadbury?
