It's not just creme eggs, they've changed the chocolate for caramel eggs as well. Is nothing sacred?!

silveroldie2 · 29/01/2015 15:11

I haven't bought Cadbury's chocolate, which used to be my favourite, since Kraft took them over. If we all do the same they may sell Cadburys as they begin to make a loss.

SquinkiesRule · 29/01/2015 15:12

I just had a Galaxy egg Aldi is selling them it was lovely. I tried the cadbury ones last week and wasn't that impressed.
I'm getting Aldi chocs for Easter this year as it tastes good.

AWholeLottaNosy · 29/01/2015 15:17

Aimlessly - there are so many of us on MN, I'm sure we could actually buy and run a chocolate factory between us!

Now, what should it be called...? Smile

AWholeLottaNosy · 29/01/2015 15:20

When I was in India, even the spiritual gurus had their own brand of chocolate...!

Im in re the chocolate factory buying. Dh was in york when he saw the van taking terrys chocolate machines away. Come on people dont really eat hotel chocolate. Last year it was just ok, this year it tastes awful like cardboard with a bitter taste to it. Belgium choc the way to go. Agree re ldll choc.

londonrach · 29/01/2015 15:23

They are sweeter... Just tasted for mn.

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 29/01/2015 15:26

Don't worry after gaining five stone last year after being on steroids and consuming every chocolate under the sun, I have given up chocolate this week.

Kraft will be issuing profit warnings within days, I promise you Wink

DangerousBeanz · 29/01/2015 15:31

I loathe cadburys chocolate these days. Aldi is the way to go imho. Although U won't turn down lindt, suchard or Hotel Chocolat, or galaxy either. Cadburys has just gone shite.

Mousefinkle · 29/01/2015 15:48

I don't eat much chocolate anymore (used to eat at least two bars a day Blush) so when I do, I want it to be worth my while. It's either Lindt or hotel chocolat here all the way. Cadburys and Thorntons have both gone shit, nestle has always been shit.

I lurve mini eggs though so I'm gutted they've messed with them Sad... Still have to buy them for the rice crispie buns at Easter, there's no mini egg alternative is there?!

Sallyingforth · 29/01/2015 15:52

Yet another thread about the loss of Cadburys chocolate! We're getting one every week now...
Don't bother complaining, they don't listen.
Before going to the fancy premium brands, try the chocolates from
Aldi and Lidl. They do a fine variety at lower prices, and with none of the nasty aftertaste of the stuff now sold in 'Cadburys' wrappers.

Hatespiders · 29/01/2015 15:54

BankWadger I am aren't I? Grin

But I'm the one left with a long face. I haven't weighed myself for months. With all this chocolate-and-cheese abstention I reckoned I'd lost tons of weight. Oh yes, my clothes were hanging off me, I just felt so much lighter, my bum seemed tiny...
My wicked dh persuaded me to weigh myself recently. The evil bastard even got the scales out for me.

Loud wails of despair. No lighter at all. In fact...
Badly concealed sniggers from dh. The swine.
I think I'll LTB.

AlpacaLypse · 29/01/2015 15:55

Waitrose own Belgian Chocolate, £1.62 for 200 g.

Nearest Lidl is 15 miles and Aldi is even further Sad.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/01/2015 15:57

Equal parts relieved and gutted there is agreement that mini eggs have also been tampered with Confused won't be buying any more and I used to get through obscene amounts

WhenIsItHappyTime · 29/01/2015 16:05

I posted about creme eggs recently, they're not nice!
I remember when cadburys tasted lovely, and was wrapped in purple foil. It was special, now it's just yuk. Damn you Kraft!

I had some m and s Belgium chocs for Xmas and they are lovely, they are all different and have real whole nuts on them, unlike Thorntons which are all the same sludge now Envy

madhairday · 29/01/2015 16:09

Ooh can I be in on the chocolate factory? As my grandad was on the team that invented creme eggs (in fact he was responsible for inventing the way the filling was put in the chocolate shell) I have some inside knowledge Wink

If my lovely Grandad was still with us he'd be livid at bloody kraft. They've ruined it. I don't even dare try a creme egg this year, I'd be too upset (my heritage and all that)

Flakes and twirls still taste ok but I think they're also made in Ireland still?

gaggiagirl · 29/01/2015 16:11

I think I've posted this on every Cadbury thread but my tub of heroes from Christmas still haven't been eaten! Still!
What is the world coming to? I have a toddler too and she will eat owt but she won't touch the bastard heroes!

Hatespiders · 29/01/2015 16:14

Madhairday Here's a toast Wine to your late grandfather.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 29/01/2015 16:15

AimlesslyPurposeful I'm in too! Kraft has totally RUINED Cadbury's, the bastards!

PrincessOfChina · 29/01/2015 16:17

Kraft don't own Cadbury. They haven't for more than 2 years.

wowfudge · 29/01/2015 16:19

I haven't read the whole thread, but what are they playing at? To me the taste of Cadbury's Dairy Milk is something I remember from childhood and it's evocative as well as lovely. I mean I like other chocolate too and like to think my tastes are a little more sophisticated these days, but when you want DM, you want bloody DM!

Every damn brand they own will taste the same - maybe that's their cost slashing plan. In which case I hope their profits suffer.

They even messed with the shape of a bar of DM which makes it different in the mouth and just wrong to me.

madhairday · 29/01/2015 16:20

Thankyou hatespiders - he was so lovely. He worked for Cadbury's for 50 years and used to take us to 'the chocolate shop' in Bourneville loads where we got big bags of broken chocolate and loads of extras. It was such a child's paradise then and we loved it. My mum used to work on the production lines too as did my Nana, we have pictures of her and her friends in their 1920s garb with their white hats and pinnys on. They all said it was a lovely place to work and the original Cadbury family really looked after the workers and cared about them, there was always a lovely atmosphere round the factory and it felt a bit like a family.

Here's to the Cadbury's of yesteryear.

wowfudge · 29/01/2015 16:22

They might have changed their name to Mondelez, but it's the same company.

PrincessOfChina · 29/01/2015 16:29

It's not. Kraft Foods continues to trade in the US. It makes complaining to and about Kraft rather pointless. I doubt they give two hoots.

AimlesslyPurposeful · 29/01/2015 16:30

MadHairDay - With your genes you've guaranteed yourself the position of Head of Design For Stuffing Lovely Stuff Inside the lovely Chocolate.

Right, any graphic designers on the thread with packaging ideas or could we just rip off Tiffany blue or Jo Malone black and cream?

Factory in Nottingham (Is that central enough?) here. Just £375K.

wowfudge · 29/01/2015 16:39

Princess Kraft Foods, Inc. changed it's name to Mondelez in 2012. It may still trade using the brand name Kraft and indeed may have a US subsidiary called Kraft, but Mondelez is now the company name. I did check before posting.
