Friends boiler broke down & was fixed for free within 4 days. When mine broke down, I had to apply for a loan to get it fixed & took 4 weeks.

All she's done is moan on Fb it's taken too long.

Felt like adding get a job & try paying for it yourself & then you'd have something to moan about!

Still paying off the sodding loan - how I wish I had a council house ??

The day I get to see a property glowingly advertised as "mid century", I may choke to death with laughter. Grin Are there people that clueless they would be taken in?

Other woman just pulled out, after the housing officers efforts I'm not surprised......probably didn't want to rent from affinity sutton!

Feminine · 28/01/2015 15:41

I am sorry to hear that where how disappointing.
Am currently trying to get a swap too, it is very difficult.

bettyboop1970 · 28/01/2015 15:44

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you find someone to swap with you soon.

Eats - my friends neighbour got so pissed off with the council not repairing her fence that she actually set light to it!!!!! Confused
She blamed local kids and they put up a new one!!!!

sourdrawers · 28/01/2015 15:54

It's not her boiler True. But she gets the use of it for a nominal rate and is fortunate for that. I'm with you OP.. I'd be a bit pissed off at her moaning too.

WooltonPie · 28/01/2015 16:12

Hang around, I mean.

I had the shock of my life regarding my fence in my (HA) home.
One day my housing officer was visiting and commented that the wind had blown down our dilapidated fence.

"you can have a new one " He said.
I was Shock
" yes" He said "just phone the office and tell them what size panels you'd like"

So l did.

Panels were put up.

Maintenance worker told me cheerily :
"I have left a space for a gate"

"great" l said "l will ask my brother"
"no" He replied
"we will come back and out one in"
So....
I have a new fence and gate.

Why they did that us beyond me.

I am still living with a very strange bathroom combo, left by the previous tenant...that the HA think is just fine. Confused

True eat
It is so frustrating.

RocketInMyPocket · 28/01/2015 16:27

Sorry if it's been said, as I've just skimmed, but they've recently changed it so working people get priority now, at least in my borough.
Ie if 2 single mothers with exactly the same 'priority points' or whatever it is apply for a council, only difference being one works and the other doesn't, the working one will get it.

RocketInMyPocket · 28/01/2015 16:28

Someone I know went from number 600 to number 20, just by handing in her proof of employment

bettyboop1970 · 28/01/2015 16:43

I was 'granted permission' to put up my own fence after neighbours staffie kept getting in my garden. When I went to the office to ask for a fence, the officer laughed at me!!!
The house 2 doors up is vacant, the HA have removed all the fence panels previous tennant put up!!!!
Or perhaps the workmen nicked them!!!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 28/01/2015 16:46

eatShit (I have always wanted to say that)

Ask them in writing about the shower they should respond quicker but ask them if you can employ someone to do it rather than them. If they fit it you will get charged In between £500-£900 if you employ a company yourself it will be more like £250

What an ungrateful lot we are, I hope the op is lurking!

CrispyHedgeHogHoHoHo · 28/01/2015 20:32

As far as I know the kitchens are being replaced because of some legislation I think it's called The Decent Homes Standard which is probably googleable.

My kitchen was replaced three years ago. The installation took five weeks. Because it's a cheap crappy one it's already falling apart - there are no young children in my house so it's not that they're swinging off the doors or anything. Just shoddy workmanship. Plug sockets are hanging out of the walls and my electrics are very temperamental since the kitchen fitters did something in the fusebox - yet no fault can be found Hmm

My 45 year old bathroom is due to be replaced sometime this year. I'm waiting with baited breath.

CrispyHedgeHogHoHoHo · 28/01/2015 20:33

Forgot to add. Rents are capped, at least in my borough and the council got round that by splitting the rent into rent and service charges which they can do pretty much what they like with. So although the kitchens etc are free at point of delivery, the service charge increases considerably to cover the cost of it.
