to ask you if you get diarrhea during your period

I have always suffered with diarrhea sorry if I've spelt it incorrectly during my period. Today I've had stomach cramps, runny poo and this evening AF arrived. For some reason I googled it tonight and it turns out according to Google at least that loads of women have this.

All my life I thought I was the only person in the world this happened to and I have always hated it and thought that I was the world's luckiest woman suffering with cramps, bleeding AND diarrhea.

I don't really have that many friendships where I'd be comfortable asking the other person if they have exploding poos when menstruating, so I thought I'd turn to mumsnet and try and canvas other women to see if it happens to them too.

Honestly I am not a troll, just someone who is genuinely curious (naive ham, pom bears, boak),

I actually can't walk on my heavy days as it gives me backache and my hips feel out of line and I feel really heavy - I just usually lie on the sofa like a bloated beached whale

PissedOffRestingFace · 15/01/2015 21:10

I get it during my period and also around ovulation (although I guess I should be grateful that I am ovulating now as it can be helpful when ttc I hear Hmm).

Chuffingelves01 · 15/01/2015 21:25

Oh yes I know the period is due as I have the 'period poo'

KenDoddsDadsDog · 15/01/2015 21:26

I have it too , it's like a pre labour emptying Grin

ProudAS · 15/01/2015 21:29

I'm a bit loose during my period but was far worse in my early teens.

wtffgs · 15/01/2015 21:35

Javelin arse Grin So bad I go cold and sweat with the pain and cling on to the bedpost till it passes. Luverly! Hmm

DanyStormborn · 15/01/2015 21:37

I get mild diarrhoea at the start of most periods.

AnyFucker · 15/01/2015 22:35

Yup, talking about Javelin Arse (I wonder if it was me that coined that phrase on MN...). I was once in a meeting when the javelin struck. I jumped inches off my chair much to the surprise of my colleagues.

JoanHickson · 15/01/2015 22:42

I go into mini shock too Heatseaker, shaking and feeling weak after the loose period poo.

RumbleMum · 15/01/2015 23:16

Yep, me too.

Am I the only one who gets Javelin Fanjo instead of Javelin Arse? Always a nightmare trying to explain why my voice has jumped up an octave during important work conference calls. Smile

WireCat · 15/01/2015 23:27

For me is the stinky wind. It's vile. And the extreme tiredness. My period came today. Yesterday I was falling asleep constantly. Even in the car waiting to go into school.
The wind is something else though. So smelly.

Mrsjayy · 16/01/2015 08:08

Oh jeez the wind it is awful I don't understand what is going on down there for a week it is smelly stabby runny you can't sit you perch yaaaay for being a woman

WitchWay · 16/01/2015 08:16

No periods these days (thank you Mirena!) but I used to be a bit constipated for a couple of days beforehand and then would poo lots for the first day of bleeding. Not loose, just frequent.

hels71 · 16/01/2015 08:22

I get it too....and wind that is just awful. So glad to.find I am not alone!!!!!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/01/2015 08:40

Yes, I know when my period is coming when I start to get diarrhoea.

ghostinthecanvas · 16/01/2015 08:41

RumbleMum I get javelin fanjo too. It kinda goes from arse to fanjo. I always thought it was weird. One of the sorest things ever. Makes me feel sick.

Jill2015 · 16/01/2015 09:46

Javelin Arse is a great phrase. The first time I read it on MN, I thought it exactly described the vicious pain of it. Haven't had it in a while, thankfully, but it's awful.

lucysnowe · 16/01/2015 12:22

It's a thing. Google period shits (er, if you like) :)

ghostinthecanvas · 16/01/2015 15:12

I was thinking about javelin arse/fanjo. I used to wonder if it is internal piles. When our period causes bits to touch that don't normally touch and piles are enlarged veins and there is a vein running very close to the fanjo area, could that be the pain? Cos piles are similar to varicose veins? Possibly overthinking this.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 16/01/2015 15:28

I get this. I pebble dash the bowel and my farts smell like cat shit. Plus the night sweats the day before. Roll on the menopause I say.

violetwellies · 16/01/2015 17:14

Brilliant, only 2 days a year. Lol Grin

Lilmissconcerned · 17/01/2015 23:01

Oh dear... I'm unusual and am the other way.. And once that erm passed period kicks off and pain kicks in ... Everytime weird

45andlookinggood · 22/02/2015 20:21

yes ever since I started as a 11 year old. I always ended up with some illness three days after my period started due to the experience of being hyper the week before then diarrhoea on the first day. My body was drained. The hyperness meant I did not sleep or relax well for the three days leading up to the bleed and so now I take sleeping pills just for the three days leading up and it has stopped me getting ill. Also I have taken peppermint capsules in past that sooth the bowel well.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 22/02/2015 21:04

I used to get chronic wind and explosive poos for the first 2 or 3 days of my (extremely heavy) periods. Horrible.

I now take Cerelle, so don't have period. Bliss.
