To hate the phrase Wine O'Clock?

Bambambini · 13/01/2015 18:56

Just that really, makes my teeth itch. Why do I imagine a crowd of middling aged, middle class women sitting with their glasses of wine who would look down their noses at other women gaily gushing about how they can't wait to get the kids home from school for Buckie O'Clock or White Lightening O'Clock.

I fall way more into the former description and no doubt drink too much wine at times but I just hate the phrase and proud clamouring to be the one start wine o'clock earliest in the day.

I hate it too Grin

I also hate how on facebook nobody can just be going somewhere they have to be "en route to London" for example. Drives me mad! Grin

Bambambini · 13/01/2015 18:57

And yes I know that I'm no doubt going to get a hammering.

YANBU. I bloody hate this phrase-its bounced around on my Facebook feed regularly.

QueenofKelsingra · 13/01/2015 18:58

well as I tend to use it to express that I have had a crap day and need something to help me distress I would be in no position to look down my nose at anyone!

I like the phrase so YABU!

usualsuspect333 · 13/01/2015 19:00

I hate the phrase 'makes my teeth itch' more.

Mintyy · 13/01/2015 19:02

Is this a thread about a thread OP?

And have you been drinking?

It seems a bit ... incoherent.

Try not to be disparaging about middling aged middle class women, there's a love, as there's an awful lot of us on this website.

Ineedacleaningfairy · 13/01/2015 19:03

I had no idea it could be seen like that, I use it to show I want my day to be over "god is it wine O'clock yet? I have run out of energy"

wineoclockthanks · 13/01/2015 19:04

Oh dear Sad

Grin
Strokethefurrywall · 13/01/2015 19:05

What usual and mintyy said - thanks ladies, now I can get back to my wine...

MrsKoala · 13/01/2015 19:05

I don't know many people who use it. i don't know people like that on fb or in rl. I have only read it on here i think.

I assume this is a thread title about a thread title, which i think makes you look a bit mean.

LineRunner · 13/01/2015 19:05

Ageist shite makes my teeth gnash. Fuck itching. That's for wusses.

How do you feel about Beer O'clock?

LineRunner · 13/01/2015 19:07

Oh and usual, you can get the bloody hat back out.

Summerisle1 · 13/01/2015 19:07

An expression that does nothing for me either. Increasingly sounds cringeworthy. Especially when parroted by people on FB who you simply know don't actually drink wine.

That said, as far as I'm concerned, it is always tea o'clock.

usualsuspect333 · 13/01/2015 19:09

I'll take the middle aged, but less off the middle class if you don't mind.

JassyRadlett · 13/01/2015 19:09

Of course you do, because it is incorrect.

The correct phrase is 'Gin o'clock'.

usualsuspect333 · 13/01/2015 19:10

Woo Hoo, liney. Grin

Iveabsolutelynofekkingideadoi · 13/01/2015 19:10

What are these please?

Buckie O'Clock or White Lightening O'Clock.

peasandlove · 13/01/2015 19:10

If we all deleted Facebook this wouldn't be a problem

LineRunner · 13/01/2015 19:10

Cidre o'clock has a certain frisson.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 13/01/2015 19:11

I hate all phrases. Why doesn't everyone just shut up?

iklboo · 13/01/2015 19:11

Gin o'clock or Yardarm Time.

Bowlersarm · 13/01/2015 19:12

Bloody bitchy if this is because of the other thread.

I take it you had the guts to challenge the op on that thread, op?

usualsuspect333 · 13/01/2015 19:12

I like FB. I might post 'It's wine O'clock' as my status in honour of this thread.
