To hate the phrase Wine O'Clock?

Just that really, makes my teeth itch. Why do I imagine a crowd of middling aged, middle class women sitting with their glasses of wine who would look down their noses at other women gaily gushing about how they can't wait to get the kids home from school for Buckie O'Clock or White Lightening O'Clock.

I fall way more into the former description and no doubt drink too much wine at times but I just hate the phrase and proud clamouring to be the one start wine o'clock earliest in the day.

I am particularly irritated by this phrase on a FB status that is followed by poster's friends all posting a photo of their glass of wine too. ODFO. Happily there is an unfriend/unfollow button to restore calm.

RandomNPC · 14/01/2015 02:13

YANBU.
At least tired.com, angry.com (and all the crappy variations) appear to have died a death on FB. As have all those shit Bitstrips cartoons.

Ugh.

Why does anybody need to "hate" a phrase?

Live & live .

I use wine o clock for when I'm stressed out.

There are plenty of phrases I don't like but I wouldn't start a bitchy thread about them Confused.

Hmm
Sprinkfest · 14/01/2015 03:12

ShakesBooty I do that whole posting my drink thing on FB every once in a whole and a small group of friends follows suit.

We have a deal that when any of us is feeling particularly sad about the untimely death of our dear friend last year we should perform a virtual toast in her memory.

MidniteScribbler · 14/01/2015 03:22

Well it's the middle of the afternoon here, and I'm on holidays on an island. DS is building an impressive architectural creation with duplo on the patio, the dogs are snoring after a long morning running around the beach, so I'm about to go sit by the pool, look at the view and make encouraging noises about his talents. It is most definitely wine o'clock where I am. And if someone doesn't like that, then it's 'go fuck yourself o'clock'.

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 14/01/2015 03:29

Sprinkfest the virtual toast to a departed friend sounds like a nice thing to do.

Regular wine o'clock virtual toast for wine o'clock's sake, well, I'd be unfollowing and saying ODFO at the screen Grin

Sprinkfest · 14/01/2015 14:02

ShakesBooty between your reply and MidniteScrambler's post, I sense a Fuck O'Clock theme. Which is possibly what is truly meant by Wine O'Clock in the first place. Wink
