I don't get the hate this girl is getting. She's escaped from a country at war, came to the uk as a pennyless immigrant and built herself up to be a multi millionaire and one of the most successful British female artisits of all time (most no 1s) and works a lot in the fashion and pr world.

Some other mums were bitching about her, aibu to stick up for her?

She is a crap role model. Attending envelope openings with all her bits hanging out. Desperate attention seeking woman. And really rude to staff behind the scenes. YABU.

ilovesooty · 13/01/2015 09:50

Correct other mums? Why? You have your opinion and they have theirs.

wishmiplass · 13/01/2015 09:50

YABU - she was terrible on The Voice. I actually felt she overstepped the mark with the young guy (keyboard player/singer). Made me feel a bit ewww.

yeeehaaaa · 13/01/2015 09:51

It is well known that she fucked her way to the too. including Jay-z

MissPenelopeLumawoo2 · 13/01/2015 09:51

I really don't know enough about her to comment on whether she is a good role model, but I think YABU for wanting to 'correct other mums'. Who made you the thought police? They can have whatever opinion of her they like.

yeeehaaaa · 13/01/2015 09:51

top even

Writerwannabe83 · 13/01/2015 09:57

I also found it uncomfortable how she kept commenting on how hot the men were and how she was acting towards the 17 year old boy.

I'm sure if one of the male judges had behaved like that towards female contestants there would be a lot of unhappy viewers.

wishmiplass · 13/01/2015 10:00

Writer absolutely. Ricky gives me the willies as well and Will-i-am's schtick is wearing a bit thin now. In fact, why the hell do I watch it?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 13/01/2015 10:02

"Correct" them? How arrogant.

TheWitTank · 13/01/2015 10:03

I have a friend in the 'spotlight' and lots of "well known facts" which have been a complete load of balls (seriously, complete fiction) have been in the media. Don't believe everything you read about someone. Or anything most of the time.

Fudgeface123 · 13/01/2015 10:08

It is well known that she fucked her way to the too. including Jay-z

You know that for a fact do you? What a vile thing to say

Ohmygrood · 13/01/2015 10:11

I only saw it for a bit but I liked her. I don't know anything about her really but I thought that she came across well.

Ricky seems a bit full of himself though.

Samcro · 13/01/2015 10:13

i liked her on the voice
I find that women can never win on there, other women always want to pull them down.

Nanny0gg · 13/01/2015 10:27

and one of the most successful British female artists of all time (most no 1s)

How depressing.

amispoilt · 13/01/2015 10:43

So a woman can't even call a guy hot these days?

So sad for people to assume just because she is very successful she must of fucked her way to the top!

OP posts:
ILovePud · 13/01/2015 10:47

You're not BU to stick up for her but I'd agree with PP's who've questioned your idea about 'correcting' them. Personally I found her a bit sleazy when she was addressing the contestant who was a fire-fighter, I thought it was disrespectful to him and to his partner backstage. That's nothing to do with me 'wanting to pull other women down' though, I'd have had the same opinion if the gender roles were reversed.

SeeChooJimmy · 13/01/2015 10:57

Yanbu I love Rita ora, she's successful, talanted, beautiful and has worked bloody hard for it

but haters will always hate as they say!

CrispyFern · 13/01/2015 11:05

Don't know anything about her but saying she fucked her way to the top is such horrid misogynistic crap I have to say so. You ought to be ashamed of yourself yeeeehaaaa.

LittleMissRayofHope · 13/01/2015 11:06

I couldn't really care how she got so popular. Through hard work or through shagging everyone.
I don't think she's a great role models or young women. I wouldn't want my dd watching her to be honest but that's my opinion.
Why do you get to 'correct' me? Why am I wrong?

Maybe I should correct you.
YANBU to have your own opinion.
YABU to automatically assume your opinion supersedes mine.

FightOrFlight · 13/01/2015 11:27

YABU to want to 'correct' other mums

YANBU to think she gets a lot of undeserved hate.

I think she's a pretty girl and makes some reasonable records. I am quite surprised at how many people feel so strongly about her (in a negative way). Maybe they are party to some undisclosed, secret information about her Confused

WorraLiberty · 13/01/2015 11:30

Haha @ correct other Mums!

Either join in the convo and tell them your opinion on her or don't.

Lj8893 · 13/01/2015 11:33

I liked her on the voice. I agree she acted quite embarrassingly sleezy over the firefighter and i would have felt disrespected if i was his partner. But it was all a bit of an act really, and she did apologise to him and said she didn't mean to embarrass him after he had picked Ricky.

i don't know enough about her to comment weather she is a good role model but i liked her.

guitarosauras · 13/01/2015 11:34

Yanbu for liking her but others aren't either for disliking her.

yabu for wanting to 'correct' others! Is it the gospel according to amispoilt?

Wouldn't the world be dull if we all liked the same things.

guitarosauras · 13/01/2015 11:36

Fwiw, I have no view on the woman. Never a fan nor dislike her (or rather how the media portray her).

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 13/01/2015 11:47

YABU as you clearly don't know what you are talking about.

One of the best selling British female artists of all time because had the most number ones? She had 4 number ones. That is the same as Geri Haliwell ffs.

She had an album in 2012,woo.

Escaped a country at war, came here as a penniless immigrant and worked her way up? She was one year old when her parents decided to move the family to the UK...

I'm pretty sure babies generally are classed as penniless and needing to work their way up in the world
