To be worried about the Ched Evans threads on here

Sorry but this does seem like a witchunt to me. Many of the posters (who have signed the petition) obviously have little knowledge of the case. At one point a poster said Sports Direct would withdraw sponsorship if Evans was NOT signed and immediately others were vowing to boycott. Laughable and shows the level of thought before clicking. Online justice and the court of public opinion, not for me. As for expecting football, an industry corrupt from the very top (Sepp Blatter) and inherently sexist, to show any moral stance, get real.

Re the website - when it first came out, it had the "inadmissible witness statements" on it which was basically 6 people raking the dirt on the victim - about her promiscuity. I think they've been removed now. They were pretty nasty, and as we all know, are completely irrelevant to whether she was raped that night or not.

CE's supporters were outraged at this.

The CE website invites people into the "she's a money grabbing slut" school of thought - claiming she was not drunk (when other cctv footage and eyewitnesses say she was) and that she is lying (the when I win big tweets - that are not even verified). It absolutely is defamatory to the victim. Shows CE out to be a jolly nice chap, and completely vilifies the victim.

The whole thing is a lesson in cherry picked information and spin.

So according to some the victim was after a payout?

Oh yes. That will be why she couldn't remember the actual rape. That will be why she went to the police to report the loss of her bag, not an assault. That will be why she's had to take on new identities and move house.
Some people are so dense it's unbelievable.

ilovesooty · 14/01/2015 09:17

And yes. If Ched Evans was truly remorseful about the victim's suffering that grubby little site would have been taken down.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 14/01/2015 10:27

Ched's supporters appear to believe that this woman was clever enough to, in her very (wet the bed and vomited everywhere) hungover state, concoct a very clever, guaranteed to end in conviction and get the dollars rolling in, plan. A plan which involved not actually accusing anyone of rape, but telling the police about her lost handbag (which luckily for her she had left behind in her drunken state, givin her a good reason to go to the police) and crossing everything that Evans and CM would hang themselves wit their own rope.

Simultaneously, the believe that she was stupid enough to wrote about the whole thing all over social media, but then savvy enough to delete it all again?

Also on these 'deleted Facebook messages' - if they were deleted, and no one can find them now, how exactly do they know they existed in the first place? Surely whoever saw them to verify they existed knows what they said?! It does say that, when asked, she said she was tidying up her Facebook. Asked by who, the police? How did they know about the messages inthe first place?

And if she had been mouthing off on FB and twitter about it, as they suggest, then I just can't believe that, given the large reward on offer, someone hasn't come forward about it. That someone wouldn't have thought, 'no what she is doing is wrong, plus I will get some money, I will go to the police'.

It's just ludicrous!

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 14/01/2015 10:33

And in the FAQ section of the website it asks were the jury privy to information not available on the website?

THey answer: 'A. Absolutely not, the transcript of the trial is a matter of public record and available to view'

Firstly the 'absolutely not' is a lie - what about the other CCTV from that night, for starters? Also they say that the full transcript (ie. the unsanitised and unedited version of events) is available to view to the public. But it's not linked anywhere on the website, so umm, its not on the website then is it you fucking dumb asses. So another lie.

I really hope this website gets taken down sometime soon.

ilovesooty · 14/01/2015 10:48

The Web site is registered to Evans even if Karl Massey runs it.
If his involvement breaches his parole conditions in any way he should be returned to prison to serve out his sentence.

Icimoi · 14/01/2015 12:53

I'm wondering what on earth is taking the Attorney-General's office so long. The website has been around for ages, and it's been reasonably high profile ever since his release and the original kerfuffle about Sheffield taking him back.

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 04:25

Interesting article today in the Guardian about 'True Friend and Supporter' Ciaran Goggins.

Sorry I can't link as currently on Kindle, but it's online on the Guardian site.

If scum-sucking bottom-feeders like that are welcome supporters (albeit hastily disowned when questioned), it tells you an awful lot, doesn't it?

I refuse to click on that website because I don't want to give them the traffic, but I've yet to hear about one actual 'fact' - as opposed to allegations and character assassinations - on it that wasn't assessed in court.

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 08:12

Thanks for doing the link, rooty.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 16/01/2015 09:13

Ok, so lets just get this straight - Ciaran Goggins was one of 19 people arrested in relation to comments he made about Ched's case, there was a picture of him on the website, he has had several twitter accounts suspended, and he claims that they emailed him in 2013 to can him a 'hero'.

And yet, Ched's people had no idea he had made any derogatory comments on social media until last week?

Right, no, of course, yes that makes perfect sense........oh no....wait.....no it doesn't it sounds like utter arsebollocks.

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 10:25

It's a Guardian exclusive. Good to see them expose the rancid underbelly of the Ched Evans campaign.

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 15:03

The Guardian is now running an additional story that the Attorney General has referred the CE 'support' web site to the Crown Prosection Service, as there may have been a contempt of court.

About time.

slug · 16/01/2015 15:06

I'm beginning to think that the closest, most significant relationship here is not between Ched Evans and his fiancee, but between Ched Evans and Karl Massey. It's almost as if he offered him his daughter as a gift to seal the relationship.

Completely off the point I know.

lalalonglegs · 16/01/2015 15:06

More from the Guardian - the CPS has been asked by the Attorney General to look at whether charges can be brought against the people behind the CE website here as it may have contributed towards identifying the victim.

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 15:07

Thanks for that link.

lalalonglegs · 16/01/2015 15:07

oops, x-post with linerunner

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 15:09

Indeed! But I can't do links on my device, so thanks for doing that.

Deux · 16/01/2015 17:21

I'm heartened to see this referred to the CPS.

Did anyone read about the Leeds youth footballer charged with raping a too drunk to consent woman? It's horrible. Sorry it's the DM www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2909826/Leeds-youth-player-friend-raped-young-woman-filmed-her.html

Is this a 'thing' among footballers?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 16/01/2015 17:21

Thanks for posting that - good news. I hope the CPS goes ahead.

LineRunner · 16/01/2015 17:26

I think it may well be a thing.

And reinforces why CE cannot be a role model.
