fag butt in my loo?

Dinner party last night, lots of good friends and one friend with a husband I don't know very well. He smokes, I said fine, you can smoke in the back garden. He went a few times made jokes about how cold it was '...minus one degree now!!' etc etc. There is a small extra toilet, in a tiny bathroom, next to my back door. I went in this morning and the window was open and a fag butt was floating in the bowl! I felt sick. AIBU to ask him about it?

Just throw a few sheets of loo paper on top and flush the loo again. It will be gone and so will your sickness feeling

A Turd is a natural function and sometimes they just dont go away. You think they have but then you turn your back and they re-appear. Its just one of this things and as yucky as it is - its life.

A fag end is something different entirely and its not as if the OP said to the bloke - do not do a jobbie in my lavvie and he did regardless.

I'm a smoker and would be really pissed off at this too! It is my choice to smoke therefore I must suffer the outside temperatures! I don't smoke inside my own home. I would send him a photo of the loo and with the "manky bastard" words someone said above!

Belle yes I would feel sick if I saw this in my loo, turns my stomach just thinking about it, completely disgusting.

Really? Tinker I'm genuinely not being facetious but i can't get my head around someone feeling sick at the sight of an innocuous little fag end bobbing around in the bog! I hate smoking and there is nothing worse than the smell of fags, but I would find it hard to get het up at a fag end, especially with no offending accompanying smell!

In fact I would much rather have 20 fag ends than someone leaving evidence (olfactory or visual) that they had shat in there!

I'm a non-smoker and would be far more wound-up by people stubbing out their ciggies and leaving the butts in the plant pots on the patio than a single filter floating in the loo. That's a lot more disrespectful in my view!

I'd have set up an area outside with a bucket of sand so people could stub out and leave the butts in the sand, then get rid the next day.

you feel sick because someone left the butt of a fag in your toilet? flush and move on... its no big deal and certainly not something worth feeling sick over.

Oh I would be really cross that he had smoked inside my home. I'm a smoker, but never ever smoke inside. Rude self centred man. I would tell my friend.

I'd be more angry about him leaving the window open (so that my home wasn't secure and all my heat was pouring out...)
I'd lead with that - and then move on to WHY the window was open - in front of witnesses if you are likely to see him again soon, or via his wife if you see her first.

It's not worth mentioning, years ago something like this wouldn't have been a big deal. It's not nice and he shouldn't have done it but he probably did it without thinking. Smokers deserve pity (it's not their fault cigarettes are made so addictive) not condemnation. The governments hypocritical hate campaign against smokers has definitely worked.
