I haven't consulted dh and dc yet, I don't think they'll approve but I've had enough of them now! I've had a lovely Christmas but I need to get some order back which won't happen until the decorations come down.
I should leave them really but they are making me panicky!!

Wtf is undecodate??????

Slubberdegullion · 28/12/2014 18:56

I'll be taking mine down in the 4th. I would usually wait until 12th night but I won't be home before sunset on the 5th to get them done so the Sunday it will have to be.

Love that you do a King Cake with your family Holly. I've made huge ones before when I've hosted a 12th night party, but not thought of doing a small one just for the four of us to mark the end of the celebrations. Might pinch that idea from you Smile

We didnt have any up in the first place! nowt to take down, just a small two foot twig tree thing to shove in a cupboard! This a because we have had major work done in the living room and up to 16th dec were living in a building site- after decorating/new caperts, french doors etc, didnt want to spoil the whole new look with xmas decs, please we didnt either!
I actaully hate the whole grotto look!!

I take them down either the night before DS goes back to school or the first day he is back at school because in our house, the festive season doesn't end till then. I usually try to make sure there are treats and stuff during the later part of the holiday, as well as just Xmas day. I'm used to there being decorations up in people's houses if they are hosting a NYE party, as well (same as in pubs and clubs) but I wouldn't say I exactly care what other people do.

Bulbasaur · 29/12/2014 16:00

We took them all down last night. DD kept trying to eat the tree. No more of that. God only knows what sparkly colors will be in her diaper later. Grin

Maybe next year when she's bigger we'll keep them out longer. But this year they were down fast for practical reasons.

I like to keep mine up until the weekend before the children go back to school. My Birthday is on the 30th but I still keep the tree up plus I like having the lights and tree up for NYE. I put mine up very early in December this year too.

homealone42 · 29/12/2014 20:38

Personally I feel decs go up too early. Put them up 18th Dec and take down 12th night here but each to their own.

Iamblossom · 29/12/2014 21:50

Just taken mine down. Couldn't go whole hog anyway this year due to building work....will go all out next year....

Taken ours down and done a huge declutter. Have loads of space all of a sudden. Stress levels plummeted.

CallMeExhausted · 30/12/2014 00:03

I have an artificial tree, so the "dead" part isn't relevant, but I would have it down by now. I am a Boxing Day packing up traditionalist.

However, I have recently had surgery and can't walk - surgery was on my foot - and I can't rely on the family to take it down. Unless I lose my marbles and try to do it while on crutches, I will not get anything out away until mid-January.

It is going to drive me NUTS.

Kaekae . Happy Birthday! FlowersCakeWine

Only the tree and the wreath on the front door are still up , I usually take them down on NYD.

But I will keep using my Christmas toilet paper until it's finished Blush

NorwaySpruce · 30/12/2014 04:45

I'm dreading taking ours down.

We put them up at the start of Advent, and keep them up til the 6th Jan.

The (real) tree looks better than it did before Christmas, and the little lights are so warm and twinkly Xmas Grin.

If I get to be old, and live alone, I'm going to keep a secret room full of Christmas stuff, and I'll go in and switch on the fairy lights whenever I like - even in July Xmas Grin
