Salted Caramel and pulled pork.

Delicious but everywhere.

Anything to add?

It isn't healthier, it isn't just as tasty, just admit it's a fad that makes you feel speshul

Erm, yes it is healthier to eat meat, fish and vegetables rather than processed crap and to cook with oils which don't become trans fats when heated. And it is just as tasty. Actually.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 27/12/2014 16:31

Triple cooked chips, how can they be cooked three times?

Cook potatoes then fry the chips twice I believe.

Stealthpolarbear · 27/12/2014 16:32

H yes those doughnuts that are Krispy Kreme texture. They're just round, dense cakes. Proper doughnuts should be light have raspberry jam in the middle and sugar on the outside. And no icing.

momb · 27/12/2014 16:45

hahaha! I got married in the summer and you are all moaning about my wedding food: street food, pulled pork, paella, fat chips, caramel wafers for coffee, ice cream van, sweetie buffet.
Served a cake of cheeses on a huge tree slice. Unhygienic!
'Twas bloody lovely!!

momb · 27/12/2014 16:47

...and local ale :-D

Stealthpolarbear · 27/12/2014 16:52

:o weddings are meant to be a bit poncey tho, that's part of the fun. It's when you are presented with this stuff at the local pub that used to do fish and chips or sausage and mash.

ChippyMinton · 27/12/2014 17:02

momb - I bet it was luvverly Smile This thread is more about every Tom Dick and Tesco jumping aboard the bandwagon and over-doing it!

Which reminds me - the fakey chalkboard font that is on every label, menu and... er... chalkboard is a big fat pointer to the clichés!

TheOldestCat · 27/12/2014 17:47

I love it when something I really like gets trendy. Have loved real ale for years, but now it comes with a side serving of hipster...

Means there's lots of it about, which is good!

rhetorician · 27/12/2014 17:53

cronuts, or was that last year?

DoubleValiumLattePlease · 27/12/2014 18:12

This is not just this year - and it's been annoying me for ever and ever - Pizza with toppings that should NEVER ever be on a pizza - like...........Pulled Pork! Or kebab meat. Or tikka anything. Ghastly. Double ghastly! Stop it now!

PuppyMonkey · 27/12/2014 18:20

Fish finger sandwiches that cost a tenner.

SarfEasticated · 27/12/2014 18:24

I am completely over the dirty burgers and buttermilk fried chicken followed by churros they sell at our nearby market - delicious every now and then, but I felt a bit Elvis-esque. I love sweet and salty popcorn though, and salted caramel icecream. Everything else is just boring. I wonder what the next big thing will be for next year...

TheFourthLobster · 27/12/2014 18:25

Artisan Bread. Everywhere.
I don't mind salted caramel but it's meant a lot of places have stopped the chilli and chocolate combination which I love.

SarfEasticated · 27/12/2014 18:27

Ah, forgot the gelato places that have opened up everywhere - £3 a scoop! delish but vey'spensive.

Safmellow · 27/12/2014 19:44

It's the surroundings too - last fancy meal I had was in a cellar, no daylight, on plastic camp chairs pulled up to an old sewing machine table, we couldn't even fit all the glasses and plates on it! The coffee at the end came with a custard cream on the saucer which looked like it had been kicked round the back yard a few times.

Maybe my age, but I yearn for a big comfy chair and a nice view out of the window...

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 27/12/2014 20:10

Here's s particularly dirty burger, served on a board with a silver bucket of chips

Neverbuyheliumbalonz · 27/12/2014 20:48

Fucking 'street food'.

usefully · 27/12/2014 21:02

I have never heard of most of these. Do you all live in London?

PoppyAmex · 27/12/2014 21:32

Pop up restaurants.

Awful salted caramel combos.

ChrissieLatham · 27/12/2014 21:35

Handcrafted beverages from Starbucks Hmm

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/12/2014 21:41

Juicing and pulping absolutely fucking everything. Plenty of time for that when we're in the old people's home.
Paper straws that STILL go mushy after first sip.

I think you could fry things on those big flat grill things in restaurants, rather than in a pan.
