Oh and he asks me every so often "Have you had your hair done?" on the off chance that he might get it right.

Godcreatedcricket · 23/12/2014 22:14

When my husband and I first starting seeing each other and he lovingly gazed into my eyes and said "Do you know who you really look like...? Alan Hansen"
I'd hoped he'd say an actress, singer perhaps. At the very least someone the same gender as me..!

AlpacaYourThings · 23/12/2014 22:14

Oh ok, phew.

My mouth actually dropped open when I read that the first time. I was grumpy on your behalf! Xmas Smile

HellKitty · 23/12/2014 22:16

He always shouts -
'DO YOU NEED ANY FANNY PADS?'
In the middle of supermarkets.

LoofahVanDross · 23/12/2014 22:16

This thread is hilarious.

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 22:16

What a wanker.

ilovesooty · 23/12/2014 22:17

SoonToBeMrsB · 23/12/2014 22:18

Alan Hansen

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 22:19

Did he grovel big time after his gaff?

DandyHighwayman · 23/12/2014 22:21

I was given a compliment by a fellow with High Hopes:

Him: you look a million dollars
Me:
Him: shame about the Exchange Rate
Me: massive hmmmm face

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 22:29

Did he tell you you were beautiful now in a different way? I actually dont think this is funny, I think this is very hurtful and he needs to make amends for it.

Balderdabble · 23/12/2014 22:35

My DH once told me "you have a touch of Mick Hucknell about you"!! Shock

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 22:39

Im obviously missing the humour here. I dont get women laughing about nasty comments their partners say to them. But hey, if that floats your boat then Im sure its fine.

puntasticusername · 23/12/2014 22:44

Alan Hanson?! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

And Tinks - do piss off. But have a happy Christmas, eh Wink

ilovesooty · 23/12/2014 22:47

Alan Hansen - I take it he's a Liverpool fan? Grin

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 22:51

pssssss..... and lets hope santa brings you all many a derogatory comment that you can laugh about Grin

bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 23/12/2014 22:52

I once asked DH if a skirt made my knees look fat, he replied "I don't think it's the skirt" Confused

SoonToBeMrsB · 23/12/2014 22:54

Tinks

Then go away and don't comment, no one is forcing you to. Way to bring down a thread.

DoubleValiumLattePlease · 23/12/2014 22:55

My lovely DH once said - in company - "when Double takes her bra off all her wrinkles disappear"

Cheeky fucker Grin

HellKitty · 23/12/2014 22:56

Well somebody looks like they'll get a visit from three ghosts tomorrow night .

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 22:57

I posted an opinion, no one forced me to, and no-one has to take any notice then.

Bulbasaur · 23/12/2014 22:58

Tinks It's not a nasty comment we're all talking about, it's a well intended compliment that came out a disaster and ended with them back peddling or putting their foot in their mouth. No one would be laughing if their DP's were seriously cutting them down.

DH was feeling insecure about his looks, which really he shouldn't he's a great looking guy. I was trying to be a smart ass and told him he looked great and that "I'm certainly not using your for you personality, that's for sure!" when really I meant, he was attractive and if I wasn't attracted to his personality first and foremost I'd still be attracted to him on a physical level. It was suppose to be a clever, "I'm using you for sex" play on words, but it came out pretty bad.

Anyway, that's what we're talking about. Not deliberate back handed compliments meant to hurt.

Tinks42 · 23/12/2014 23:03

You take it your way, which is fine by me. The poster didnt back up the mean comment by saying he was lovely to her did she.

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 23/12/2014 23:09

Oh fuck off Tinks, god I swear you just go on threads to wind people up. Feel free to report me!

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 23/12/2014 23:10

Anyway...

My DH once told me I was the most important thing in his life.

"THING"!?
