How did people get through life before mumsnet! You know that you don't have to consult Mumsnet over every little thing in your life Xmas Smile. Examples include: i told a boy not to hit my ds in softplay AIBU, AIBU to refuse a tradesperson to use my toilet, omg a stranger ruffled my toddlers hair and I am bricking myself!

OP, there's nothing wrong with your spelling and grammar so I've been curious for months about your idiosyncratic spelling of "maybe" as "mabey" What's that about?

Aeroflotgirl · 17/12/2014 16:53

Sometimes I type in haste, that I don't think about my spelling. maybe has always been confusing for me though.

That's the beauty of mn isn't it? You can pretty much post what you want, and if people want to reply they will, if they don't they won't.

If someone wants to post a thread titled 'aibu to like putting cheese on my beans' well it's up to them.

Bulbasaur · 17/12/2014 16:57

I grew up spelling it as "mabey" and no one ever corrected me, no teachers all the way through high school either. I was convinced I was right and added it to spell check dictionary figuring it just wasn't added in. Until one day DB finally snapped and told me that adding words to the computer's dictionary didn't mean they were correct. Went through all the effort of showing me websites that proved he was correct. I still use it sometimes to bug him.

Don't worry, people have already told me that Sad - blue face now.

Carrierpenguin · 17/12/2014 18:04

Yabu. If you don't like the mundane threads then ignore them. Some people are bored, bothered by these things, lonely, anxious or whatever.

FedUpMilitaryWife · 17/12/2014 18:21

YABU Grin MN is brilliant. I wish I'd had it when my dc were little I think it would have saved my sanity. Thing is, these days we're all dispersed from our families and you will realise from my name that we have moved around loads of times. So there isn't the support network of aunts cousins and neighbours who've all had babies before you. When I had my first it was the first baby in our family since my brother 35 years before. I had no-one to ask, no-one to discuss pros and cons with, no-one to run my opinion by. Mothers don't know their own minds any more, partly because there's always some 'advice' from a professional that tells you you're getting everything wrong. My HV made my life a misery for 3 years. If I'd had MN I would have had everyone telling me she was BU but as it was I didn't have the confidence to disagree with her.

Aeroflotgirl · 17/12/2014 18:23

Your right Fedup it is like that, health professionals don't always know, when I was worried about dd, and I started a thread, a lot of people were so supportive and basically told me that she could have ASD, which it turned out she did.

Does anyone have any ideas about how you could giftwrap a Christmas wreath.

SoleSource · 17/12/2014 18:48

Put wreath in a box.

meltedmonterayjack · 18/12/2014 10:05

sole good idea. Box would probably cost more than making the wreath though.

oh a bitchy thread that is really meant to be funny Hmm

mn is hilarious at times

timetoplay · 18/12/2014 12:14

Reassurance, social networking, chatting, ranting, needing validation...so many reasons people post. The ones I eye roll at is where the op refuses to accept they are unreasonable despite many saying and refusing to listen to the manys reasoning. I must admit there are some repeat posters that I see coninstantly asking about the same thing and ignoring the actual root problem which was pointed out long ago. I now just skip the posts because it's sad to see and no point replying with support that's not listened to or acknowledged. But that happens on many social sites, people like to know they arent unreasonable but nothing else.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2014 12:17

Freaudian have a Xmas Biscuit, its not bitchy at all!

OP posts:
FreudiansSlipper · 18/12/2014 12:31

I have been here long enough to see through threads like these. still you have your supporters behind you

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2014 13:03

What Freaudian, the thread is as it is! Yes I am glad my 'supporters' see the funny side and have a sense if perspective. It was nearly an observation which I posted about, I don't know what your seeing?

OP posts:
Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2014 13:03

Why not shout troll while your at it too!

OP posts:
FreudiansSlipper · 18/12/2014 13:12

its my opinion I see it as being bitchy I have seen these threads many times

and why would I shout troll Hmm I would rather report a thread and are you not a regular on here

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2014 13:25

It was not meant to be bitchy, I know my intentions, I can't control how you perceive it, yes, I have seen people asking people on Mumsnet when do they change their underwear, is it ok to go a week without changing your towels. A tradesman asked to use my toilet help!

OP posts:
Floggingmolly · 18/12/2014 13:25

I think op is a regular, actually???

Aeroflotgirl · 18/12/2014 13:26

How can it be bitchy when it's not directed at any particular person or persons, it's just something I have noticed.
