To have found Tamsin Grieg slightly mean on Graham Norton

Firstly she looked amazing, if a bit uncomfortable showing that level if Uber oiled flesh... Lordy Tamsin! I mean I have to tip my hat to how fit she is and how buff she looks although it did make me wonder about the maxim after 30 (or is it after 40) Either show arms OR legs not both.

BUT that story she told about her dad saying on his deathbed 'don't let yourself go like your mother did.' I guess is fine if you are an only child but Greig isn't. It seems massively tactless and Lots of people can't keep as buff as Greig at her age for all sorts of different reasons. I was surprised at how unkind she sounded.

But it's not a hanging offence to have an opinion.

Wanna bet? You're on AIBU, y'know! Grin

brandyandcoke · 15/12/2014 20:57

Googled. She reminds me of SJP

wonderstuff · 15/12/2014 21:04

I thought she was fab. The dress was fine, she was lovely - I was confused by the Lynsey Lohan references from GN, but whatever.

I've got tickets to see her play - I was a bit disappointed she didn't say more about it - I'm very excited.

ghostyslovesheep · 15/12/2014 21:05

blimey do you spend your whole day watching TV and reading way too much into everything?

she was telling an anecdote and making a joke - while wearing a perfectly ordinary dress

wonderstuff · 15/12/2014 21:07

I don't think she was intending to have a dig at anyone or be remotely self-congratulating, she was just telling an amusing anecdote. She was laughing at the inappropriateness of his comment, not at anyone's appearance.

SwedishEdith · 15/12/2014 21:11

Tbh, I thought the punchline was going to be that he died before he said the punchline.

Marcelinewhyareyousomean · 15/12/2014 21:11

I luffs TG. I want a bevvy with Mel Sue, TG, Prof Tanya and Claudia. (more to be added)

motherinferior · 15/12/2014 21:16

And newsflash - the GN show has makeup artists who doll you up before you go on.

Chippednailvarnish · 15/12/2014 21:33

Is there not a kind of gym-body, body-con dressing and body-oiling, body-polishing, body-shining and showing-off that is a very tiny bit aggressive?

Wow Op you really have some ishoos.

MyIronLung · 15/12/2014 21:38

I've just watched this on iplayer and I was waiting to be horrified by Tamsins meanness...didn't happen.

I thought she looked fantastic and she totally held her own in that line up (not easy with Jim Carey sitting on the sofa). I also didn't think she looked uncomfortable, I thought she seemed a bit restrained (quite English if you like) but then again, if you're sitting next to Jim C then anything will seem restrained Grin

SoggyOldBiscuit · 15/12/2014 21:40

I am surprised that she is considered to be gorgeous. As I was reading through this thread, I started thinking "Oh, it can't be the person I am thinking of, she isn't good looking at all!"

But then I googled Tamsin Greig and it is the woman I was thinking of.

That isn't being mean, just from a visual point of view I am very surprised that she would be considered good looking. In the photos from Graham Norton, she looks very muscly and thin, that dress isn't flattering to her at all. It looks like a dress that would be appropriate for a much younger woman.

motherinferior · 15/12/2014 21:45

Tamsin Greig isn't cheesecakey. There is a quirkiness and intelligence that comes through - her looks are a particular and not v mainstream type (I have a DVD of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere in which she is quite stunning in a pre-Raphaelite way). V talented and intelligent actor.

furcoatbigknickers · 15/12/2014 21:47

Had to google who she was. I think shes a great actress but not the least bit attractive. It was a mean think for her dad to say. She really shouldn't repeat it ad a funny antedote. Poor mother.

furcoatbigknickers · 15/12/2014 21:48

I thought it was about the awful outwaite women at first!

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 15/12/2014 21:57

What was the point of the anecdote about her father's death bed utterances? It was a horribly disloyal thing to say about her mother. And especially on National TV. Did she mean she took it on board and therefore works her abs daily, to please her dead father?

YvesJutteau · 15/12/2014 22:00

What's wrong with being muscly? I'd kill to be muscly.

Granted, I wouldn't curb my cake habit or go to the gym more often, but a bit of light homicide...

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 15/12/2014 22:04

YvesJutteau - Nothing at all wrong with being muscly.

YvesJutteau · 15/12/2014 22:11

I think the point was that you expect someone's deathbed advice to his child to be profound, or moving, or something similarly elevated, but what she actually got was that . And then a wry appreciation that at least he'd be happy.

TamzinGrey · 15/12/2014 22:20

Alpha you've hit the point spot on. I'm a huge TG fan but I thought that the story about her father on his deathbed was nasty, and, if true, must be painful for her poor mother to hear. What was the point of it? I thought that she seemed nervous and edgy. Agree with someone upthread that Graham seemed to be ignoring her for most of the prog. As for the dress. I thought that she looked fabulous, but a little too shiny.

Showy · 15/12/2014 22:35

I thought she came across very well indeed. She is an erudite, poised and funny lady. I also happen to think she looks fabulous, not that it matters a jot. She takes good care of herself clearly. I find her immensely likeable.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 15/12/2014 23:05

I keep looking at her arms. I'm going to get me some dumbells. I might even use them...

Any hoo, Tamsin's in my imaginary sitcom. She has a great recurring guest role.

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 16/12/2014 03:39

Not sure why you are taking such a pounding OP. I didn't really like the story either.

GettingFiggyWithIt · 16/12/2014 04:02

Well I would like to thank you OP for bringing my attention to Tamsin being on GN as I am not in uk so now have something to youtube. Was not keen on the dress from the stills but adore her...
black books, episodes, green wing, friday night dinner, love soup, Tamara drewe....she was fab in all of them. Not so keen on her adding to all the lovies saying stay to Scotland in the referendum but each to their own. She seems shrewd, intelligent, charming and supportive to her fellow actors. If she is buff due to making a bit more cash and being in a comedy that is also a hit in the States - ooh, the irony given the plotlines about how shallow the industry is- good for her to be honest. Even with a dietician or a gym instructor you still need to put the work in. I love the fact that she has been a romantic lead despite not being the usual archetype for that, it is refreshing and I find her more interesting to look at.

JapaneseMargaret · 16/12/2014 04:24

Wow, Noelle, I total get what you're saying.

I'm a bit gobsmacked at the vitriol on this thread. It seems like people are wilfully misunderstanding you. Confused

Glastokitty · 16/12/2014 05:25

Women judging women on their attractiveness rather than their talent. Nice. So much for equality, eh?
