Good evening! So...I drunkenly offered to organise a Carol concert at work...and my mind's gone blank! I can think of 'Away in a Manger' and 'Noel'...then brain block! Need some popular ones that everyone knows? TIA

Can I make a suggestion? Why not open with a solo, then send them out with the most rousing, everybody knows it one you can think of- Hark the herald Angels Sing for example.

And for your solo, pick your favourite!

Coventry Carol
Sussex Carol
Sweet Chiming Bells (I love this one - so simple and pretty!)

Or While Shepherds Watched sung to Cranbrook (On Ilkeley Moor! It works perfectly - see the Kate Rusby While Mortals Sleep Album)

Good King Sensesless fell out
On a Silent Evenin
All the Shepherds laughed aloud
Cos his name was Stevin

Hark 'n' Herald had a laff
Holly started heavin
Snow lay all around the gaff
Mary was a-snee-eeze-in

Monmouth · 10/12/2014 22:12

It came upon a midnight clear.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 10/12/2014 22:14

Completely missed the point, sorry Blush

OwlinaTree · 10/12/2014 22:15

God send a merry gentleman
And let him not be gay
Or married with 3 children
And baby on the way
And let him drive a big fast car
And think that men should pay
Oh, that would be comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh, that would be comfort and joy

Chorister · 10/12/2014 22:23

Adeste Fideles
O Holy Night
Joy to the World
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
The Angels Sing Around the Stall
Silent Night
Away in a Manger
We Three Kings
O Litlle Town of Bethlehem
The Star Carol
Carol of the Bells
Ding Dong Merrily on High

I could keep going, see my nickname!! But I shall stop now!

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 10/12/2014 22:26

My favourite 'random' carol is Brightest and Best of the Sons of the Morning (used to sing it at school - nobody seems to sing it any more).

HumptyWasPushed · 10/12/2014 22:27

Thank you so much.
