Good evening! So...I drunkenly offered to organise a Carol concert at work...and my mind's gone blank! I can think of 'Away in a Manger' and 'Noel'...then brain block! Need some popular ones that everyone knows? TIA

My favourite 'random' carol is Brightest and Best of the Sons of the Morning (used to sing it at school - nobody seems to sing it any more).

Adeste Fideles
O Holy Night
Joy to the World
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
The Angels Sing Around the Stall
Silent Night
Away in a Manger
We Three Kings
O Litlle Town of Bethlehem
The Star Carol
Carol of the Bells
Ding Dong Merrily on High

I could keep going, see my nickname!! But I shall stop now!

God send a merry gentleman
And let him not be gay
Or married with 3 children
And baby on the way
And let him drive a big fast car
And think that men should pay
Oh, that would be comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh, that would be comfort and joy

Coventry Carol
Sussex Carol
Sweet Chiming Bells (I love this one - so simple and pretty!)

Or While Shepherds Watched sung to Cranbrook (On Ilkeley Moor! It works perfectly - see the Kate Rusby While Mortals Sleep Album)

Can I make a suggestion? Why not open with a solo, then send them out with the most rousing, everybody knows it one you can think of- Hark the herald Angels Sing for example.

And for your solo, pick your favourite!

I am assuming you haven't got a huge amount of time. I would ask the soloist what he/she wants to sing.

HumptyWasPushed · 10/12/2014 20:23

Can any of you lovely ladies suggest a good solo to sing at the end?
