To ask you what you know about Forever Living?

So a friend has started selling Forever Living, she seems to be doing well so far which is great for her but it seems too good to be true, can I ask your experiences with the company, if any? She's a good friend so I'm hoping it works for her, so far the only draw back i can see is a lot of advertising to friends (via fb), which long term probably would annoy folk.

Also the products, anyone tried the weight loss stuff? She has lost loads so if its not just water that will all go back on then I jump on the bandwagon with her :D

"That anyone would boast about a 40k salary is hilarious. I graduated uni and walked into a 40k job......20 years ago."

Have you any idea how obnoxious you just made yourself sound? I know you probably think you're fighting the good fight but playing salary top-trumps on the internet hardly covers yourself in glory.

I'd love a 40K salary. That's twice what I earn. (I wouldn't want to earn it by flogging FL products, that said).

FindoGask · 20/06/2015 17:37

"In the sticks". Good grief, this thread is heaving with arseholes.

Yes, I understand too, really. Ignore me, I'm in a bad mood. I just broke a pan I've had for 15 years that I got as a present, due to being an idiot.

Koalafications · 20/06/2015 17:51

Findo my post wasn't an insult to people who earn £40k, I just wanted to point out that if that poster was going to brag about a 40k salary, MN probably isn't the best place.

LotusLight · 20/06/2015 17:55

£40k wouldn't even pay the school fees for 5 I was paying until recently! Plenty of women are ambitious and pick careers well and earn a lot. it is important other women know that so if they choose they direct their teenage daughters into the nicer higher paid careers rather than ensuring their children when grown are grappling on the internet searching for pyramid scheme pin money to ensure the children have enough to eat.

However if someone can make £40k self employed particularly if she has few qualifications and of course as long as she's paying all her tax and NI then well done to her. No one is trying to suggest women should stay at home earning nothing and simply providing childcare, cleaning and sex services to a husband in return for being kept.

OwlsEscapade · 20/06/2015 18:27

Lotus don't you get bored posting the same thing again and again and again and again?

I know you think you are educating us all but it's a bit tiresome and I don't think you realise how boastful you sound.

violalion I could share my salary that my successful, SUSTAINABLE business that I built myself pays me but talking about money is sooo crass- sweetie!!!
But thank you very much for proving my ( and everyone else's) point about what froot loops the FL bots are

Olivaceous Are you new? Hmm

Nothing wrong with the message to encourage girls to aim high but there are ways of doing it. Constantly belittling other people whist bragging isn't one of them.

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 21/06/2015 09:43

I think Lotus said on another thread that her island is no more.

GrimDamnFanjo · 21/06/2015 10:18

I'm not a fan of mlm businesses. I couldn't do it myself. However I recently met someone who is a FL success. She's been doing it for many years but from what I worked out her success was about having built and actively trained a strong downline and having identified a particular market to sell to [not friends, family etc].
she is an obvious exception to the many who are less successful.

Hoppinggreen · 21/06/2015 10:25

I'm sure some people are successful and I have heard that the FL products aren't bad ( if over priced) but the who marketing model is totally immoral and can be quite dangerous for some people who get sucked in
If it's a good business with good products then the selling and and marketing methods should be open. The smoke and mirrors set up makes it look dodgy

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 21/06/2015 11:17

I earn £15K and am very happy in my job. Money isn't everything to me. I rather keep my friends and avoid the crap that is FL.

LotusLight · 21/06/2015 11:55

Indeed. I sold the island last year to pay off some of the divorce debt. Now I am just a boring old non island owner, very run of the mill.

I don't think it's a bad thing to encourage women and in particular teenage girls to aim high. Obama's wife was doing the same thing in London last week. Teenage girls need much more not less encouragement to aim high. Far too many families say that kind of posh or well paid job is no for the likes of us or you aren't bright enough or you're just a girl or that's hard so don't try. I just try to encourage people. Luckily that is allowed in the UK whereas in ISIS or Saudi I'd have to be saying you're a girl so you stay home and serve a husband.

As for selling to friends it can be the fastest way to lose them but I certainly do not discourage women from lawful means of earning extra money. The more different sources of income you have the better as it protects you.

mummyprenuer · 20/07/2015 12:59

i have been enjoying all the posts above about Forever. And I was asking myself am I with the wrong company? Or am i wrong thinking working from home is the best thing for me? I was almost convinced that you ladies were right until i realised that ever since I started my home business with Forever I have never done any of the above and I am making decent money from it. I am a recently married mum-to-be and it has always been my desire to raise my kids without being in a full time job and I would like to say I am glad to have found Forever. I have my customers who look for me and I have people who look for me to join just from my facebook posts, i am not good at nagging but i am good at believing in what i want to achieve.

natwebb79 · 20/07/2015 13:06

It's almost worth having friends on Facebook who do this just so you can enjoy playing the 'bullshit bingo'. Just draw a grid and in in square write a key word/phrase, examples include 'flexible', 'positive thinking', 'work from home', 'my new business', etc. It's pretty easy to get a full house with the bloody awful copy and paste updates they churn out every ten minutes...

FarFromAnyRoad · 20/07/2015 13:12

And yet your other post mummypreneur seems to suggest something else entirely? On that post you already have two children so not really a mum-to-be huh? What is it exactly you're trying to rope people in to try on that post? You seem very vague about it.

loolah83 · 20/07/2015 13:13

Yes, boasting about and posting pictures of 'my bonus cheque' with their name on but never revealing the bonus amount, which is probably because it's about £3.25.
Deluded and embarrassing.

cozietoesie · 20/07/2015 13:25

As far as I can see, like other MLMs, they work by people exploiting their friendship and community circles - so if someone is driving a new Audi, that's been funded by profits made from other people's funds. That model is not financially sustainable in the long term - there aren't enough people - and might destroy people's relationships with others.

If I've picked it up wrongly, though, I'm happy to be persuaded otherwise.

natwebb79 · 20/07/2015 13:26

Ooh, having read 'Mummypreneur's' (snigger!) post, it seems I have out 'achieve'. They're always banging on about what they will 'achieve'.

mr35900 · 20/07/2015 19:06

There's no quick fix to building a sucessful career. These get rich quick schemes are most likely to be scams or they are designed for individuals with certain skill sets. Forever products are lovely and they do what they say on the box; however they are expensive. Some people can make a good salary from selling Forever products ( apparently) I soon realised that that would never be me for many reasons the main ones have been very well demonstrated by a few Forever diehards. I am happy running my own company working in a field that I love, money is not brilliant but not everything is about money, incidentally another unpleasant trait I encountered in Forever is the love of money to add to the unhealthy disassociative disorder the members descend into if challenged. I rather think that the gettogethers are designed to achieve a great deal more than just networking......Scientology comes to mind.
