To ask you what you know about Forever Living?

nocabbageinmyeye · 03/12/2014 19:27

So a friend has started selling Forever Living, she seems to be doing well so far which is great for her but it seems too good to be true, can I ask your experiences with the company, if any? She's a good friend so I'm hoping it works for her, so far the only draw back i can see is a lot of advertising to friends (via fb), which long term probably would annoy folk.

Also the products, anyone tried the weight loss stuff? She has lost loads so if its not just water that will all go back on then I jump on the bandwagon with her :D

I think the email exchange highlights the ridiculous attitude FL people have.

My parents were sucked into it all, and basically if you can't make it work you are a failure, there is no support, they don't want any negative speak and it's all just a joke.

I wouldn't have even tried to talk to him, he's obviously a very deluded person.

OohAahBird · 27/02/2015 20:47

I like the products and think they work, I buy them from a friend who has been selling them for years, but I wouldn't join the company.

I was a pampered chef consultant many moons ago when they first started in the uk and the sales techniques they push you to use always made me very uncomfortable. Forever livings speal always reminds me of them.

backwardpossom · 27/02/2015 20:49

I have a few friends on FB who have been sucked into this. The very fact that all of them trot out word for word the exact same bullshit about amazing teams and about coming together and building really successful businesses...

There's no such thing as detox linky

honeyroar · 27/02/2015 22:11

I know one lady very into this. She seems to be being praised for doing well, she never stops posting on FB to the extent I don't have her on my news feed. All she has had out of it so far is a suitcase that looked like a yellow grit bin!

I use aloe regularly for myself and my animals, but can buy it for a fraction of the FL products. I don't believe the "our plants are purer" crap.

Another friend regularly does the clean 9 thing. I've been doing weight watchers and am losing much more and also enjoying it more!

I'm thoroughly bored with it. I think it's aimed at people who believe hype!

backwardpossom · 27/02/2015 22:37

I think it's aimed at people who have more money than sense.

mr35900 · 28/02/2015 01:24

I have to say that it was my fault. I got suckered into it without really doing my research. The Business Model looks good on paper but in reality it really does depend on the experience of the mentor/sponsor as to whether it is followed; as they should. Posturing aside, I already knew the response I would get as they have a hive type mindset. I found it slightly amusing by the back peddling and irrational responses as the truth of the matter is that a large proportion of these people are not interested if something goes wrong. Plenty more leads out there. As this scheme MLM is open to everyone the standard and experience does vary. Some like my sponsor, saw me as a cash cow. So if anyone is thinking of making this a business I would say, do your research and make sure that your sponsor knows what they are doing and are willing to invest the time to induct you into the business. Also as most distributors tend to start off selling to their friends and family, before they branch out make sure that this is a viable option. The products are expensive and in my opinion should be considered "lifestyle" products ie you and your clients have to have the lifestyle to afford the products, or like some, you will be considerably out of pocket if you can't sell them. The cost of the business ( business in a box) is around £199, but you should be looking at investing around £500 by the time you get your stock, packaging, memberships etc.

Violalion · 19/06/2015 22:45

You don't sound bitter at all Grin

Hoppinggreen · 19/06/2015 23:16

violalian do you realise that by commenting on all these old FL threads you are once again bringing to our attention what a total scam the whole thing is?
You aren't helping the cause

Violalion · 19/06/2015 23:52

@HoppingGreen Please, do explain to me why you think I'd actually care about that? 40,000 a year sweetie, what about you? :')

DoughDoe · 19/06/2015 23:56

Is that supposed to impress people? Go away.

Summerisle1 · 20/06/2015 00:00

Still, at least Violalian is providing positive proof of the inherent weakness if MLM schemes. They don't care who they recruit.

Violalion · 20/06/2015 00:13

Oh, we do care who joins. Evidently it's not for everyone.

No it's not supposed to impress you, because impressing Internet trolls isn't my strong point, 'recruiting vulnerable people' is :')

My work here is done. Grin

Yamahaha · 20/06/2015 00:49

Wow- you admit you recruit vulnerable people to an illegal pyramid scheme?
Shock

Shame on you.

itsbetterthanabox · 20/06/2015 00:56

They'll go out of business soon enough just like all other scams and the 'employees' will left with fuck all

Outwith · 20/06/2015 08:16

Viola, you can earn 40k doing a job that matters though, and without taking advantage of anyone.

HexBramble · 20/06/2015 09:26

Viola, MN is a public domain. If you're a responsible and dynamic manager of a responsible and ethical company, you wouldn't be on here trying to wind people up with your smugness and sneering. You'd be on here standing your ground and string your belief in your work.

All you're doing in alienating a free market here this shooting yourself right in your aloe'd foot. Grin

HexBramble · 20/06/2015 09:28

Aahh typing on iPhone. Am sure you can work out what I'm trying to say Grin

Koalafications · 20/06/2015 10:33

I wouldn't boast on MN about that kind of salary. Have you not seen any of the threads about what MN'ers consider to be a 'high salary'?

Sazzle41 · 20/06/2015 10:41

I temped in payroll at their head office, the paycheques were v small. I wouldnt think its more than a 'pin money' job tbh.

EuphemiaCoxton · 20/06/2015 11:08

Ugh.
I've just lost one friend who became an arbott overnight (arbonne) and harps on about white Mercedes all the time. I'm imminently about to lose another through FL.
I don't mind she does it, or that she invited me to like her aloe Vera Facebook page (I didnt) but now all her Facebook updates are about FL even though she has a dedicated page.
And the reason she looks so amazing isn't aloe vera. It's the fact she's pretty, spends time on her appearance, is in her 20s and goes to the gym for two hours 5 nights a week.

GozerTheGozerian · 20/06/2015 11:37

impressing Internet trolls

Grin at the irony

LotusLight · 20/06/2015 11:45

If women who earn £40k think that is a high salary they need to go and speak to the real mumsnet women who hang out on the £1k a day threads who are doctors, bankers, lawyers etc. This kind of housewife pyramid selling stuff is not a great way to earn not very large sums.

However if a real product is sold then it is likely to be legal. Anyone who thinks claims made are untrue can contact trading standards. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 make it a criminal offence to claim things for products which are untrue. For example we have a liver. It removes things needed from the body. The 2008 regulations have been much used by scientists against fake health claims for products. They are a very useful tool.

However anyone wanting to weigh less should eat less often eg twice or at most 3 times a day, no snacks and big gaps between eating, drink water, walk i.e. all the things that cost not a penny.

kewtogetin · 20/06/2015 16:28

That anyone would boast about a 40k salary is hilarious. I graduated uni and walked into a 40k job......20 years ago.
I have a FB friend who has just won a holiday to Mexico through her FL company, yeah right, I'd rather stay at home than holiday on the proceeds of the housewives she's ripped off.
Her hashtags literally make my day #cantwaittoseeyousoar
#lovemykiddiessomuchmorethanwork
#notjustacceptingninetilfive
Yet strangely she actually also works 9-5.....in a bank.

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 20/06/2015 17:09
  1. even if I wanted more essential oils that I could easily get elsewhere for cheaper the last place I would go to would be a MLM

  2. if I did want to get them from a MLM I would not choose one with a dodgy founder like YL.

Sazzle41 · 20/06/2015 17:14

40K is a low paid experienced PA salary in London, highpaid ones with experience 50K plus bonus. but I appreciate that in the sticks that probably seems a lot.
