crumpet rage

Aibu to think 9 is a stupid number of crumpets to have in a pack? I eat 2 at a time. The normal amount. There's always 1 left. Who the frig wants 1 crumpet?

(Yes some bastard ate the last pair and I've just been confronted by the last measly crumpet in the pack Angry)

I'm hangry.

So disappointed with the Christmas tree shaped crumpets, they just don't taste the same.

We are knocking open our bricked up fireplace just so that we can have toasted crumpets all winter Grin

CaulkheadUpNorth · 03/12/2014 14:00

They don't fit in the toaster at work either. I thought that was just a thing, that crumpets don't fit. That's why you have to buy the square ones which are specially for the toaster.

I like humous and cheese on crumpets if there is no Nutella. Marmite is banned in this house thankfully

Coco0123 · 03/12/2014 14:03

Butterpuff - yes, this is my concern that they won't taste the same. Bought the teddy bear shaped ones for the dc last year and no-one liked them, they tasted odd Confused
Will be testing later!

OP have you thought of making your own?

Home made crumpets

Other recipes are available

I know I could buy two packs of 6 or 9 or some other mathematically even combination. But why should I have to. Warburtons should do it for me. 6 is not enough. 9 is ridiculous. 12-18 is too many.

I'd like 10. 2 per day Monday-Friday.

I may write a strongly worded email.

Nooooo. If you stack them right you can get 3 per slot in the toaster.

Jamrollypolly · 03/12/2014 15:01

I saw Warburtons Christmas tree ones in Asda, don't know how many were in the pack though.

Poolomoomon · 03/12/2014 15:09

I couldn't agree more. If DH is home for breakfast we'd need two packs of nine crumpets so we can have two each! They need to put one extra in, why nine? Doesn't make sense...

Poolomoomon · 03/12/2014 15:11

Because there's five of us of course, if that wasn't clear Wink. I don't understand people who have sweet crumpets! Crumpets should be savoury, always and for me the only acceptable topping is butter! Mmm crumpets...

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 03/12/2014 15:15

I will get around to it Theskiing ... We have to make most things from scratch and the kids always want to "help", today we made pizza, yesterday home made pasta, the day before mince pies, and the kids are nagging to start baking German Christmas biscuits, I tend just to do 1 project a day, and as the kids have never had crumpets they don't ask for them, so they haven't yet happened... Definitely bumping making them way up the priority list for the next week though :o

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 04/12/2014 11:36

What is an egg cooking ring? Crumpet making foiled... will a cookie cutter work, or is it too flimsy?

TheSkiingGardener · 04/12/2014 21:45

It should work, the only problem is the crumpet sticks to the inside of the ring a bit, but it did that for me and I was given proper crumpet rings!

ThereIsACarInTheKitchen · 04/12/2014 22:28

I actually quite like the sound of 9 in a pack. I eat three at a time so with 9 in a pack I'd probably just eat crumpets for a couple of meals.
