...to think this toy is the biggest rip off in plastic history and leave it on the shelf?

"DD, what would you like for Christmas?"

"The big Frozen castle Mummy. It's all I've ever wished for!"

Repeat x 100

So Mummy looks at the big Frozen castle.

Why in the name of all things holy does this big plastic box cost over £100???? It looks like it is worth about £20. On a good day.

Apparently it is the only toy she has ever wanted (lie). But I can't get anything else out of her that she might like. I tried introducing the smaller version - £40 and still an obscene price - but apparently it doesn't have a sofa?!?!?

Has anyone bought this piece of crap? Thoughts?

DD (7.5) had initially asked for this, but I managed to subtly talk her out of it. I was smug about it until she then clapped eyes on the Barbie Dream House at £200.00.

It's been the one thing, aside from some dolls, that she has continually talked about and openly, desperately hoped he would bring her.

I managed to pick it up in the sale for £160.00.

I don't tend to bat an eye at Christmas when it comes to spending - it's the one time of year I go all out and say 'sod it!' But that Frozen castle was not happening. Not at that ridiculous price. At least with her Dream House she's getting a massive amount of plastic for the money. The things huge and fully furnished.

Check out the Costco Kidcraft Once upon a time dolls house the same price and 10 times better

I am really glad I found this thread and have been alerted to the full horror. DS 4 has only just this week discovered Frozen (I don't get the hype either....) and now I can steer away from this. Mind you, he is currently happy pretending that one of his McDonalds happy toys is Elsa, but I can see that changing.....

we built it last night and its proper plastic crap but my daughter loves it. it quite big though. there is no way in hell that its worth the money, ive attached a picture of the crapness

My dd wanted the £50 one that lights up. I think its a rip off so said if they get that they wont get much else so they changed their mind.

I have now bought a cinderella castle for £4 off ebay then the £3.69 frozen figures from china off ebay (pack of 8) and some £1.50 battery operated fairy lights. I then shredded white tissue paper to look like snow and put it in a box wrapped with frozen wrapping paper so it cost me a tenner in all.

differentname - I was struck by your post, so had a look but can't see the one in the OP for anything like the price you mentioned - the smaller one is about that price, but the bigger one, no - best I saw was ~$186 shipping from the USA with ~$40 shipping cost.

After reading, and enjoying this thread, I looked for it in Toys R Us yesterday just to get an idea of what it's like in real life. (Luckily I have no Frozen fans in my household so not one for us.) They sold out ages ago. The assistant laughed at me for asking about it. So obviously they're popular!

On the plus side, this thread has opened my eyes to Playmobile Grin Luckily 5yo DD asked Father Christmas yesterday for Lego Police things! We probably have too much Lego but I don't mind buying it as I think it's good value for money.

A week or so back she asked for an Elsa snow doll (or something, I didn't press her for details) but I doubt we'll find one to buy now. I've not seen the film Blush but DD's watched it at the CMers!

Unfortunately last year was the first year DD was into Father Christmas and when we went to see him she asked him for the Lego Yacht (Dolphin Cruiser) and PIL had bought it for her, so moved it into the FC pile of presents. Now we're working hard to let DD know that she's only making a request, it's not a given!!

I loved my Sindy dolls house when I was little, not sure if it was authentic but we bought off a neighbour's daughter who had outgrown it. Came with loads of stuff and I played with it for years. Hoping to find something similar on eBay for DD's Barbie & Ken.

I've bought my dd this instead and can play with it with her little Disney Magic clip dolls.

Thread has inspired me to sign up for Lego Ideas to support this. Admittedly it's not going to be of use to people looking for Xmas gifts this year, and it will probably cost the thick end of 200 quid, but it will be AWESOME.
