to wonder how all those who voted Lib Dem in 2010 are going to vote in the 2015 GE?

Curious to know if the Lib Dem vote will collapse as predicted or not.

If you don't want to say which party you are going to vote for instead of the Lib Dems, please can you just say "yes" or "no" as to whether you will be voting for the Lib Dems again, "yes" meaning you are going to vote Lib Dems again and "no" meaning you aren't.

In my case, I voted Lib Dems and I will be voting either Labour or Green in 2015.

Voted Libdem last time, in a labour seat with no chance of a conservative win, the lib dems got it.

Will do the same next time.

Pretty happy with the coalition, far better than labour anyway.

Poolomoomon · 29/11/2014 06:49

Always voted lib dem. This will be the first election that I will not be and I don't think I ever will again.

I'm tactically voting for Labour because Im too pussy to vote Green's- Labour is the only way I can logically view the Tories being pushed out and UKIP not having a shot at a coalition .

Doobigetta · 29/11/2014 07:43

I'm in a LD/Labour marginal, will probably vote Labour because another Tory-led government would be disastrous. I had no problem with the LDs goibg into the coalition, but they've been terrible in it.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 29/11/2014 08:42

I'm another in a true blue Tory area with a strong UKIP showing in the European election. I hate the Tories especially on civil liberties issues but I would be devastated if UKIP got in and I'd voted for LD or Labour when they have no chance. Really conflicted about this. Is voting Tory worth it if lesser if two evils?

Icimoi · 29/11/2014 08:45

I voted Lib Dem last time to keep the Conservatives out - fairly marginal seat where the Conservatives were fairly close to the Lib Dems in the polls. The Lib Dem duly got in, but given what happened afterwards I felt quite badly cheated. So it will probably be Labour next time.

throckenholt · 29/11/2014 08:54

Absolutely no point in voting green or labour in my area. Come to that very little point in voting LD either. I hope to God that UKIP isn't really an option here (but other nearby locations they are more than likely to win).

Personally I would vote LD - I think they have done a reasonable job at containing the worst urges of the conservative government, and have unfairly been blamed for practically everything people don't like about the government. And I feel their pragmatic, middle ground approach fits my own approach best (I also have sympathy with the greens and many labour aspirations).

neart · 29/11/2014 10:02

I voted for them in 2010 and will vote for them again in 2015

I don't believe it's ever 'pointless' to vote for any party. It's not like you get to be on the winning side if the party you vote for win. I think that is just very effective spin by the main three to stop people voting elsewhere. If everyone who didn't vote for a small party 'because it won't count' actually did, our political landscape might look different. Every vote counts.

throckenholt · 29/11/2014 13:20

Now more than ever we need to reform our electoral system to reflect the population. Our system no way reflects the voting population and leaves most people feeling that their vote isn't very valid. If 15 % people are natural green supports (or any other reasonable political opinion) then those people deserve representation just as much as that 1/3 who might actually wholeheartedly vote for the party that is elected in a given constituency.

We have many more than the 2 main parties, but effectively they are the ones that dominate the current system.

I don't think I have ever actually voted for the party that got elected, but I always vote because I think the principle is important, but I would be much happier about it if I felt my opinion might also stand a fair chance of being represented.

Sad to think we were close to getting PR a few years ago and now it seems even further away than ever.

Bragadocia · 29/11/2014 13:30

I contemplated joining the Lib Dems 6 years ago; it seems an extraordinary idea now. In General Elections, when I live in a Lab/Con seat I vote Labour. When living in a Lib/Con seat I vote Lib. It's been Labour where I live since 1997, thankfully, so I don't have to make a difficult choice!

With locals, Europe etc, generally Green or Independent these days. Used to be Lib Dem.

MajesticWhine · 29/11/2014 13:36

I'm undecided, but possibly Lib Dem again.

CMP69 · 29/11/2014 14:00

I have voted LD since Phoney Blair turned me off Labour, but I can't do it again. We are in a very safe Labour seat. I will vote Green if we have a candidate but may have to spoil my paper as last time we had Con/Lab/LD or fucking BNP!!!! Angry

Johnogroats · 29/11/2014 14:12

LD again. I am about the only person who is pretty happy with the coalition. The Tories have had to Temper their more extreme right wing ideas. If Cleggover had refused to Join them in government that probably wouldn't have been possible.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 29/11/2014 15:37

I'm a Labour voter but voted LD in the last election as it was the only possibility of getting rid of sitting Tory MP. Round here it is a VERY Tory area.

Tory MP got in again, no surprise there. Then the LDs sold their souls joined forces with the Tories, and DH has gleefully pointed out every time I moan about the government "well, you voted for them". Angry

I'll be voting Labour next year, I know it's a wasted vote but at least I'll have a clear conscience.

PrimalLass · 29/11/2014 15:40

SNP

vienna1981 · 29/11/2014 15:48

I am a habitual Conservative voter in a reasonably safe LibDem seat. However at the last General Election I voted LibDem purely because I wasn't happy with the Conservative stance on hunting with hounds. Our local LibDem MP seems like a good egg. A big campaigner on social issues and supporter of pubs against breweries/pubcos. He's often seen out and about round here.

However it's too close to call my vote just yet.

vienna1981 · 29/11/2014 15:55

Just a thought. Why is the word "Tory" so often used in a pejorative sense ? The letters page of The Daily Mirror is full of Conservative - sorry -Tory-bashing opinion. Whenever I hear the word I think of disaffected socialists and Derek Hatton having a rant.

MrsHathaway · 29/11/2014 16:40

yy to every vote counting.

The big parties look at who didn't vote for them to work out which policies to offer next time, to mop up some extras.

For example, if 15% vote Green I wish then it's worth every party's while stealing adopting green policies.

vrtra · 29/11/2014 17:15

No.

Labour this time. Although they are shit and have fuck all to distinguish them from Tories except bedroom tax and nhs.

Would be green or left unity but no candidate in my area

vrtra · 29/11/2014 17:21

I would vote LD again if I lived in one of their constituencies near me though as those particular MPs are very very good and hold strong principles.

Tobyjugg · 29/11/2014 17:46

vienna In my case it's because I'm too lazy to type "Conservative".

TalkinPeace · 29/11/2014 17:59

I was not a UK citizen at the last general election.

This time my heart would say Green
My head would say spoilt ballot
but actually as its first past the post I'll have to be tactical

Cranfieldmc · 29/11/2014 18:29

Voted lib dem. not happy with their performance in coalition. Probably vote labour but essentially anything that will help keep Tory/ukip vote down.

jay55 · 29/11/2014 18:50

Green. I've moved since the last election though.
