Woke up to lots of videos on my news feed of people actually brawling over tvs. Police men holding on to items while grown adults are trying rip it out of their arms. Men and women actually pulling, pushing and climbing on items with £30 off!

I feel sorry for the shop workers today. What A bunch of animals.

Like rats in a sewer, climbing on top of each other.

I blame the retailers too- they know what they are doing. They know by putting piles of Blaupunkt TVs on the shop floor, there will be pandemonium, which gets their shop in the papers and on the news. It's not like they never anticipated this shit- it happened last year. If they gave a fuck about their staff, or the safety of customers they would just put the lot online on a first come, first served basis. They would still make the same amount of money as they would all be snapped up, albeit from the comfort of their customers homes.

It makes me sick that the police are required to man these things. Waste of resources.

We don't have black Friday here, but we do have the Boxing Day sales. I'm absolutely baffled that after a nice relaxing Christmas day, people feel the need to queue from midnight to save a few dollars on crap they probably don't need in the first place. We stay home and drink wine by the pool. There'll always be another sale, another discount, and many internet companies these days will price match. Although I do admit to buying a new freezer in the Boxing Day sales last year, but that was because the retailer put all their prices online, and you could order, pick which shop you were buying up from and pay on Boxing Day and pick up anytime (or have delivered) during the following two weeks. Very sensible idea, and much better for staff as well.

I shopped in the Black Friday sales and I still have my dignity thank you very much. I did it all online though. I shop in the Boxing Day sale too. Don't think you're above me because you don't. I go to the Next sale sometimes too. Queue early, never seen any of the madness you're describing. I check beforehand what the prices of things should be and only buy things if I'm getting a good deal. I do it because if I don't have to pay full price for items, I won't. Next is a rip off at full price - £16 for a jumper for a 2 year old? No thanks! £8 is fine though.

Black Friday isn't the problem. The supermarkets made their discounts instore only. They knew this would happen, they wanted it to happen, otherwise it would have been exclusively online only. I mean, come on, there's only one reason you put 40 inch TVs out for people to carry and that's so it looks like it's the place to be for bargains. Handing out tickets in orderly queues doesn't have the same effect. People scrabbled for bargains on Amazon too, only it's just clicking and joining an online waitlist. Much more civilised, but the supermarkets actually want these scenes, so they didn't do that. They could have spent their money on improving their websites to deal with the large number of people trying to log on, but they didn't.

According to an article i saw several members of staff were threatened and at least one ended up with a black eye.

And then these stores have the fucking cheek and temerity to send their staff on health and safety courses.

I hope some of the members of staff who have been put through this are consulting solicitors.
