Woke up to lots of videos on my news feed of people actually brawling over tvs. Police men holding on to items while grown adults are trying rip it out of their arms. Men and women actually pulling, pushing and climbing on items with £30 off!

I feel sorry for the shop workers today. What A bunch of animals.

For next year I am going to recruit a squad of retired special forces soldiers and hire them out to create safe corridors so that people can save like £30 here and £50 there.

brainwashed · 28/11/2014 09:52

Horrid isn't it? People fighting over bargains they didn't even know they wanted until they are faced with someone else who might want it.

RedToothBrush · 28/11/2014 09:53

We need just two words here

'Price Match'

skinoncustard · 28/11/2014 09:53

Do half of them even know what they are queuing for??? A lot of tat and 'stuff' that wouldn't sell without the hype!
Shops should be made to pay for the police presence as it's they who are fuelling the mass hysteria. ( although from what I have read and seen on the news the crowds are so out of control they are ignoring all calls for decency)
Does someone have to be trampled to death before common sence prevails? (If even then) Sad

BrunetteSmurfette · 28/11/2014 09:54

OP your're right they are like animals, it actually reminds me of riots abit it's quite scary. Someone mentioned a child being there, God k its who would think that would be a good idea. I think there's been a lot of hype this year and this is exactly what I had expected, although still shocking to see.

I think some people seem to grab and buy stuff without even knowing the price, it's like something's taken over their mind and they must have whatever is there, whether they need it or not. I think I've actually got better deals throughout the year than are being offered today, and I've managed to avoid acting like an animal or being involved in a brawl!!!

southeastastra · 28/11/2014 09:55

fgs at 'be careful out there' Grin

RedToothBrush · 28/11/2014 09:58

The trouble is that riots fuel the hype even more as 'there must be incredible bargains if people are rioting'.

EnlightenedOwl · 28/11/2014 10:02

Awful

serennu · 28/11/2014 10:03

I couldn't believe that people had taken their children along. saw a woman pulling her little boy through the crowds piling through the doors in one of the clips, people falling over etc. poor boy could have really got hurt. all because his stupid irresponsible mum wants a cut price telly.

I went to the next sale once. that was enough for me, I'd rather pay full price than get involved in anything like that again Grin

FreakinScaryCaaw · 28/11/2014 10:13

I don't care how bad money troubles are there's no need to carry on like that.

If it was essentials like basic food stuffs then it's almost understandable. But it isn't. It's people wanting a bigger fucking tv ffs!! And other such shite.

My dss are teenagers and they were disgusted. Glad I've brought them up not to be so entitled.

DS1 (17) doesn't even want anything for Christmas. I said maybe some free weights as he loves the gym so he's getting them.

specialsubject · 28/11/2014 10:15

have all these people taken the day off work to go SHOPPING? Have they taken kids out of school? Are they so stupid that they are panting outside shops at 8am?

what a bunch of sheep. Who actually needs all this crap anyway?

MIL Wants to do her supermarket shop today. Fortunately our local town doesn't have any megastores so hopefully will be an oasis of sanity.

suggestions: don't buy new clothes, you don't need any. Don't buy a new telly, you've got a perfectly good one. And don't buy from online retailers that tax-dodge!

BeyondTheTreelights · 28/11/2014 10:16

I was gonna go food shopping today. Guess that is cancelled. Luckily i have stuff in the freezer!

fuzzpig · 28/11/2014 10:19

DSDs are going into town this afternoon to do their Xmas shopping - I've warned them to be extra careful. I'm about to go in as I need a couple of bits anyway, I'm not going into any electrical type stores or the large asda so hoping it'll be fine...

I admit to buying a couple of bits from online events, but the thought of actually going to the shop today fills me with horror. People seem to have lost all common sense, just awful behaviour

fuzzpig · 28/11/2014 10:22

People do go crazy over stuff - DH used to work for Boots when the first no7 P&P serum was released... He got actual scratches on his hands FFS. Though by the sound of it he got off lightly!

It's utterly horrible. People behaving like animals. Do they have no idea how stupid/pointless it all is?

Showy · 28/11/2014 10:30

I used to work in a supermarket. I fondly remember the day we had a few flakes of snow and the madness started, culminating in two very well to do women having a proper scrap over the last sliced white. DH's second ever call out as a newly independent police officer was to two blokes having a punch up over carrots on Christmas Eve. They were both pensioners.

Tanith · 28/11/2014 10:30

A friend of mine once took her NZ husband to a jumble sale. He came out white and shaking, saying he'd never in his life seen anything so brutal as those people snatching at the bargains and grabbing things out of each other's hands.
This would have been about 20 years ago.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 28/11/2014 10:30

A friend of mine used to work in Next. She had to go in at about 3 am on Boxing Day Shock to get ready for the hordes that were already queuing up for the sale that started at about 5 am and when they opened the door, large groups would run in, surround the displays and grab armfuls of clothes and then sort through them, throwing what they didn’t want all over the floor.

She had to try and tidy up after them, while being pushed and shoved by other people trying to get to the clothes as well. She quit after one Christmas and found a job somewhere else.

ghostyslovesheep · 28/11/2014 10:32

Showy I had bread taken out of my trolley on Christmas Eve Grin by some loony who felt they couldn't manage 1 day without a baguette - I did catch her and suggest she put it back - she was shameless

I'd rather pay full price for stuff or do without in order to retain my dignity.

iwantgin · 28/11/2014 10:40

I'm with hiddenhome

It's absolutely crazy.
