Aibu too not understand the reaction of the Ferguson Michael Brown in the USA

My Dh thinks that it is a disgusting example of racial inequality in America. But i think having read a lot of articles/news that the police officer was only protecting himself. Although it is unfortunate that someone so young died.

However Dh feels strongly it is disgusting racism. He called me blind and crazy (lighthearted). Aibu for thinking this.

nicknacky, yes there are more police forces than the met and none of them is any better than the met, they just get less publicity

UncleT · 27/11/2014 21:43

Actually, a very small minority have been of the 'fuck it they're criminals they deserve it' mentality here. Most people haven't said anything of the sort.

SevenZarkSeven · 27/11/2014 21:45

I thought the issue with the video in the shop was not what it showed so much as that it was released by the authorities (police/mayor?) after the shooting happened in what was seen as an attempt to sully his name and get everyone on the side of the police before investigations had even started and that was when people started getting seriously angry. Because the authorities aren't supposed to start putting "their side of the story" out like that.

That's what I seem to remember reading on the BBc anyway.

Reminds me of what happened with Jean Charles Menezes as well now I come to think of it, although in that case the police were proven to be lying fairly quickly. Same issue. Like a kid immediately immediately pointing the finger. Pathetic.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/11/2014 21:45

why can't you believe that mnhq is biased. can't middle class 'educated' women be biased?

I made no comment on that, not least because it seems unwise to encourage your own manic bias against yet another group - I simply asked for clarification of what you yourself had posted

That said, it's certainly becoming clear why, historically, so many of your posts have been deleted ...

Pangurban · 27/11/2014 21:52

Some people on here did say the video was doctored (by the police?).

Tinkerball · 27/11/2014 21:55

Creighton I've got to hand it to you for sheer affront, I've never seen someone so blatantly caught out as you have and still continue to ignore it.

creighton · 27/11/2014 21:56

puzzledandpissedoff am I not allowed to make a general observation? is it the case that some people are de facto not biased? are we not allowed to scrutinise some groups of people?

creighton · 27/11/2014 21:57

caught out how?

Tinkerball · 27/11/2014 22:01

You said MNHQ messaged you telling you not to upset "WHITE posters"....which they didn't.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/11/2014 22:14

Sevenzark yes I also remember the criticism of the CCTV being released at the time

Coming up to date, though, someone posted on page 2 that Shop CCTV showing Michael Brown paying for the item has now been released. Previously, the Ferguson PD only released the section of him leaving the shop, and implied he was shoplifting

BUT a PP tells us that before the grand jury Dorian Johnson testified that he didn't see Michael Brown pay for anything and that he robbed the cigarillos. He testified that MB then grabbed and shoved the shopkeeper when he tried to get his stuff back

Obviously both accounts can't be right, which is why I asked for more information

creighton · 27/11/2014 22:14

well who do you think they meant the black posters who pm me to tell me they agree that the other posters are racist?

even with this thread I have been sent messages from people who are horrified at the carry on by people like you who seem to think that black people being killed by out of control police officers is of no consequence.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/11/2014 22:18

"people like you who seem to think that black people being killed by out of control police officers is of no consequence"

I haven't seen anyone say that.

creighton · 27/11/2014 22:22

so tell me what the killer police defenders are saying

Nicknacky · 27/11/2014 22:25

"Killer police defenders". Are you for real?

I think what a lot of us are saying is a grand jury will be in a far better place to judge the facts than us. You clearly don't want to believe anything apart form white officers are racist and go out each day hoping to shoot a black person.

Darkandstormynight · 27/11/2014 22:25

I believe the grand jury. I am in the States. The witnesses were ridiculous, changing stories after hearing autopsy, hands up (not true), shot in back (not true), and the best yet, the ones that said they were there but weren't at all.
And I keep hearing the Tamir story getting mixed up with this post. This has nothing to do with the Tamir article.

greenbananas · 27/11/2014 22:26

It said on bbc news that this young man was shot 12 times.. Surely just a couple of shots would have been enough to disable him if the police officer really did fear for his life?

I have not been following this case and I don't know what the rights and wrongs of it are. .. but I do live in an area of the uk where a huge percentage of young people distrust the police , and where black and other ethnic minorities are stopped and searched a quite disproportionate number of times. I attend local residents meetings, and I like our local police officers, and I sympathise with what they are trying to do. .. but I also know that young people don't understand what they are trying to do and (rightly? ) feel victimised.

Nicknacky · 27/11/2014 22:28

He wasn't shot 12 times. 12 shots were discharged but apparently 7 struck him.

creighton · 27/11/2014 22:32

are you for real nicknacky? you know that people are defending the police officers who killed MB and the 12 year old boy, they are defenders of killer police how is that phrase difficult to understand?

creighton · 27/11/2014 22:33

he was only hit 7 times, that's okay then

Nicknacky · 27/11/2014 22:34

Im very real, thank you. I'm one of those that have been in defence of the officers.

I don't think you would accept any result apart from guilty.

Tinkerball · 27/11/2014 22:37

Creighton even with this thread I have been sent messages from people who are horrified at the carry on by people like you who seem to think that black people being killed by out of control police officers is of no consequence

Right Ive had enough, I'm now reporting you....I've only ever addressed YOUR remarks and lies on this thread - show me where I have said this? Go on - show me EXACTLY where on this thread I have said black people being killed by out of control police officers is of no consequence Angry

You obviously only see what fits in with whatever is going on in your mind just now.

creighton · 27/11/2014 22:38

because they are guilty.

you are an example of what is wrong with the police. you defend 'fellow officers' even when they are in the wrong and object to any questions being asked of them or you.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/11/2014 22:39

I think what a lot of us are saying is a grand jury will be in a far better place to judge the facts than us

Spot on, Nicknacky - though no doubt Creighton will now tell us they, too, are all racist because she didn't like their conclusion. It seems sad that she assumes all those who dare to disagree with or report her must automatically be white, ignoring that some black people may well be equally dismayed at her attitude

As many have said, we weren't in Ferguson and don't have all the evidence. Even the jury system isn't perfect but it's the best we've got for now - and it's certainly a heck of an improvement on rioting and further criminality

Tinkerball · 27/11/2014 22:40

And not forgetting the original point that you lied about what MNHQ supposedly said to you.

creighton · 27/11/2014 22:41

report me to whomever you like and then go away you hysteric
