AIBU re Skinny Dipping

I have a house with a pool. The pool area has 16ft trees around the whole area, and no one can see in to the pool area, so it is very private. No neighbours overlook our yard, I have just been told that IBU to swim naked in my own pool. The only time I do so is when it is in the evening (after dark), and the pool is surrounded by 16ft bushes, and I don't turn on the lights, so there is no possible way anyone could see anyone swimming in the pool. During daylight hours I wear a swimsuit of course, and if there is anyone else with me. But in the evenings, when DS is in bed, I like to go for a swim, and I often go without my swimsuit. I've just been absolutely berated because I said that I often swim naked at night. So I hand this over to the MN jury to settle this debate. Can I swim in the buff in my own pool?

Of course you can, it's your blimmin pool, and it sounds very private! Your colleagues are full of nonsense.

Zipitydooda · 19/11/2014 21:51

If I had my own pool, I'd swim naked whenever I wanted day or night.

Sallyingforth · 19/11/2014 22:59

If you've never swum naked, you are really missing something. The difference is amazing - it's just so ... natural!

Darkandstormynight · 19/11/2014 23:01

YANBU at all! People are weird and prudish though, so I would be careful of who I told this to in the future. I'M Prudish and even this would never bother me!!

LaurieFairyCake · 19/11/2014 23:02

I would swim naked during the day if there were no bushes

It's my pool, I can do what the fuck I like

DirtyOldTown · 19/11/2014 23:10

Mmm, it was 'my pool, my rules', wasn't it? (Bizarre memory for trivia....)

SurfsUp1 · 19/11/2014 23:53

If I had a pool that was that private I don't think I'd wear swimmers unless we had guests!

SurfsUp1 · 19/11/2014 23:54

I think you're a bit nuts to go swimming alone because nobody will see if you get into trouble.

In a pool? WTF is going to happen!?

tywysogesgymraeg · 19/11/2014 23:59

I'm more concerned about you allowing the digs to go in the pool than about you swimming naked. Dogs in the pool? Uch!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/11/2014 00:13

I have a hot tub and I regularly go in it alone, naked. It's lovely

QuinionsRainbow · 20/11/2014 14:20

But at 11:45pm I think I'll get away with it and will presume that none of the neighbours who can't even see in to the pool area will care about my brief naked swim.

Am I missing something here? I would have thought that at 11.45 pm., when I suspect it's dark at any inhabited point on the globe, especially anywhere where the temperature might still be 28C, the biggest problem for your neighbours who "can't even see into the pool area" would be the noise, if any, of your swimming and the lights, if any, in your pool area, disturbing their sleep. I can't see how they might even be aware of your state of dress or undress, unless you have been boasting about it to them. As others have said, YANBU, and I'm jealous (except about the 16 foot trees)!
