AIBU re Skinny Dipping

I have a house with a pool. The pool area has 16ft trees around the whole area, and no one can see in to the pool area, so it is very private. No neighbours overlook our yard, I have just been told that IBU to swim naked in my own pool. The only time I do so is when it is in the evening (after dark), and the pool is surrounded by 16ft bushes, and I don't turn on the lights, so there is no possible way anyone could see anyone swimming in the pool. During daylight hours I wear a swimsuit of course, and if there is anyone else with me. But in the evenings, when DS is in bed, I like to go for a swim, and I often go without my swimsuit. I've just been absolutely berated because I said that I often swim naked at night. So I hand this over to the MN jury to settle this debate. Can I swim in the buff in my own pool?

Deja vu? Wasn't there an almost identical thread to this not that long ago?

Yes ^^

OP you know you're not being unreasonable.

Well it's good to know I haven't lost the plot Grin

I don't see how it can be "dirtier" to swim naked than it is to swim in a costume.

YANBU though. This is your pool, you aren't treating the general public to your nakedness and quite honestly, what you do in your own pool is up to you. Sounds like you work with several people that the Victorian era is out looking for.

TalkinPeace · 19/11/2014 13:26

TiP is V V jealous.
YANBU
your colleagues are just jealous

Snatchoo · 19/11/2014 13:28

I think so long as you bleach your bum hole first it's fine.

I jest, natch. Of course YANBU! I don't have a pool but sometimes I am naked in my own house.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 19/11/2014 13:30

OMG YADNBU. Your colleagues are PRUDES and missing out on one of the joys of life.

I love skinny dipping. Been doing it all my life, all over the world. When I was growing up in Canada and we would go camping and canoeing on the lakes and as soon as there was a secluded spot, strip down and in the water! (My parents were practically hippies Grin ).

DH and I had our honeymoon in Queensland and there was this gorgeous river. He refused to come in with me and regrets it to this day!

Woozlebear · 19/11/2014 13:32

Some people are quite mind bogglingly childish and prudish. Of course yanbu.

mothermirth · 19/11/2014 13:33

Naked swimming is one of my favourite things. YADNBU Smile

I'm glad someone could answer you cos I haven't a clue Wink

OP I think CheerfulYank put it perfectly. YANBU

MidniteScribbler · 19/11/2014 13:44

So, I just got out of the pool (it's still 28 degrees here). I was gasp naked. But at 11:45pm I think I'll get away with it and will presume that none of the neighbours who can't even see in to the pool area will care about my brief naked swim.

I think this thread is a windup Hmm
It doesn't ring true.

fourwoodenchairs · 19/11/2014 14:03

Bleach your bum hole Grin

MarjorieMelon · 19/11/2014 14:03

You said that your colleagues think you are showing off. From that statement I take it that you are slim and toned and your colleagues are either jealous of your body or you have previous form for showing off.

HighwayDragon · 19/11/2014 14:04

Naked, in a pool, in the dark, surrounded by 16foit trees? Have you never seen horror films?! You're setting yourself up for a dismembering

MidniteScribbler · 19/11/2014 14:09

MarjorieMelon, I'm most definitely not slim or toned. There is no one who would want to see me naked in a pool, or any other time, which is most likely why I am single.

Keep on being naked in your pool. Your pool, your rule. And encourage others. Nature's intention. Feels right. And so on.

More or less my sentiments from the other thread.

Sallyingforth · 19/11/2014 15:47

Of course you can swim naked - it's by far the best way.
But you haven't said where you are. 31C suggests it's not the UK, and there may be unreasonable local restrictions on how women should be covered.

skylark2 · 19/11/2014 16:12

If it's that private, why does it make any difference whether it's dark or not?

I think you're a bit nuts to go swimming alone because nobody will see if you get into trouble.

furcoatbigknickers · 19/11/2014 16:15

That sounds really lovelyEnvy itmust be very liberating

ginnycreeper5 · 19/11/2014 16:18

OP, Everybody knows that it's not a good idea to be in a swimming pool, on your own, in the dark, in the dead of night -
That's when something horrible (monster/deadbody/takeyourpic) is liable to come out of the grill and grabs your legs! Shock

Enjoy your swim Grin

NorwaySpruce · 19/11/2014 16:19

Grin I thought that too skylark.

The whole way through, I was thinking 'but what if you drown !?

THen I thought, well maybe the dogs could rescue her... Confused Grin

Purplepixiedust · 19/11/2014 16:20

Yanbu. The miserable guts :)

Purplepixiedust · 19/11/2014 16:20

Gits even!

Oldraver · 19/11/2014 16:23

The only thing you did 'wrong' was faffing about with a swimsuit in your own secluded garden
