to be vaguely flattered by this...?

So, having a coil fitted in a few weeks. Went to the surgery today to have the swabs taken.

There I am, in the glamourous smear test position, when the nurse pipes up 'ah yes, a nice central cervix'.

What?! So this is a good thing? Must remember to update my LinkedIn profile...
I was, naturally, flattered by this. I almost thanked her and blushed.

Anyone else got a gynaecological humble brag...?

I've never been complimented on my cervix, I feel left out.

UnMasterChef · 17/11/2014 22:04

Not gynae related, but I was going through my discharge notes after a recent hospital stay and they said I had an unremarkable pancreas, I felt quite offended on my pancreas' behalf Grin

Corygal · 17/11/2014 22:08

Honeymoon fresh - that's me, ladies. I have a teeny fanny that's very tight.

The nurse at the clap club where I go to have smears always asks 'have you ever had a relationship' in doubtful terms then spends hours digging for a child's speculum as it's the only way she can have a look.

6 relationships with presumably euphoric men, as it happens. But sex hurts me a bit, so it's not much to be jealous about.

Thehedgehogsong · 17/11/2014 22:13

I, too was complimented on the ginormous nature of my placenta!
Bragged about it several times to my husband since Grin

Jolleigh · 17/11/2014 22:20

I was cursing my cervix at my smear a few weeks ago. Apparently it's hidden away and very far back Angry. She kept telling me to cough to bring it down a bit. Took bloody ages. Then it had the cheek to bleed at her!

EdithDickie · 17/11/2014 23:07

At my last smear the nurse said I had a "lovely looking vagina". I thanked her. Then on the way out of the building another nurse who I passed in the corridor complimented my dress. Lovely vagina, lovely dress, I felt on top of the world that day! Grin

HypodoomicNoooodle · 17/11/2014 23:07

I also have to have the teenagers speculum Corygal, thanks to an over zealous dr after DC1 was born. I needed stitching back together inside and out and I think the dr had visions of restoring my virginity Grin

I've had a sonographer tell me I had the most polycystic ovaries she had ever seen. She was disappointed she wasn't in a teaching hospital or apparently my ovaries would have been used as an example, I'm weirdly proud of that!

PuzzleRocks · 17/11/2014 23:10

It has been said that I have "beautiful blood vessels". [preens]

CrispyFern · 17/11/2014 23:13

I've got a "shy" cervix too. Maybe we had the same nurse bodh?

mrssmith79 · 17/11/2014 23:13

At my last smear the practice nurse called two students in from another room to have a look at my cervix as it was, in her words 'textbook'. I've never been prouder Blush.

avocadotoast · 17/11/2014 23:13

I have two instances!

One time when I went for a check over at the clinic, the nurse said "ooh well, your cervix looks nice and healthy".

And then another time I had to go for an ultrasound for a weird pain I had, and the guy doing the scan said "well, unrelated but your ovaries and uterus are REALLY nice and clear".

Bit weird really...

avocadotoast · 17/11/2014 23:15

Oh and I did get told I had "lovely strong veins" when I went to give blood once...

frankie001 · 17/11/2014 23:18

I got asked if I did a lot of yoga as I had really strong vaginal muscles apparently. Floated out the room I did.

TheSpottedZebra · 17/11/2014 23:20

Do the HCPs get your consent for calling people over to look? Honestly, I'd be horrified.

No gynae compliments for me either. I too also been raped (the 3rd on this thread to say so which is awful), and I suspect that my body language and general isshoo-based cowering and wailing makes it clear that they'd not be welcomed.

But when I have blood taken, I always get told I have lovely cooperative blood vessels.

WaitingForMe · 17/11/2014 23:20

Ooh if we're going off topic then I once had a digital fibroma on my toe. When I met the surgeon who removed it he said it was a great one and could he have it photographed. It was apparent textbook worthy. I said yes purely because I wanted to see what the medical photography department looked like.

I had to sign consent for the photo to be used.

Thanks to this thread I'm feeling quite proud of my body Grin

Moominmarvellous · 17/11/2014 23:21

My Dr asked if I was an athlete after taking my blood pressure - I have absolutely no idea how it relates - and no I'm not, but for some reason I was quite proud, and so was my Mum when I told her! #lowachiever

Thisvehicleisreversing · 17/11/2014 23:22

I was told I had an amazing placenta after DS2's birth. I had a student in the room and the midwife was telling her how lucky she was to be able to learn from such a healthy, large placenta.

AnitaManeater · 17/11/2014 23:24

I was told I have very thin veins. Shame they are encased in a size 20 body isn't it?!

maddening · 17/11/2014 23:27

YOu should have asked for a mirror so you could admire it's glory - get a pic and change your fb profile - it is such a shame to keep such a glory hidden from humanity tbh. :)

MerryInthechelseahotel · 17/11/2014 23:27

Idontseeany I used to know an old nun who was probably born around 1900. She said her doctor had said to her, when he heard she was becoming a nun, "You daft buggar! You've got right good child bearing hips!" He wouldn't have objected if she was lanky!

maddening · 17/11/2014 23:30

I have a horseshoe kidney

sillymillyb · 17/11/2014 23:33

Your all a bunch of show offs with your fancy lady bits! I have an incompetent cervix, which makes it sound like it should be sacked or something Grin

ByeByeButterfly · 17/11/2014 23:38

A month ago when I got my first smear I was told what a strong cervix I had. I'm only 24 though BUT I have had a baby - I was a little bit chuffed!

Lauren83 · 17/11/2014 23:40

My bits are battered too 'accutely retroverted and deviated to the left'

Had 3 ivfs and they knock me out everytime not due to the pain just as they can't get in without being really forceful and you can see them sweating trying countless diff bits of equipment, they said its one of hardest ones they have ever seen. Damn endo!!

Bringmewineandcake · 17/11/2014 23:42

My last smear test - "ooh you wouldn't know you'd had a child!"
