My Waitrose delivery is 2.5 hours late. The did call to tell me a couple of hours before it was due, but also said that it might be on time as they were planning on coming straight to me. This meant that I couldn't go out before it was due, our lunch was in the order, not the end of the world, but running low. The most annoying thing is that I now have a cranky toddler as I don't want to try and put her down for a nap because they could rock up at any time.

Basically, my Sunday has been a bit screwed, and following the initial call, I've had to chase them to find out what's happening.

Should I ask for a voucher, do you think, or AIBU?!

I'd ask for my delivery fee back and a code for a fiver, yes.

I've just had a shit experience with Tesco and would expect that to be the norm. Why should bloody Waitrose be any different?

MargotLovedTom · 16/11/2014 18:11

Some catty buggers on this thread. Totally agree with coolaschmoola way up there.
And raltheraffe - you bought a 3 year old a four grand TV...yeah right.

Nydj · 16/11/2014 18:12

This thread got off to a really crazy start with the responses from other posters but I totally agree with you OP - the whole point of online shopping is to save time and make your life easier and on this occasion, the company failed to do this because they did not deover on time and were rubbish and letting you know about the actual delivery time. I would expect to get compensation for that.

MargotLovedTom · 16/11/2014 18:12

Hmmm - I realise I sound rather catty myself in that last sentence Wink.

Elfina · 16/11/2014 18:19

Thanks all! I think I set up my question wrong by talking about "compensation". I did feel a bit Sad about people jumping in on the sleeping issue though. Felt it was a bit mean. But, I guess you never know with AIBU Wink

Until recently Waitrose always gave a bottle of naice wine to apologise for any delay. They seem to have stopped this and now seen to be late most deliveries.

However 5 1/2 hrs late. I'd want something free. Ring up and complain op. Waitrose/John Lewis have an amazing customer service. They'll give you a discount code for sure.

LineRunner · 16/11/2014 18:24

The toddler sleeping is irrelevant. You could easily have said, I want to have a bath but feel I can't, or I work shifts and need to sleep, or I have to sort some medical treatment out but can't.

You pay for a slot. It didn't happen.

People were mean to you and I don't really get it.

Waitrose delivery minimum spend is £60, included in that is delivery. You cannot spend less than that amount and have your shopping delivered from them.

TurtledoveTamer · 16/11/2014 18:35

A 4k tv refers to the picture quality, not the price.

windchime · 16/11/2014 18:58

Stealth boast translates to OP is rich enough to shop at Waitrose AND have it delivered .

Elfina · 16/11/2014 19:01

Yes, I'm really pleased that I get my shopping delivered and others don't Hmm

Blimey that's bad. I wonder if there was some sort of incident?

Apologies if the advice is unwanted about nap time, but have you tried just leaving DD to settle herself? Depends how old she is but once mine was about 10-12 months old, i used to leave her in the cot and leave. Most she ever cried was 10 minutes and she never got hysterical. Obviously all children are different and this might not suit you.

Never worked at night, strangely.

NoelleHawthorne · 16/11/2014 19:19

you need to sort the toddlers sleep thing out.

that is mental

GritStrength · 16/11/2014 19:21

Have you spoken to them? If not call them and I'm sure they will help. 5.5 hours is ridiculous

freezation · 16/11/2014 19:21

OP I'm really confused. When I order from waitrose you have to spend £60 and delivery is free. There is no option to spend less and pay for delivery. This may be particular to my store but I've just googled it and waitrose states that this is their policy nationwide. So I don't understand how you paid for delivery if they don't charge?

BorisBaby · 16/11/2014 19:28

Wow talk about beating Elf DD1 was the easiest baby every she slept through from week 2! DD2 hated sleep would only sleep on me till she was about a year old and woke numerous times in the night she's 4 now and still wakes up 4 nights a week at stupid hour. Not all children are the same.

I would be asking for a £10 voucher seems the norm when any things ever gone wrong with my food orders its always been offered my last food delivery was 30 minites early. Elf you are NOT been unreasonable

Elfina · 16/11/2014 19:34

"I need to sort the toddler sleep thing out"

Really. REALLY? Thank you for your insight. Gosh, if only I'd heard that sooner, it might have saved YEARS of exhaustion!

IME sometimes changes in routine and stuff just happens though - you say ' RIGHT, that is it! I am not doing this shit any more'

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 16/11/2014 19:36

The op could mean ocado?

Elfina · 16/11/2014 19:36

Sorry, that was really snappy of me. It's my own fault for mentioning DD's nap. To say I regret that is an understatement Sad

OP posts:
NoelleHawthorne · 16/11/2014 19:36

if she takes so long to go to sleep is she really tired?
Let her stay up.

WhereIsMyHat · 16/11/2014 19:39
