to ask you to be cynical - I think D's has won an Xbox one

This all looks legitimate, packet of skittles, on the outside it says you could win and on the inside is a code to enter.
DS goes to the website on the packet, enters the code and they say he has won the Xbox one. He calls me in to his room to show me. Yes it does say he has won and needs to enter details.
There are some terms & conditions, these look like standard, no employees or families to enter, no cash equivalent, etc.
So I enter my details and press next. I get an email downstairs to say the Xbox one will be sent within 28 days.

I have not been asked for any bank details. Their grammer and spelling are good.
Writing this out, makes it seem real. I cannot see any obvious scam so does the jury think this is genuine and he is actually going to get this prize.

I think that sounds genuine

Well done to your DS

Sorry - I can't sound cynical - it sounds like he's won to me

OwlWearingSunglasses · 15/11/2014 13:16

www.skittlesup.com/terms-and-conditions/

Looks OK to me! Well done to your DS.

WishUponAStar88 · 15/11/2014 13:16

If it's from the website on the skittles pack then I'd say it's all legit - congratulations!

LidlMermaid · 15/11/2014 13:17

Sounds perfectly legit. I won a holiday one in a similar type of promotion and it was all above board.

Congratulations! I bet your DS is over the moon.

saintsandpoets · 15/11/2014 13:17

Its genuine - why would Skittles bullshit you?

DillydollyRIP · 15/11/2014 13:17

If it's from the packet of skittles not a random link on a website it sounds pretty genuine and if I was your ds I'd be pretty getting excited!

DillydollyRIP · 15/11/2014 13:17

Getting pretty excited even^. See I'm so excited for your ds I can't type properly :)

LittleMisslikestobebythesea · 15/11/2014 13:20

I'd say its genuine, my sister won a lot of money on a pack of hula hoops, I was very jealous, still am nearly 20 years later Grin

theITgirl · 15/11/2014 13:22

Because we never win competitions, that's why I don't believe it. Did ask him to buy me a lottery ticket, unfortunately he is too young for that.

My initial reaction was it can't be true. So I did not let D's get too excited. Now I need to convince him he can!

I get asked so many times if this email was genuine - they never are. That I cannot believe the true one.

Sounds genuine. Bet you son is made up what a stroke of luck. Smile

Fairylea · 15/11/2014 13:22

Wow how exciting!!! I'd say it's genuine! Lucky ds!

threepiecesuite · 15/11/2014 13:26

That's ace, well done your DS!

I won an iPad in a feedback survey off the back of a BHS receipt last week. Everyone was cynical and thought it was too good to be true but it came by recorded delivery the very next day.

theITgirl · 15/11/2014 13:27

So now he needs to figure out what games he wants for christmas. He is a good age for it 13, but there is no way we would ever have been able to afford that as a Christmas present.

Arlagirl · 15/11/2014 13:27

We won xbox recently through dh entering details after buying a tv.
Sold it on EBay .

Annunziata · 15/11/2014 13:28

Maybe wait until it comes first? Just to be on the safe side.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 15/11/2014 13:38

Get him to win me a PS4 would ya Grin

drbonnieblossman · 15/11/2014 13:43

Congratulations to your son!

goes to bulk buy packets of skittles

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 15/11/2014 13:47

I second waiting until it actually comes.

Or at least keep receipts.

Arlagirl · 15/11/2014 13:56

Oh it was PS4 we won ...... Ds gutted we didn't keep itSmile

Scram · 15/11/2014 13:56

@threepiecesuite
the prize may be genuine, but by completing the survey there was probably some small print which says that BHS and any companies who they sell your details to will spam you for the rest of your life!

Fabulassie · 15/11/2014 13:57

This is such a happy thread! I can understand why you would be suspicious but since it's inside an actual packet of Skittles then it's legit! Your son must be so excited!

theITgirl · 15/11/2014 14:01

Will put caveats in so no-one buys anything till it has arrived. Still will allow ourselves to get excited.

theITgirl · 15/11/2014 14:03

Scram - everyone appears to have my email already. I have enough Viagra offers to open a pharmacy, I have hundreds of dead relations in Nigeria as well.

magpiegin · 15/11/2014 14:03

Well done. Definitely sounds legit :-)

JeanetteDanielsBenziger · 15/11/2014 14:04

That's lovely :-)
