to ask you to be cynical - I think D's has won an Xbox one

This all looks legitimate, packet of skittles, on the outside it says you could win and on the inside is a code to enter.
DS goes to the website on the packet, enters the code and they say he has won the Xbox one. He calls me in to his room to show me. Yes it does say he has won and needs to enter details.
There are some terms & conditions, these look like standard, no employees or families to enter, no cash equivalent, etc.
So I enter my details and press next. I get an email downstairs to say the Xbox one will be sent within 28 days.

I have not been asked for any bank details. Their grammer and spelling are good.
Writing this out, makes it seem real. I cannot see any obvious scam so does the jury think this is genuine and he is actually going to get this prize.

I will stuff all the time, sounds genuine to me Smile well done

VitoCorleone · 15/11/2014 14:07

Will = win

MimsyBorogroves · 15/11/2014 14:08

Definitely sounds legit Smile

I won a gameboy from Quavers in the late 80s once. Brilliant feeling.

BertieBotts · 15/11/2014 14:09

Brilliant, what a great offer! They'll have a lifelong customer in him now Grin

suspiciousandsad · 15/11/2014 14:09

I won an xbox with Doritos once.

Well done!

BertieBotts · 15/11/2014 14:09

I won a magic trick set once from Smarties.

BertieBotts · 15/11/2014 14:10

And an iPod ages ago for doing a survey, which I sold on ebay, got £80 for it.

cuddybridge · 15/11/2014 15:33

well done
My DD won a trip to Euro disney when she was 18 months old, and I didn't take in the letter they sent and thought Disney was offering my baby a timeshare, I was gobsmacked when the very patient lady explained it was an all expenses paid trip

Harrietsferrets · 15/11/2014 16:48

Apparently we have won an Avatar hat.

Acatcalledblue · 15/11/2014 17:31

WOWEE! How good is that! And just right for Christmas, too.he must be absolutely made up about it.Smile

Years ago I bought a jar of Nescaff & there was a 'win' sticker under a peel-off thingy on the lid. Got a bright red radio clock alarm, still going strong.

ConcreteElephant · 15/11/2014 18:22

I won a Delia Smith 'Cooking with Cream' book once, on our very small, local radio station. I was about 8 years old.

See, all you folks there with your games consoles and your holidays - I think we know who the real winner is here ;)

ConcreteElephant · 15/11/2014 18:23

Although I have just noticed the Avatar hat. That's pretty cool.

daisychain01 · 15/11/2014 18:30

Well done to your DS for winning! You are right to be a little cynical until it arrives, then be happy, drink wine, enjoy Smile

I once won 100 worth of clothes from a leaflet being handed out in Top Shop (loads of years ago when 100 could buy 3 massive bags worth of clothes).

I remember being handed the leaflet, then you had to go into the shop and ask them if it was a winning number. They told me I had won top prize. I will never forget the feeling of walking around as a poor student, picking up skirts, tops, jumpers etc and taking them up and getting them put into bags. Like the Lottery Smile.

I've never won anything since - it was a special moment, and I don't mind not winning anything again.

daisychain01 · 15/11/2014 18:31

oops sorry they are Pound signs.

Shockers · 15/11/2014 22:38

Are Skittles made by Mars? If so DH once won a comp with them. It was brilliant, he was in a rugby/cricket/football/tennis tournament with Darren Gough, Pat Cash, Austin Healy and John Barnes. Small teams and loads of fun!

Gem124 · 10/12/2014 17:02

Let us know if it turns up!! Fingers crossed :-)

theITgirl · 10/12/2014 17:07

Yes it did. Situation got a bit complicated as he actually only won half an Xbox one. Skittles were bought jointly, DS did try to say he chose them but the cost of all the sweets was split between the two boys. So we are trying to sell it and split the cash between them.

Anyone want to buy an Xbox one with kinect?

Rainicorn · 10/12/2014 17:08

Did it turn up?

Rainicorn · 10/12/2014 17:09

X posted. How sad that he doesn't get to keep it.

zombiesheep · 10/12/2014 17:11

What? You're selling it? Why can't they keep it and share it?

JCDenton · 10/12/2014 17:17

Is the other boy a friend or DB?

theITgirl · 10/12/2014 17:19

Other boy already has an Xbox one - that was joint birthday, Christmas and his own contribution. DS has an Xbox 360 and doesn’t want to buy out his friend. We would have paid half and DS paid half - DS has the cash but decided to keep the 360 mainly because the games are cheaper.

Waitingonasunnyday · 10/12/2014 17:24

My friend won something in a yoghurt once, the pot was full of foam though so she got the prize but no yoghurt.

theITgirl · 10/12/2014 17:28

Other boy is a friend and lives in a different town. It is ds's choice to sell.

katrina81 · 10/12/2014 17:48

Well done, we entered a code earlier on the skittles site, however we only won a three day live pass. We don't have an xbox.
