Dropped mooncup in office loo

drivingmisspotty · 11/11/2014 17:22

Help me mumsnet jury.

I dropped my mooncup in the loo at work this morning. Did fish it out, cleaned and wrapped it up in my bag.

WIBU to sterilise it in miltons this evening and carry on using it or should I buy a new one?

(Trying to tell myself it would be silly to throw it away but on the other hand it has been down a semi-public toilet. Boak!)

Contact the manufacturer and ask them?

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 11/11/2014 17:24

I'd sterilise and use again.

SomethingFunny · 11/11/2014 17:28

I'd sterilise and use again. Assuming that the toilet had been flushed prior to you using it..

Ephedra · 11/11/2014 17:28

I'd would sterilise and use it again.

I may have dropped my mooncup in the loo this morning too.

GinAndSonic · 11/11/2014 17:29

Well if you sterilise it it will be sterile so yanbu.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/11/2014 17:31

Of course sterilise and use it again. Though maybe sterilise it twice, once in Miltons and once in boiling water, just to be on the safe side Wink

ArgyMargy · 11/11/2014 17:31

Is this just showing off about the fact that you have a moon cup? I thought moon cup types were the kind who are down to earth, not afraid of toilets.

TinyMonkey · 11/11/2014 17:41

Sterilise it and use it again of course.

Argy 'showing off' about having mooncup? Wtf are you on about?

LadyLuck10 · 11/11/2014 17:48

Yuck throw it away.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 11/11/2014 17:49

I'd sterilise it. I really need to try one.

drivingmisspotty · 11/11/2014 17:50

ArgyMargy a mooncup stealth boast? Grin I've not been using the mooncup that long, started because I don't like the waste of disposable sanitary stuff and also spurred on by all the added perfumes in sanitary towels now. Do have hypochondriac tendencies but then worry about tss when using tampons anyway so won't be going back.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Ephedra glad I'm not the only one.

alsmutko I think they do have a helpline actually. Perhaps will ring in morning.

Agrestic · 11/11/2014 17:50

I'd just give it a rinse.

RumbleMum · 11/11/2014 17:50

Def sterilise. I've done this before, though I briefly boaked too.

divingoffthebalcony · 11/11/2014 17:51

Why on earth would you need to buy a new one? You sterilise it when you've finished using it each month, don't you? So just sterilise it again and it'll be fine.

milkpudding · 11/11/2014 17:52

Sterilise it, if it is sterile nothing to worry about.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/11/2014 17:52

Sterilise and use again.

Unless your work uses cistern blocks or similar (blue water) in which case I would contact manufacturer and ask for advice, as some substances will degrade the silicone.

milkpudding · 11/11/2014 17:54

What did you do for the rest of the day though??

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 11/11/2014 18:19

The water in the toilet post flush is clean, ok I wouldn't recommend you drink it but what do you think will transfer from it to a mooncup that can't be removed by sterilising?

drivingmisspotty · 11/11/2014 18:53

Thanks everyone. Given myself a talking to and will sterilise it. milkpudding made do with a pantyliner for a few minutes while until I could pop to chemist where I discovered Always Infinity which are actually rather good but expensive.

Ehric not sure really, one microbe of hepatitis caught in one of the little suction release holes? Realise this is ridiculous!

I once pinged my moon up over the next cubicle in a pub ..........

ILovePud · 11/11/2014 19:02

Once it's been sterilised I'm sure it will be totally hygienic but personally I couldn't get over the mental block of putting something up my chuff that I knew had been down the work toilet. If you can OP then you're less squeamish than me and fair play to you but if you want to get a new one I don't think you should feel guilty about the waste.

drivingmisspotty · 11/11/2014 19:06

Foo that is so embarrasing! What did you do next? ILuvPud thanks for the understanding :)
