DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2014 11:04

seriously?
I am absolutely appalled. I really really hope this doesn't mean he will ever play for Wales. I will definitely be taking part in some kind of protest if that happens.

Not to mention the spamming with the supposed 'petition' against a supposed sexist TV show.

Which doesn't exist anywhere.

I think we should batten down the hatches - we have an influx of gobshites tonight!

Bellerina2 · 14/11/2014 00:48

Oh you're back UptheHammers1? And there I was thinking you'd gone off to your all-male discussion board where you could discuss how all teh nasty feminist wimmenz were being SOOO mean to poor old you!

Viviennemary · 14/11/2014 01:25

The more I think about this the more I am convinced the others should be found guilty as well. The ones that filmed a crime taking place and did nothing to halt it. And why was Ched Evans invited into the room or did he barge his way in. The other man should take responsibility for aiding and abetting a crime. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if the conviction is overturned on appeal. I'm not saying this is what should happen but the whole reasoning behind the conviction of one person and not the other is just not logical.

HotDogJumpingFrogAlburquerque · 14/11/2014 02:05

Hammers was saying what would a male forum think about this

Here is a link to a Man City forum. Nearly all male, and they do have a bit of a historywith The rapist as he played for them when he was young.

I've not read it all, first and last 10 pages. About half get it, half don't.

The half that don't sound thick though

Im asking a question and perhaps others will be able to explain it in a better way than you have.

Do you remember when death threats were made against Salman Rushdie? Should he have just stood up to the bullies?

This poor woman's life is in danger, no that is not an exaggeration.

YonicScrewdriver · 14/11/2014 07:00

VM, a few points:

  1. Evans has already applied for leave to appeal twice and been turned down twice. One of the grounds was the different verdict for CM. The judges denying the appeal were satisfied that the trial judge was right to direct the jury that the verdicts could be independent.
  1. CE secured a key to the room from hotel staff so yes , he let himself in.
  1. I believe the CPS chose to charge CM with rape rather than aiding and abetting because they felt there was a realistic chance of conviction on this, more serious crime.
  1. There is a high chance that CE will be denied leave to appeal for a third time - the appeal is not guaranteed.
YonicScrewdriver · 14/11/2014 07:05

And the situations were different - the victim did go back with CM, whereas she had never seen CE until he let himself into the room, for one.

I have my own views on CM, but I do acknowledge that the circumstances immediately preceding the penetration were different for both men.

Neverbuyheliumbalonz · 14/11/2014 07:28

The situations were different as well in that CE had all of about 60 seconds to assess whether a woman he had never met before (and who, given thencircumstances of their meeting, was more than likely to be very drunk) was in a fit state to consent to sexual intercourse with him, and I guess it could be argued that in that sort of time frame you can't make that sort of assessment (so probably best not to stick your dick in her then).

Thank you for explaining the young woman is in the witness protection scheme. It wasn't something I was aware of and I appreciate the information.

I've just "liked" her too.

CariadsDarling · 14/11/2014 07:53

Just to add that I knew she had moved away and changed her name but not that she was part of the official witness protection scheme.

CariadsDarling · 14/11/2014 07:55

I didn't see your last post before I said I was unaware it was the official witness protection scheme.

I haven't lived in the UK for almost 40 years and I'm not really aware of how a lot of things are done

I believe her.

Nice to see that people like Jess Ennis-Hill also believe her.

Hopefully the rapist Ched Evans will soon crawl back under his rapist rock. Wonder how long his princess girlfriend will stay sticking by him when she can't be a proper footballers-WAG.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 14/11/2014 08:13

I believe very strongly in rehabilitation.

But the first steps of rehabilitation need to be:-

  1. Accepting yourself that you did the wrong thing
  2. Admitting to family, friends and the wider community that you did wrong
3 attempting to make amends to your victim - in this case apologising and stopping his friends, family and supporters from hounding her and threatening her 4 Attempting to make amends to society eg performing some kind of relevant community service

When he has done 1 - 4 then that is the time to talk about other forms of rehabilitation.

CariadsDarling · 14/11/2014 08:19

Thank you for that Empire.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 14/11/2014 08:28

Cariads I think that perhaps you don't understand just what the nature of the "bullying" that is going on is.

This is not a couple of teenagers calling her "nasty poo bottom". This is dozens of people threatening to break into her house and rape her. If she goes to the press and gives "her side of it" then she is waiving her anonymity forever. The press will keep on tracking her down. And if the press are finding her then the people who want to break into her house and rape her will find her.

Your statement that "things can't get worse" is sadly very mistaken.

She has stood up to the bullies. She went to court. There is a difference between standing up to the bullies and putting yourself in grave risk. If there wasn't then we wouldn't need witness protection at all.

CariadsDarling · 14/11/2014 08:42

I'm not saying she should go and give her side of it. She already did that in court.

I 'thought' she could say I'm not running anymore. You have no more control over me.
