To Want To Know The Passcode for my DD's (13) phone?

I have always known her passcode and periodically have checked it. She recently changed it and didn't want to give me the new passcode but eventually succumbed after I threatened to take away all gadgets. She gave me the old chestnut how her friends parents don't know the passcodes for their phones. So it got me thinking am I?

It's a lot of responsibility to put on a teenagers shoulders. What if they are being groomed and don't realise?

I don't think the world is as evil as many of you seem to think, of course things happen, I'm not denying that but because your child has a mobile does not mean they are putting themselves in danger every time they are on it!

It isn't just 'danger' -depending on your definition of course. Bullying - I am so glad there were no phones or internet in my youth. School was hell enough without those. Online porn - makes old Playboy magazines look like the Beano. Unsuitable online games. The list goes on...

I'd be wanting to keep an eye.

I disagree with wanting access to your childs personal phone, that is what the question was.

Thanks for all your replies.

I think the majority are with me on this one.
